CHAPTER 6: COLD HEARTED, NOT

Amelia Solace Bernard, the point of view.

I woke up a feeling dizzy. I felt pain on my head and on my foot, too.

"She's awake."

I open my eyes and found myself tied on a thick rope. It's all around my wrist in front of me and on my foot -- with visible bruise on my left foot from the stampede. I roam around my sight. I’m inside an unfinished construction site because I see pipes and cements and bricks scattered around.

And a man holding a huge gun.

I started to freak out.

"Hmm!" I just realized that aside from being tied up, they also put a cloth around my mouth. "Hmmm!"

"What should we do about her, Mike?" he says and look over his shoulder where the other man is sitting. It was the one who carried me inside their SUV and probably was the one to hit me on my head with his big elbows.

"Dump her?"

What? No!

“Hmmm!”

Oh God. What time is it already? Hugo’s probably starving and looking for me.
