*Warning, chapter contains use of graphic violence*Me and Leo barely slept a wink last night as we thought over the fact that we had managed to convince Caleb to give us what we wanted, although, it was more Leo that did the convincing. When he had marched us into Caleb’s office, Leo was determined not to take no for an answer, regardless of Caleb insisting he needed more time to think it over.Leo almost flew into a rage, demanding Zach be dealt a brutal penalty for his crimes, and that technically if Zach hadn’t have run away when we escaped, we would have killed him ourselves anyway, or kept him as our prisoner ready for the night wolves to take as their own. The whole time Leo argued with his father, I stood there in shock and pride to see how much he had changed when it came to his parents. Back when we first came back into each other’s lives, as much as he tried to help and defend me, he was always still quite reserved when it came to standing his ground and his choices, but ye
I inhaled a long relaxed breath as my head rested on Leo’s chest, with my eyes closed I gratefully basked under the hot sun. We’d been coming here every evening for the last week since we took Zach to his death, just to remind ourselves why we bestowed him such a vicious death. It was for this… for everything we were so close to never experiencing again. Of course, the night he died, it did plague me, Leo, Izzy and Dante at first, we had barely spoken a word to each other when we walked away. We felt a slight sense of guilt, almost convincing ourselves that we must be monsters to allow him to die such a painful death, but when me and Leo woke up the next morning safely in each other’s arms and no longer a black cloud over our heads, we actually felt relief. We felt safe, calm and ready to move on with our lives, leaving the pain of what happened behind us, including the ones who caused it.Caleb had announced to the entire pack the following day after Zach’s death that they no longer
One week later:It was surprising and interesting to see how quickly everyone including myself and Leo were trying to readjust to pack life. Both of my parents had resumed their responsibilities almost the moment they set foot back into Whitlock, and the usual hustle and bustle of the village paths began every morning and evening just as it used to, and sometimes I’d look out my bedroom window and watch them all pass by. They’d causally greet each other, wave and smile and I’d sometimes feel this strange notion in my stomach from how normal and unaffected everything seemed to be, as if the last year never happened.Even though a wall was still being built right in front of their eyes, no one seemed to take any notice of it, or even of the shambled trees along the border that had been snapped and ripped apart during the battle. Of course, it was only natural that everyone wanted to get on with their lives, especially now that we all felt a lot safer and had finally destroyed our enemie
As I sat patiently whilst he wrote down the last part of his notes, he finally looked up at me with a warm smile.“Right, now that’s sorted, is there anything else you wanted to discuss, before I have to head off and be stuck in my office for the rest of the day?” “Actually, yes. There was one other thing?” I mentioned reservedly as I was unsure if he’d take to my second idea as well as he did with my first.“Ok, well, tell me”. He encouraged heartily, with a keenness to hear more.“Well, it’s actually about Zach and Luke”. I started and he instantly frowned with confusion.“What about them? Don’t tell me there is a fourth person they were working with…” He said with a hesitated look in his eyes.“Oh, no, it’s nothing like that”. I smiled with a dismissive wave of my hand.“Thank goodness for that!” He breathed out a sigh of relief with an amused grin.“No, it’s just about the pack they came from, Clemonte..”“Ok, and what about it?” He asked with a curious expression.“Well, I don’t
I left Caleb’s office whilst he spoke to his beta about our plans to visit Clemonte, so I decided to head straight to the training grounds and tell Leo. I walked toward the wired fence and smiled with adoration at how hard he was working to rebuild his strength. From the weeks we spent training the night wolves and the long sessions he’s been putting in this last week, I could see his muscles were a lot more visible now, especially his biceps and the arches along his neck and shoulders. It was a sight I could marvel at all day long. In fact, I could feel myself tingling at the thought of having him all to myself later tonight and running my hands down his bronzed, toned abs.He looked my way when he saw me approaching and flashed me a mischievous wink and a smile that had my stomach in flutters. He told his sparring partner to take a break and as I walked through the gate, he instantly wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me in for a kiss. Even with the sweat running down his fa
Here we stood, distastefully gawking at the rickety and dishevelled fencing that ran along Clemonte’s border. Caleb, Arnold and myself all passed each other the same judgemental and shocked glances. The wooden pillars and barbed wire was barely hanging on to each other, it looked as though it could barely keep a skunk off their land, let alone any vicious rogues. All I could think was, how easy pickings the members of this pack were to any savages passing by. There was even no sign of guards patrolling the area and checking their unprotected perimeter.Caleb took the lead and opened the dilapidated gates, and as they creaked open, Arnold and I followed closely behind, waiting for someone to approach and demand for us to reveal our names, but as we stood awkwardly waiting, we were in disbelief when no one came. No one had noticed that three strangers had walked right through their gate and onto their land.“But we could be anyone!” I exclaimed to Caleb and Arnold as we glanced around a
We all sat with our drinks as James mingled through the group of women and men that hung around the gathering pit as they chugged down drink after drink of wine and ale. There seemed to be no code of respect or boundaries, as he would flirt and grab the ass cheeks of most of the women whilst their mates stood close by. In fact, they all seemed extremely forward with one another. I noticed one man with a bonding ring on his finger kissing the lips of one woman, then moments later he was sitting with a different woman on his lap as they flirted and giggled to each other, with his hand running up and down her thigh, and her hand toying with the buttons on his shirt.I kept cringing and shivering from the way they were all collectively interacting with one another, but fortunately as they were all so distracted, me, Caleb and Arnold would sneakily pour away some of our drinks onto the ground after Caleb flashed us a look not to take a sip as soon as they were handed to us. We just watched
