Scarlett turned around to leave, but Adrian was quick to grab her by the wrist. He pulled her back, causing her to land on his chest and his hand quickly snuck around her waist, holding her in place. She looked up at the man she had grown fond of, and her heart missed a beat. He could feel her breath seize and her heart race, and even when she got weak in the knees, he expertly held her up.

“You are not going to have anything to do with that motherfucker, let alone sleep with him.” He leaned in to whisper into her ear, causing her to shudder. She batted her lashes at him, her heart squeezing in hurt. She tried to conceal her pain and fury, but that proved to be difficult as the redness of her eyes gave her away.
