Prologue Annamaria’s POV “Maria, Vivian.” Dad's panicked voice reached our ears immediately. “Get inside now.” My gaze wandered to my sister and I didn't miss the confusion in her voice. “Anna.” She called out to me. “What's going on? Ares' POV The journey didn't take too much time and I couldn't be more grateful for that. I wouldn't say I was grateful though, I had everything I needed to make it happen, so it wasn't that big of a deal. After Matteo had gotten into the limousine, I instructed him to give directions to the driver. I wanted nothing to do with the menial details, all I wanted to do was get my hands on that girl. Blood rushed to my ears, and I felt my bones thrum and buzz with something I could only tag as exhilaration. No, not that. Fear. I'd pressed my eyes shut, wishing that the experience I just had was nothing but a slight fever dream. Ares' POV Anna's reaction was priceless. In fact, I couldn't have pictured a more perfect reaction to my words than how she looked right now. Her face was scrunched up in equal bits of fear and surprise. Like she'd imagined everything, but not that. My decision had caught her unaware, and I loved it. The moment the words had slid past my lips, she went completely still. Stiff. Like an animal caught in a snare, or a little mouse caught in a trap.
