I stood before his piercing emerald eyes blazing with accusation. My heart raced as he towered over me, his chiseled features twisted in anger. "Astrid, how could you?" His deep voice was laced with disappointment, yet anger. "I thought you were better than this." I shook my head, confusion and fear mingling in my chest. I pushed the unsettling conversation with my father to the back of my mind, focusing on the task at hand. As the Beta's daughter, it was my duty to attend the pack's gatherings and events. It was the night and the time of the full moon celebration. I made my way through the crowded hall, exchanging greetings and smiles with the pack members. The air was filled with the delicious smell of roasting meat and the sound of laughter and chatter. As I greeted the last of the pack members, I spotted a vacant seat at the edge of the hall and made my way towards it. I sat down, taking a moment to collect my thoughts and observe the celebration. The pack was in high spirits, and it was clear that everyone was excited to celebrate the full moon. I, on the other hand, couldn't help but feel a little out of place. I tried to run, but my feet felt heavy, as if rooted to the spot. Kaidรซn's eyes, now a piercing gold, locked onto mine, and I felt a shiver run down my spine. I stood there, frozen in confusion, as Kaidรซn's words hung in the air. "What...what do you mean?" I stuttered, my mind racing.
