Chapter 1

I found myself floating in the plane when I opened my eyes again. My transparent body led me to realize that I had died on that cliff and that my flesh had been eaten clean by the birds and the wild animals.Eyes on the cleanly cut rope, I recalled the evil look that Luna Langdon gave me before I died hugging the ropes halfway on the mountain. When I was dying, my dearest husband, Austin Milley, took off his jacket and covered Luna with it. As if that weren't enough, he had the audacity to ask the rescuers for more. "Do you have a blanket? She can't catch a cold; she's on her period."The rescuer shot Austin a speechless look. Luna quickly pulled Austin back with a disagreeing look. "Don't worry. I'm not as pampered as Ruby. My cramps are nothing, but it'll be better if you could keep me warm."As she tried to highlight how different she was from me, she boldly grasped Austin's hand and placed it on her lower abdomen. Even as a spirit floating mid-air, I had an urge to slap her in

At the doctor's office, Austin answered the questions about Luna's condition with ease. He seemed to know more about Luna than she did, including her menstrual cycle and the brand of tampon she regularly used. Concern was etched on his face as if Luna were giving birth. In the past, I had asked him to give me some heat packs to relieve my menstrual cramps, but he had ignored me and played his games. His once good-looking face looked appalling to me at this moment. I remembered he had said to me, "I'm a man. I'm bad at taking care of others."I tried to trick myself into thinking that Austin was perhaps telling the truth. He crossed my boundaries multiple times, but I forgave him because he had saved my life once. Now that I had lost my life because of him, it was time I stopped lying to myself. That man never loved me. I was never his priority.Austin left the hospital with Luna. He treated her like a precious, fragile item. When she playfully punched him in the chest, he played

Luna continued, "That time, I texted her for an hour, and she was so happy. She said she hadn't chatted with you for so long. Oh, you baddie!"Austin did not respond to her remark. Instead, he looked worried about her eyes. He said to Luna with a helpless expression, "Enough. Stop fooling around. Hold my phone and hold on tight. I'm going to drop you if you don't behave."I stared at Austin as though he were a stranger. That time, Austin chatted with me through texts for an hour, which was uncharacteristic of him. His sweet talk made me so happy that I nearly fainted from joy. After that, he promised to have dinner with me, but he stood me up. My hopes were dashed, and we got into a huge fight that day. I didn't know that Luna was behind everything.Moments later, Austin suddenly said to Luna, "Ask Ruby if she's home. If she is, tell her we'll get a divorce the day after tomorrow. She always clams up when I bring up divorce during a fight. I'll teach her a lesson for talking abo

Mandy had always been rational and controlled. She rarely cursed, and the worst she had ever said was, "Get lost."Austin distanced himself from the phone. He was unconcerned. "Woah, Ruby Bertrand's dead? Shocker. She's so sick all the time. Let me know when it's time for her funeral; I'll get it sorted out. "Your entire family is a joke. Ruby goes around pressing her hand over her heart all day. Are you playing along with her too? What's wrong with you?" Austin swiftly hung up on Mandy and switched off his phone. The awkwardness from before lingered in the air. Austin wondered if he should rejoin Luna in bed. However, she smiled at him and invitingly flipped the blanket open. "Come on. Let's watch one more horror movie before we move on to 'Pride and Prejudgement'. Gotta keep you company so you don't miss your wife too much."Austin jumped at the invitation and lay back down in bed. He tenderly placed his hand on her lower abdomen. "Are you feeling better now? You always pu

After Luna kissed the guy a few times, Austin took a few swigs and choked on the alcohol. He angrily rushed over to pull Luna away and out of the bar.Luna swung his hand away with a dazed expression. Austin couldn't help but yell at her, "Do you not have boundaries? Are you gonna flirt with every Tom, Dick, and Harry?"He shut up when Luna nodded back. Then, he hurried out of the bar. Meanwhile, Luna went back to having fun without a pause.Sitting in the car, Austin stared at my WhatsApp profile photo with a dejected look. He repeatedly refreshed our chat. Finally, he texted me to apologize. "I'm sorry, darling. I finally learned the importance of boundaries. I won't hang out with Luna anymore."Let's start anew. I'll celebrate our fifth anniversary properly to make it up to you."I studied the loneliness on his face with amusement. He looked like he had just broken up. How ridiculous!Austin had had a taste of his own medicine. After cheating on me with other women, he final

"I'm taking away Ruby's belongings. Whatever words you have for Ruby, you can say them to the wall," Mandy concluded.Austin knelt on the floor as sweat dripped from his forehead. He was in too much agony to speak. His blood continued to pool on the otherwise empty floor. It wasn't until then I finally realized there was not much left in my house.Mandy left the place with a happy look, leaving behind Austin, who had fainted from the pain. When he regained consciousness, he was drenched in sweat. Trembling, he dialed 911 for help. After some hesitation, he called Luna too. His eyes sparkled with hope as he spoke to her with much difficulty, "Luna, come home early."He heard the white noise in the background. Luna replied, "Hello? Who is this? Hello?"A guy in the background asked Luna, "Who's that?"She shrugged it off. "Ah, it's just some guy."After Luna hung up on Austin, he sobbed. I had no idea if he was crying out of pain or anger. This time, he called the rescue team. Swe

Austin remembered me putting on the outfit for the hike and joyfully hugging him that day. I had wished him a happy fifth anniversary. Halfway through my speech, Luna rudely jumped out from behind him and hugged him tightly."Let's go rock climbing! Life's been too boring lately. I need a new challenge. Haven't people been climbing those undeveloped climbing areas these days? Let's do it too."Austin, you're a pro. Are you gonna chicken out?"He immediately agreed to the challenge and ignored my protests. I reluctantly agreed to join after they egged me on.Austin mumbled, "So, you felt sick halfway through the climb, but Luna insisted she was fine. She got me to compare her against you. At the end, she mentioned she had cramps, but she tried to put on a brave face. "I saw your lips turning purple. I had wanted to ask about you, but she distracted me. She told me she could carry on even though she was freezing. "Things must have been serious when you complained about your hea

Luna was still unconscious. Austin took the chance to tie her up at the edge of the cliff, and her body swayed in the air like dried sausages.Meanwhile, he sat on the steps and took a sip of vodka. His face looked redder than it was, and he had to shake his head to remain sober. The moment Luna stirred awake, she immediately screamed with a pale face. She screamed hysterically at Austin, "What are you doing? Release me!"While sipping on the vodka, he replied flatly, "I thought you loved chasing the thrill. I never knew you had heart problems. If so, wouldn't you have died by now? Why are you still kicking and yelling?"Luna bit her lip. She calmed down and tried to talk some sense into him. "I was wrong. I shouldn't have ratted on you, but you and I are different. You'll be fine after the public scrutiny, but I can't handle it. "Since your wife was dead, why not let her take all the blame? We can save our asses that way. Alright now. Release me, and we can talk."Austin glance
