Chapter 31

GINA'S POV I took a deep breath and tried to focus on the pottery session in front of me. The noble of the pack chatted and laughed around me. I tried to focus in how their hands shaped the clay but I couldn't focus on anything else but my thoughts. Our pottery session today was supposed to be a relaxing activity. It was also a chance for us to bond and for me to fulfill my duties as Luna. But my mind was filled with emotions couldn't control. I couldn't belived Alpha Ferris refused me! He even said I couldn't compete with Elise, on what grounds! I'm Luna afterall. Suddenly, Jackson’s voice echoed in my mind, taunting me. "Elise..." he had moaned as I sucked his cock. At the thought of that day, I gripped the clay so hard it began to crumble under my finger. My frustration seeped into the very material I was supposed to be molding. How could he still be thinking of her? Elise. What was so special about her? She was practically a maid now. I thought Jackson never cared about Elis

Chapter 32

ELISE'S POVI spent my day doing the chores I had been assigned. It seemed as if I was given a larger share of the chores and I didn't know why. I guess it was Gina's way of punishing me and Ms Kelly's way of making sure I stayed in my space. As I worked, my muscles ached with exhaustion. I had been working since morning with no break. Finally, I found a moment of peace when I had finished. I went to my room and laid on the hard metal bed. It wasn't comfortable in the slightest but at least, I could rest a bit now. The room was so little and so dark that it made it almost impossible to find solitude here but I had no other choice. After all, it was better than standing on my tired legs. I closed my eyes, letting the quiet of the room envelop me. The sounds of the house—the clinking of cutlery, the murmurs of conversation from the other maids, the occasional shout from the guards—faded into the background. My mind began to wander. Soon enough, I found myself dreaming of the past. In

Chapter 33

I looked at Gina in surprise. "Me?!" I shrieked Jackson laughed loudly. Even my parents joined in. “Gina, darling,” he said, “pick a better opponent. Elise here couldn’t handle a feather, let alone a real fight.” "You're right" my mom said "Don't waste your time on her, my dear" My parents exchanged glances and chuckled. They had always considered me too wild, too untamed. The thought that I might actually be able to hold my own in a fight was something they clearly couldn’t entertain. “Do not judge a book by its cover,” Ferris said, commanding everyone's attention. Everywhere became silent as he spoke. "Elise is strong" Ferris said "How can you not see that?" "Surely, you must be mistaken, your grace" my father said "Elise wouldn't last a minute in a fight with anyone. She's our daughter. We're sure of this". "You might be surprised" Ferris' encouragement warmed my heart. He was the only person who stood up for me. I tried to refuse Gina’s challenge. I d

Chapter 34

I ran as fast as I could out of the arena. I ran until I reached the woods. My breath came in ragged gasps as I ran. I ran through the trees, thinking of everything that had happened. The pain of seeing my once loving parents now so cold and distant tore at my heart. The words my father said to me echoed in my head. "You're such an animal!" he said. The tears fell freely from my eyes now. There was an ache in my chest from all the pain I felt inside. I felt bad for hurting Gina, but she had started it. She was the one who challenged me. She was the one who made me angry. Even at that, it was somehow my fault. It was always my fault. I didn't matter to anyone. Nobody cared about me. No one wanted me anymore. Not my parents, not Jackson, not even the pack members. The people who were supposed to love me, to support me, had turned their backs on me. Maybe I'd be better off dead. I found a secluded spot in the forest, hidden from view. I collapsed onto the ground and started sobb

Chapter 35

GINA'S POVI slipped into a special dress that I had picked out myself. It was a tight black dress that hugged my curves in all the right places. I smiled as I looked at myself in the mirror. I recalled the events at the tournament. I'll admit, I never expected Elise to be so strong. For a moment, I thought I was going to be embarrassed but then, I found a way to turn everything in my favour. Everyone looked at Elise like she was a monster and that was exactly what I wanted. Even our parents got mad at her. I loved it when I got my way. I wore this dress so I'd see Jackson and hopefully, get something out of him. I had my eyes on am expensive set of diamond earrings that I wanted him to buy for me. This dress should do the trick. After what happened at the arena, Jackson was surely done with Elise. It was my turn now. I made my way to Jackson’s office with the sound of my heels echoing in the hallway. I plastered a charming smile on my face. I already had the perfect plan in my mi

Chapter 36

GINA'S POVI had never felt such anger boiling in my veins. Jackson had the audacity to compare me to Elise. Elise, of all people. I couldn't let that slide. This as all Elise's fault. With Helen at my side, we stormed toward where Elise was. She was supposed to be washing guards in the backyard. "I can't believe him!" I shrieked. "I can't either. How dare he compare you to her? She's a nobody" "Exactly! He has no right and neither does she" When we got to the backyard, we saw Elise there. She was busy, hunched over a line of freshly washed clothes. She had her back to us. Perfect."What do you want to do now?" Helen asked. "Just watch me," I muttered, my eyes narrowing at the sight of Elise. "She needs to know her place."We reached the clothesline, and without a second thought, I pulled hard on the rope, sending the wet clothes into the dirt. Elise turned around. Her eyes were wide with shock and confusion. For a moment, there was silence as she took in the scene, then her ey

Chapter 37

ELISE'S POVThe note from Helen burned a hole in my pocket all day. I couldn’t concentrate on anything, not with the questions I had in my mind. Was this a joke? A trap? Or something else entirely? I kept replaying the earlier confrontation in my head, searching for clues, but I found none. Why would Helen want to meet me somewhere? The whole thing confused me. By the time evening rolled around, I had convinced myself to go. For a few minutes, I was a bit skeptical but in the end, curiosity got the best of me. I wanted to find out what she wanted, whether it was a joke or not. I made my way to the back garden where Helen had instructed me to meet her. I approached the meeting point cautiously. It was night time already, making the garden look really creepy and dark.. As I rounded the corner, I spotted Helen pacing up and down. She had an annoyed expression on her face. “Elise,” she snapped, as soon as she saw me. “You took your sweet time. I was beginning to think you weren’t com

Chapter 38

ELISE'S POVI could hear the distant sounds of the ball from my room. The music and laughter from the grand hall echoed through the walls, refusing to be ignored. Everything was so loud that I could hear the ball clearly. I laid on my bed and closed my eyes. My head sank deeper into the pillow, but no matter how much I tried, I couldn’t shut out the noise—or the nagging thoughts racing through my mind. What if something went wrong? What if all the planning and sleepless nights were for nothing? Gina would never let me live it down if something happened. She’d probably find some way to pin every little mistake on me, even though she didn't help even in the slightest bit. A knot of anxiety formed in my stomach. I was reduced to a maid. I couldn't attend the ball even if I wanted to. What do I do now?I turned onto my side, facing the small desk in the corner of the room. That’s when I remembered—the invite Helen had given me, still sitting in the big bag on the floor. Instantly, an i

Chapter 39

FERRIS' POVThe ball was everything I had expected it to be—grand, extravagant, and yet, completely bland. It was an event made for those who thrived on shallow displays of wealth, but not for someone like me. The room was filled with people pretending to be more important than they were.It was a masked ball, but the fabric over my eyes did nothing to hide my identity. My size alone was enough to give me away. The moment I entered the room, I could feel the eyes on me. I was used to it by now—nobles and commoners alike vying for my attention, for a moment in my presence as if it would somehow elevate their status. Tonight was no different. However, I wanted nothing more than to be left alone. I just wanted to stay for a while then leaveBut that was wishful thinking. The first noble woman approached me almost immediately after I entered the room. She was dressed in a shimmering blue gown, her mask adorned with feathers and jewels. She batted her eyelashes and tilted her head in a way

Chapter 40

ELISE'S POVI stood there, locked into Ferris's gaze. My heart raced at the sight of him. The warmth of his hands on my waist made me feel some type of way that I couldn't describe. I was glad to see him. My wolf did a happy dance inside me. His sweet scent filled my nose. It took every self restraint in me not to pull him close and sniff him. "Let's go now, love" he said. Ferris gently guided me toward the center of the dance floor. The room seemed to still around us. The crowd of people parted to let us through. As we passed, everyone bowed their heads in respect for Ferris. Right now, the people in the room didn't matter. All I could focus on was the feeling of his hand in mine.We took our place in the middle of the dance floor. My heart was beating so fast that I could hear it in my ears.."Relax" Ferris said "I'm here" His words made me relax a little. I always felt safe and protected in his presence. As soon as we took our place, the orchestra shifted their tune. The music
