Chapter 1: Homeless

Poppy's POVAs I gaze at the tomb of the guy I once adored, silent tears trickle down my cheeks. My mother is sniffling and my younger brother is sobbing."I've already missed Dad," Sunny said as she rested her chin on my left shoulder."Me, too, Sunny," I said, clutching her trembling hands. As she leans against me, she begins to cry."Poor Becketts, they went bankrupt, and now the head of their family is dead," a gossip lady in the back said to a friend."Does that mean we're now higher than them?" her proud companion asked. My ear begins to flare up in annoyance as I hear them. This woman is getting on my nerves, and I want to yell and shoo her away from my father's burial with her companions. They had thick skin and could only focus on their position and our existing family situation. They didn't even give us sympathies, and now they're referring to us as if we didn't exist. An unexpected phone vibration diverts my attention. Mom cries as soon as she sees my father's face on her

Chapter 2: Westbridge

Poppy's POV"Woah!" I exclaimed when I saw the Westbridge building. It was far larger than Mr. Miller's and the other companies I applied to the day before. The structure has 100 or more floors. I was so taken with the massive structure that I forgot I just had 10 minutes before I had to go. I rush inside and accidently run into someone."My apologies, I wasn't looking my way," an apologetic man's voice remarked. I was astounded to see his manly features as he raised his face. He has gray ash hair, stunning golden eyes that complement his arched thick gray brows, a sharp nose, and curves kissable lips. I've never been this way around guys before.I snapped out of my thoughts when he asked me if I was alright."U-uhm, yes, I'm fine, how about you?" I responded. He just stares at me, and his eyes twinkle. My cheeks are suddenly hot."It's not a bad idea to be friends with him; maybe I'll just ask for his phone number," I reasoned. My flirty mode has vanished as I open my phone screen.

Chapter 3: Declined

Poppy's POV"I'm really stupid! It's gold plated, right? That's why he's in there because he's a valuable person! I didn't think of that!" I pounded my head on my cubicle table, irritated. "How can I do this when I already know I'm on his dislike list?" I worriedly asked myself. The phone rang just as I was ready to slam my head again."Hello? Sir West, what can I do for you?" I inquired cautiously. "Made me some coffee!" said the person on the other end of the line before hanging up. I walked to the pantry alongside Mr. Caden's office, where the cabinets, coffee machine, water dispenser, and other food and drink preparation equipment are located.I was perplexed as to what I needed to make coffee. It also took me some time to discover it because I was new and had no idea where it was. Sir Caden's yell came through a slide window connecting to his office."Where is my coffee, Ms. Beckett?" He yelled. "Wait, sir, I'm doing it!" I said. As I pressed the coffee maker, my hands trembled
