Chapter one: Mia

Mia's POvThere was nothing for hours and hours on end.I woke up to another cold morning in the forest, surrounded by howling winds and rain. It had been months since I found myself in this harsh world, surviving on what little food I could scavenge. The thought of a deer roasting in the fire, made my mouth water."I need to find a deer." My mind urged me on, taking me to places I didn't even know existed. It was hard to see animals to hunt this place. The cold contributed to the hardship. If not for my warm fur, there was no way I was going to survive here. Sniffing around, I paused to look over the dried fallen trees. My eyes darted from tree to tree finding any unfortunate deer that found itself in my claws soon. Every movement in the snow made my heart race as I could find something to eat soon. A succulent deer. In the distance was one cold deer, looking for shelter against the cold. My tongue scraped my teeth in anticipation."I can almost hear its heartbeat," I muttered und

Chapter two: Alex

Alex's POV"Frank," I muttered lowly. "Get here quickly; the apostles are beginning to lose their minds."My cousin chuckled on the other side. He was the right choice for a beta, and there was nothing wrong with him. Strong and capable, it was better that he went to check our borders along with some of the guards. "Okay, alpha. Wait, I smell something sweet…" he began to say to the guards, and I know that they have found something in the forest."What do you smell?" I narrowed my eyes on the wall close to me. It had portrait frame art of my brother and me. You could hardly tell the difference between the two of us. But we do look good together… damn."Something roasted."I rolled my eyes, feeling anger brew in me. "Frank, get your ass here. We can go and check that sh*t later. You will be hosting them today.""Oh, I don't want to do that. They are grumpy old sh*ts who wouldn't get their priorities straight. What I am doing is more important than that sh*t they want to talk about."I

Chapter three: Alex

Alex's POVIt didn't take long for me to become bored. Only that my mate is meant to be seated on the other side of the table, where I can gaze into her beautiful eyes as the apostles rant all day long."We cannot afford to have an alpha without a mate. It undermines our pack's stability and diminishes our standing among other packs. It is imperative that you fulfill this obligation." Alphonso said, oblivious to his impending demise."I understand your concerns, and I assure you that finding a suitable mate is a priority for me. However, I will not settle for just anyone. The future of our pack depends on a strong and compatible union." My words carried firmness but also a hint of defiance. I was determined to make the right choice, even if it took time. What is their problem with me finding a mate? The pack hasn't been in any danger lately, has it? I paused, remembering Frank's words. Something might be lurking in the forest. We need to check it out.Just then, the door opened to rev

Chapter four: Mia

Mia's POVThe sound of my bones cracking filled me with intense pain, more than my bones themselves. Pain ran through me like a train, crushing my spinal cord. I should have known that a wolf wouldn't die from such a great fall. It was the most painful thing I have felt, yet the pain vanished when I opened my eyes to see big white wolves staring at me curiously. There were other wolves around, scattering my camp!Anger replaced the pain, and I launched at the fine wolves before going to the ugly ones. It didn't take them seconds to hand me my ass. I can't believe I failed to guard my home. In no time, a brown wolf changed into its human form. It had just what I expected—brown hair."Who are you?" He snarled, not bothering to cover his nakedness. I averted my gaze from his dangling jewels. One of the white wolves changed back to his human form. He was a handsome man. His face looked familiar, but I couldn't picture where I had seen it.They were terrifying enough."Frank, get some clot
