 SCARLETT.     An hour and Raya's tantrums later, she was ready for surgery. Eliana had been asked not to feed her or the sort. So they had just kept her food.      Volkov had been by her side since morning and was unwilling to leave her side, but now that she was ready to get into the theatre room, the doctors were changed and a mean-looking short man walked in.      "He looks like he wants to kill me," Raya blurted out loud for everyone to hear. Eliana hit her slightly. "What? Am I not right?"     She looked at Volkov. He was trying too hard to hold back his laugh and as soon as Eliana and Finn walked away with the surgeon, he burst into laughter.      Finn leaned towards me when he returned.

FINN. I watched as Scarlett slept in my arms. She had fallen asleep halfway into the movie and now, the movie credits were rolling out. I gently peeled her off my body and placed her on the bed beside me before quietly climbing out of the bed and picking the packets of snacks that littered her bed. After tossing it into the bin, I walked back to her bed, tore out a sticky note laying on her bedside table. After writing on it, I placed it on the table and planted a kiss on her cheek before slipping out of the house.
