CHAPTER 2 I watched the waiter come out of the restaurant with a bag of trash in his hand. I stood up from the floor quickly so that I could focus all my attention on him. I had to be very vigilant in case there was any homeless person around. If I wasn’t fast enough, I would go to bed hungry again tonight.
