Prologue

It was once said that there was a time when men, gods, and beasts lived together. It was at a time when the sun rested high up in the sky and never came down. Its presence in the heavens, bolstered happiness among the three races that they became friendly neighbors. Under the magnificent ray of this sun, the three races found their hearts beat as one, and their tongues singing songs of praises for each other. Nothing they sang, said, or did, was ever hidden from the sun and in truth nothing needed to be. The beasts of the air, those of the earth and sea and even those underneaths the earth aided men and gods in their travels and heavy lifting. Men in their different colors and sizes provided food, wine, and other form of entertainments which the three parties cherished. While God's moved the bodies of the world to suit the living conditions that men and beast desired, they also taught men tricks, which came to be known as magic. With magic nothing but a whisper away from the gifted

A New Day

It all started as a normal day, with the sun high in the clouds while birds littered across clear skies. Men and women of Edrighton went about their morning business with smiles on their faces and words of greetings on their lips. It was always fun and busy in the land of Edrighton, maybe more so for Bran, a jolly young boy born of the dawn star.Bran was the son of a single mother and had two younger sisters who lived with him in the outskirt of the village. He spent most of his morning running through thick forest and hill tops to get to the village market square, where he goes to hawk his mother's grilled fishes, to retailers or customers who crave them. The market was a big part of the kingdom and was quite famous for it's size and the caliber of goods and services they provided. The Mysterious Jade Crystal

Bran walked out of The curry's, the fifth eating house he had been to for the day, carrying an empty basket of fish. He waved his basket in the air to make sure there were no residue bones or scales left behind. As he expected, there were little to none, none except for a Jade Crystal which dropped from the basket and onto the rocky floor where it rolled around in the dust."What is this?" He gazed at it as it settled on a spot. The ray of the sun refracted off it that it pierced his gaze with images of a burning crown seating on top of a silent sea, which startled him. He lost the vision just as quickly and was left with the beaming image of the jade crystal resting on the dust.He picked up the jade and examined it as if it were a piece of magical rock or a sildon coin. Furthermore, he raised it to the sun to check if the vision would return, but nothing happened. His gazed caught the image of the green petals of a burning flame which was etched into the jade."That's odd?" he gave

The Way Home

The journey back home was a long and stressful one, not at all how Bran pictured his morning, especially not today. His ordeal at the community market of Edrighton was one thing, and to add to that he was forced to take the longer route home. It was no secret the Julionios or the Julios family lived kilometers away from the kingdom of Edrighton, and this had been the case for as long as Bran could remember. He had often asked why, “why couldn't we live in the kingdom like everyone else?” And the reply was always “This is our home, this is where we belong and this is where we are safe”. His mother, who had been a target of his questions, was quite meticulous with her answers, that no matter how many times he asked, her answers never changed. When he pestered, she usually gave him the “continue asking and your ass gets it” look, which was one of the scariest things Bran had ever seen her or anyone else did. It was always better to back off whenever she got like that, so he accepted he

The Princess Arrives

“Open the gates, the princess approaches!” “The princess!” A group of uniformed men, idling around on the floor, rose to their feet. “To the gates!” they screamed on their heels as they all ran towards the entrance bridge to stand in position. The gatekeepers grabbed onto two golden ring handles and pulled hard to kick-start a sophisticated mechanism behind the main gate. A bridge ladder dropped slowly to the floor, to allow passage through the menacing pits under it. The castle door popped open no faster than the bridge and through them one could see the silver-white flags of a golden crown seating on top of two blades, flying freely in the air. The carriage guarded by two uniformed guards and three maiden escorts pulled up into the castle premises at a walking pace. Their horses jugged into the palace compound through the cracks of guards, bowed at both sides of the gate, while the Princess sat exalted in her chamber, unruffled at the sight of the guards. The marbled compound wi
