Chapter 61

I allowed them to come in and I tried to keep my nerves at bay. Did I have a reason to be nervous? Yes! Not because I was scared of Chad or Katara, but because of what my mom did. There was a work desk not too far from the window and next to it were two tolling chairs. Chad and Katara took them to their advantage and sat down. I, on the other hand, sat down n the bed. “So…” I tried to get them talking. “You’re both in here with me. Let’s talk.” I sighed. “Was it intentional for you to leave Katara’s body? Um, so you see? I’m asking because I believe it was. I believe you did that because you did not want to heal her mom but wanted her dead instead as a way to avenge your pack,” Chad explained as he stared at me with a hard look. “I know it sounds crazy but you can’t blame me. When Chad brought up his suspicion, I was skeptical. But it can't be all too crazy, right? Because my father is the reason why you have nowhere to truly call home. He took away your life and everything you kn

Chapter 62

Sam was nice enough to lend us one of his cars. I don’t think it would have been comfortable if my mom, Jade, and I would have used the motorcycle to go over to his mom’s place. I believe that it’s an hour or two drive. Jade was driving and my mom and I were in the backseat. We had spent half an hour on the road and I had already explained almost everything that happened when I was away; about the Moon goddess, Billy and his family, and Greenleaf. They were wowed by my experience and my mom was smiling ear to ear when she found out that I had healed Billy’s daughter and the love of his life. “Come here. I’m so proud of you,” She gushed as she pulled me in for a hug. “This makes me so happy.” She sniffled dryly and then planted a kiss on my head. “Maybe sometime, we could visit Greenleaf?” Jade said in a soft tone, and I chuckled. When I looked at my mom, I saw her facial expression change drastically after hearing what Jade said. “Greenleaf.” She tested the word on her tongue. Th

Chapter 63

Jade cleared his throat and that grabbed his mother’s attention. “They’re here to help.” “To help with what?” She chuckled lowly. He swallowed. “They know. They know, mom. They know about your condition.” “Jade Sanchez,” Gloria called him by his full name and my heart skipped a beat. “I told you that I did not want anyone to know my business. So you’re telling me that you now go around telling people that I’m sick and about to die?” She raised her voice. “No. No, I would never do that. The only reason they know is that I trust them and because they can help.” His mom seemed upset by the fact that he told us about her being sick. And I did not blame her. Nobody would want their business publicly displayed. Especially when it showed them as a victim; weak and helpless.Gloria glanced at us and exhaled deeply. She looked back at her son and asked, “Well, are they doctors?” Jade shook his head and made eye contact with me. “They’re not. But believe me when I say they can help.” “Co

Chapter 64

I was on the couch, with a bowl of soup in my hand. I used my lap as a small table. It tasted so good and it was actually my second serving. My mom was sitting next to me. She was eating rice and stew instead. She always wasn’t a huge fan of soup. The soup that I was drinking reminded me of Billy. It was almost as good as his. And to my surprise, it was made Jade for his mother. I guess all the guys that I kept meeting in my life were just great cooks, better ones than me.And talking about Jade, he was not here. He and his mother had left for the hospital. After the healing, I suggested that they go to the hospital to get checked up. I don’t know if it was because I was still insecure about my gift of healing, or if it was because I wanted Gloria to know from a professional that her cancer had disappeared. But all I wanted is for her to get checked up. The sound from the TV show that was on was not loud. I could barely hear the actors but I did not care much about that. “Are you

Chapter 65

It was night and the wind was cold and dry. The full moon sat in the sky and shone brightly. I felt more alive than ever but my wolf stayed in its place respectfully. When we got to the mansion, Sam was not there. So I was waiting for him to come home before I went to sleep. I paced the room slowly and allowed my mind to overthink; to come up with so many scenarios that could result in everything going wrong. Suddenly, a knock sounded at my door. “Who’s there?” I stopped pacing and waited for a response. “Who’s there?” I asked once more when no one answered. I walked towards the door and stood there. After a few seconds, the person cleared their throat and spoke, causing me to recognize who it was immediately. “It’s me. Can we talk?” It was Chad. “Are you alone?” I asked. I could feel that he was not alone. I don't know how, but I could feel it. “No. I’m with Katara,” He replied. “Come on, girl. Open up.” She knocked on the door some more, and I finally decided to open it. I re

Chapter 66

Chad sat in the back, next to me, while Jade sat in the front, next to Katara. We did not want it that way but katara insisted. She said that she wanted Chad and me to get more comfortable with each other but all that did was make me more uncomfortable. The windows were rolled up and the AC was on full blast. The car smelled new and there was a tension hovering that I could not explain. I just felt on edge but I did not know what. “You said that the party would be held at Chad’s house, right?” I asked, trying to speak above the music that was playing in the car. “Hmm?” Chad locked eyes with me. And then his eyes widened a bit when his brain caught on to what I had asked. “Oh, yeah. It’s at my place. It’s going to be so much fun. You have no idea how long I have waited for this day.” He grinned. I let a few seconds pass between us before I spoke. “In case I did not say it, Happy birthday.” I flashed him a warm smile. He nodded in response and then mumbled, “Okay.” I did not know

Chapter 67

Drip. Drip. Drip. Drip. That was the sound that woke me up. The dripping of water into something like a metallic pan. I released a labored breath and then opened my heavy eyelids. The world was blurred for a few seconds until my vision cleared. My throat was very dry and I was in a lot of pain. I proceeded to get up from where I was lying but it was torture. I managed to do it though. I sat up and groaned as I study the room I was in. The air smelled like urine and mud. And the sound of the water dripping was now even louder. I soon realized that it was raining. And there was a leak from the ceiling. A metallic pan was placed under the part of the roof that was leaking, as a way to collect the dripping water. That was where the sound was coming from. My head was hurting so badly and I could not stop my eyes from producing tears. A sob escaped my mouth when my mind reminded me of everything that had happened. They knew. Katara and Chad knew, and now they were taking their revenge

Chapter 68

I made sure that I had some cover in the bushes as I walked closer to the shack that I suspected Jade to be in. There was no car or any sort of vehicle parked around there so it was likely that Katara and Chad were not there. Though I had healed myself to some extent, I still was not totally healed. And that meant I was still in a world of pain, just not as much as before. I ran my hands through my hair and closed the distance between the shack and me. The door was locked, unlike the way mine was. If I had enough strength, I would have been able to wolf out and destroy the lock and a simple hit, but I could not. I had to find another way. I wiggled the lock on the door and sure enough, it was a strong one. I winced as a sharp stabbing pain rang around my rib area. I did not know what it was and I was not a doctor, so the best thing to do was to ignore it until I had gotten Jade the help he needed. I visually searched around for something to use to break the lock, then my eyes fina

Chapter 69

We hid in the bushes and stayed as quiet as possible. Owls hooted and night creatures sang, but that was not what we were listening to. We had our ears open; to see whether we hear more sounds from the cabin. “I hear nothing,” Jade whispered to me. “Shhh, be quiet,” I replied to him in a breathy way. We stayed quiet and just as I expected, another sound erupted. It was the sound of the opening of the door. We ducked deeper into the bushes and waited to see who would walk out. The door swung open and there stood in a dark suit and smirk, was Sam. He ran his hands through his perfectly styled hair and wet his lips before walking down the small staircase that led to the forest ground. He placed his hands in his pockets and proceeded to walk to the back of the cabin but suddenly stopped, causing my heart to do a backflip. I reached for Jade’s hand and held it tightly in my hand. Sam started to sniff the air. It was clear that he was catching a foreign scent in the air. And that was u

Chapter 70

After an hour of driving on the almost empty road, we got closer to the mansion. But before we could reach there, we passed right past Chad’s house. He was not lying about having a birthday party, I would say that. Loud music boomed from the house and so many people were still there; out in the compound partying. I could not imagine the number of people in the house. “Gosh, they’re celebrating after they tried to kill us,” Jade mumbled, then released a short sigh. He glanced at me and kept his eyes on me for a few seconds longer before asking, “Are you okay? You look like you’re in pain. Are you?” He was right. I was in pain. But I did not want him or anyone to know that. “What are talking about?” I tried to act as normal as possible, but it was not easy because pain tickled my bones with each breath that I took. “Lucia, don’t pretend. I noticed that you were in pain from the moment you freed me from that shack. I saw that you were trying to hide that fact from me so I pretended
