Chapter 21

"Oh! So, you'll disobey him to bring me here, but you won't fight him over claiming me," I pointed out. Erik's look cooled. "Because such a thing would be a fight to the death. Never get between a Draygon and his mate. More than one Draygon has died trying." I opened my mouth to argue with him, yet the seriousness of his gaze told me that I wasn't going to win. "You know you are saying that wrong," I decided to battle out since I was in the mood to be petty. "What word?" he asked. "Dragons. You are pronouncing it Dray-gone," I told him. Erik had a thoughtful look on his face. "I never really thought about it, to be honest. Nerrian is the one who helped me learn their language, and this is how he explained it." "But I thought only you and the King spoke English," I pointed out. "Nerrian. He has his ways. You'll see when you meet him. Now, are you going to correct me all day, or did you want to see the portal?" Erik asked briskly. The look I gave him told him quite clearly that

Chapter 22

My scream echoed through the room, reverberating around the walls over and over again. Somehow the creatures were still louder as they hissed at me. Their jaws opened like a flower to the morning sun, revealing a set of teeth that would have put any proud snake to shame. Bright-yellow and deadly liquid dripped from their incisors, leaving little doubt in my mind that they were poisonous. Their sticky green bodies wiggled out to reveal an eel-like figure. It had two legs situated on the back segment that they lifted on once they were completely free of the pillow. In a panic, I searched around for something to defend myself with. But I was caught between the wall and the bed. I move towards it only to watch their heads track me and prepared to strike. Freezing, I hardly dared to breathe liking them to T-rex; the more I moved, the better they could track me. My mind raced, wondering how on earth I was going to get out of this. I had managed to be backed into a hard corner between them an

Chapter 23

Only then did Tohr put me down, his golden eyes turned molten as he looked over every inch of bared skin. I felt a small burning sensation on my knees where I had fallen and knew that the bleeding was seeping through the veils around my legs. "Did they touch you?" he demanded harshly. I shook my head and crossed my arms over my stomach, trying to stem the panic that I was beginning to feel now that everything was calmed down. "Sanshas. They are the most poisonous creatures on Draygonia. Not as bad in our Draygon forms. Just a mild burning and itching. But in our natural forms, one touch of their poison will burn for days. We are forced to either shift or there is something we can use to neutralize it," he explained, reaching to undo my belt for the skirts. "But if not caught in time. It will burn you from the inside out.""Stop!" I ordered, grabbing his hands. "What are you doing?" "You are bleeding," he stated, trying to grab the belt again and again. "I must make sure that the po

I groaned inwardly but reminded myself that she had already helped me once today. I limped towards the door while the pain in my legs continued to spread and get worse. "Leave it open," Tohr ordered. "If she needs to speak to you or let me know something, then the door will be open so I can hear." I sighed and left the door ajar so that he can hear us, then slowly undressed, and kicked the clothing away. My cheeks flushed as the Draygana began to look me over extremely closely and almost intimately, not missing a spot. Tohr growled slightly on the other side of the doorway. It wasn't a growl of anger. But more of appreciation as if he were enjoying what he was seeing. My head jerked up, and I looked at every mirror trying to see if he was looking at my reflection. But he wasn't visible in any of them.I shook my head at my own silliness and turned back to the Draygana. She hissed and twirled her finger at me, telling me to turn. "She wants you to turn around," Tohr instructed me."

Chapter 25

"I want to get up, Erik," I whined from my bed. "Don't start, Mara," Erik warned me as he looked over my lunch.Erik took a very small bite out of every piece making sure to taste it for poison. A completely ridiculous idea as I had told them a dozen times. Nevertheless, they didn't listen. Ever since "the incident", I had barely been allowed to leave the bed much less the room. When I'd awoken, I had demanded to return to my own room. However, true to his nature, Tohr had refused my demands as well as refused to discuss them further."Come on!" I cried. "It has been three days!! Surely, I'm fully healed! I feel fine! I want to leave this blasted room!!"I got up out of bed and walked towards the closet, where I hoped there would be some sort of clothing options. I would take a bloody tent if that meant I could leave this damned room. "Mara, I mean it. Don't push this. Tohr will be back soon from the villages, and he fully expects to see you safe and sound and, in this room," Erik w

Chapter 26

As we walked, I couldn't help noticing that Tohr shortened his long strides to match my much shorter ones. His arm stayed around my waist possessively as we strolled through the wide courtyard. I took my time noticing the small details of each building. They were all immaculately taken care of, and I noticed that if there was a problem someone was working on it. Each house had some form of a garden in front of or around it. Every fruit I had seen gracing my plate could be seen in the village, along with every flower they had used to decorate the room. Stalls lined the street in front of the house, and the owners were bowing to the king. They seemed to almost beg him to look at their wares. Tohr steered me through them and whispered for me to find something I liked. I shook my head, telling him it wasn't necessary. Yet, my eyes caught on a gorgeous necklace with a glint in it that reminded me of Tohr's eyes. The minute I gave it my attention, it was around my neck in a flash. One of

Chapter 27

Chapter 27For the next hour, Tohr made a huge show of escorting the girl and I around the little market. By the time Tahwilla's mother came looking for her, the little girl was completely under Tohr's spell. The mother thanked Tohr for helping with her child and took her exhausted but bubbly daughter back home. Against my will, I felt my heart melt towards the man as he continued to wave at Tahwilla until she was out of sight. Watching him walk proudly around with the small child on his arm, showing anyone who dared question his stance exactly how wrong they were. Well, it kind of made it hard to not feel a little under his spell, myself. As we walked on towards the exit of the village, I couldn't help noticing how his people bowed and treated him with the utmost respect. And in some cases, adoration. Which wouldn't have been so bad if the bulk of those that came up to him were women. Several of them would casually touch his arm as if they had the right to do so. The sight sparked

Chapter 28

Chapter 28I should have been freaked out more. I wanted to be freaked out more. However, I just couldn't. It was too amazing to be face to face with a creature that had always been considered a myth. It was easy to believe in the unbelievable when one was face to face with it. This whole place was my own personal proof that I hadn't been crazy all along. My own parents thought I was crazy. But I hadn't been… I hadn't been crazy… I laughed out loud and reached for him. He obliged and lowered his head down so I could touch the wide area on his snout."Oh, my God, you are beautiful," I whispered as I petted him. Much to my amazement, a deep purr came from his chest. I could feel his pleasure at my words and my soft, gentle touch along his nose. I wanted to touch his other scales to see if they were just as soft. However, he pulled away and chuffed again, shaking his head before he turned around giving me a closer look at his tail. The elegant slope of his back followed all the way d

Chapter 29

"Oh my god! I swear it's like someone took every color of the rainbow and sprinkled it across your world," I spoke in reverence, standing at the edge of the lake."Thank you, little fyre," his voice came from behind me. I turned to him forgetting that to transform he had to be undressed. "Wow, umm, do you happen to have clothes hidden nearby or something?" I inquired in embarrassment. He chuckled. "Oh, my sweetness, you are going to have to get over your shame one way or another."I dropped my hands but still couldn't quite look at him. My eyes kept going above him to the sky or below him to his feet. "I'm sorry, I just can't yet. Please put something on," I replied, trying to keep my cheeks from being set on fire. He took a step towards me. Putting a hand under my chin, he held my face until I looked into his eyes. "I will get dressed. I had one of my people bring food for us and clothes for me," he told me, pressing a kiss to my forehead. I was a bit shocked that he had though

Chapter 30

My jaw dropped. How were these decisions so easily decided by him? He wanted me as his mate... boom... I would become his mate. Boom... done. He wanted to sleep with me...boom... he sleeps with me. He wanted to win my heart and make me love him then that was what he was going to do."Just like that, huh?" I asked him finally. He opened the weaved basket and began pulling out the food for us. "Yes, just like that," he responded with such certainty that I would have sworn he thought he had already won it. I opened my mouth to explain why it wouldn't that easy, but the smell of the food reminded me that my stomach insisted on eating more. What the heck. I thought to myself. Might as well argue that point later. The basket was amazingly well-stocked for a small, weaved thing. Tohr pulled out various items that could be something akin to fruits and vegetables. As well as something that resembled cheese except it was blue. Then a bottle of what I would assume was their version of wine.
