Chapter One: Strange encounters.

The darkened sky was illuminated by a lightning bolt which struck across the sky. The wind blowing carelessly, with a raging howl. Trees danced, celebrating the storm coming. The full moon hidden behind the angry clouds. It was a dark night indeed. Streets were deserted, no doubt because of the wild strom fast approaching. His eyes scanned around, noting the empty outside. The wind puffing and howling wasn't a bother to him, nor the cold which was chilling to the bone. His face held no expression, his cold eyes hollow and without a single emotion engraved in them. His black leather coat grazed his plain pants, offering him some warmth which he sincerely didn't care about. The streets echoing the sound of his leather boots coming in contact with the cold ground. His hands were delved into the depths of his coat's pockets. Taking long strides, he walked down the streets, letting the wind ruffle his hair. Housing uncertainty within him about continuing his journey, his steps became hes

Chapter 2: Regret.

He sat by the window, eyes trained on the ceiling. It's been weeks since he fed, he needed to feed, his body was in desperate need of it. This was the longest he has gone without eating, two weeks. His animalistic side was calling to him, reminding him that if he wasn't going to do it himself while in control, he'd lose control and still do it. But he refused his primal urges, shutting his eyes to restrain himself, fighting a silent battle inside him. He was punishing him, he needed to feel redemption, to atone for his sins or so he believed. And starving himself was the greatest punishment. A guttural growl escaped his throat, the beast in him threatening to take control. He had chosen to go on that stroll three days ago, to distract himself from the growing hunger and increased weakness. If not for the fact that he had to dive into the water to save that girl, he could have still had a little bit of energy and a lesser hunger to deal with. A scream from him boomed in the room, his

Chapter three: Approach

The room echoed with the melancholic tunes being played on a piano. He sat, his fingers tapping away on the keys, combining notes to create a melody. His attention immersed in the song he was bringing to life. He always was creative with instruments, knowing how to twist notes to relay the music he had in head to the world. "Someone is in a good mood." He stopped immediately and turned to find Giselle behind him with two cups in her hands emitting steam. She walked up to him and dropped one by the edge of the piano for him. She found a chair and pulled it close to have a sit next to him. Blowing on her tea, she brimmed with a smile as she listened to him continue to play. "I didn't hear you come back home last night." She dropped her cup and turned to him. Lucien sat quietly, raking his eyes over the the keyboard quickly, intuitively knowing which key to press next to match the music in his head. "That's because I never left." He moved his hands slowly, feeling his harmony come to an

Chapter Four: Old codes

Grabbing what was left of the list Giselle had put in his head, he put them in the cart and pushed it to the check out point. There appeared to be a long queue and Lucien shook his head, pinching the bridge of his nose, while stealing a look at the leather wristwatch adorning his wrist. It was five minutes to 4pm and he couldn't believe that two hours had been wasted shopping for food. Time was a meaningless blur these days. In his defence, food was a delicate thing and selecting ingredients for it required patience and articulation, observation and survey. The canned food took most of his time in honesty. He had carefully read the branding on each can of food that piqued his interest. And from the queue, he could tell another hour in this store is guaranteed. Placing himself on the other line that had just been created to make the check-out process faster, he scanned around for any tall black haired lady clad in a yellow tank top and ripped baggy jeans. He had expected that she'd ha

Chapter Five: Contemplation and decisions.

Quietness. Absolute quietness. Silence washed over the living room as he sat on a couch, knees slightly apart with his elbows resting on them and his chin rested on the harness he had created with his interlaced finger.Giselle stared at him, at a lose for words at his confession earlier. He hasn't said a word after that, just marched into the house, plopped himself down onto the couch, preferring to reverie in his troubles alone than to speak. She was drifting in silence, still unsure if she had heard right.Lucien hated humans and he avoided them as much as he avoided his fellow Vampires. Though the hate was a thousand times more on the side of the humans. So why on earth would he speak of the old code of Vampires? Why would he ask if she knew how to break it?She stared at him, her expression a mixture of everything shocked and utterly confused. She opened her mouth to let her curious questions fly out like fierce bullets but couldn't muster the will to. Her eyes flickered around t

Chapter Six: Hello to the truth.

Grudging steps came into the kitchen and Giselle immediately turned, strands of her ombre locks falling into her parted lips. She tucked her loose, wild strands behind her ear with a smile, "good morning, had a nice night?" She wiped her hands on a napkin and turned to the fridge, she fixed herself in front of it and began searching for heaven knows what. He sighed and averted his eyes from her slender figure. "Ahh, here we are," he heard her say as she retracted her head with a triumphant smile, "Thought we forgot to restock on this," she waved the pack of jalapenos at him.He kissed his teeth dryly and darted to the seats lined in front of the kitchen counter and sat down. "You did…" he rose his heavy eyes to stare at her, "It was a last minute pop-in." She approached him and roughened his hair, "what will I do without you?" "Oh, spare me this morning Giselle." His voice was heavy and extremely hoarse."Rough night?" She asked while dicing the jalapenos into tiny rings."Hm. More

Chapter Seven: Patience and hindrance.

"What happened?" Giselle stared at Lucien who was carrying a limp, muddy young lady in his arms. The mud on her stained his clothes as he stood in the living, his eyes staring at Giselle and the girl in his arms at a loss for words. "Panic attack, she passed out." He stared at the girl in his arms and back and Giselle. "Giselle, please come have her. I'm afraid I am already stressed out about all this and I do think I'm just about ready to vomit any moment from now…" his plain voice held a slight hint of disgust and complete honesty. Giselle rushed to his side, gently picking up the human in his arms before Lucien actually does vomit on her. She knew he wasn't joking. "Why does she smell like farm poop?" Her nose wrinkled as the smell washed her insides clean, rendering her with the option of emptying her breakfast. Now she understood why Lucien looked disgusted. The smell was awful. "Because she has been in contact with it. I found her tiling the soil and judging by the mud on he
