Kids in a Library

"Becca, wait up!" Demitri yelled ahead at the human shaped blur in front of him."Demitri, hurry up!" Becca yelled back at the audible speck. Demitri crossed his arms in front of his torso and pouted, knowing that he could not catch up even if he tried."You do this every morning! Slow down!" Demitri shouted. Becca smiled at the loud words, then looked back to see Demitri standing still. Her smile faded as her feet slowed to a stop. She let out a heavy sigh and gestures for Demitri to follow her. She waited for Demitri to catch up and started walking at his pace."Just because you're the track team captain doesn't mean you need to show off." Demitri muttered under his breath, his arms still crossed. "It's not

Friends in a Field

Demitri kept his deal with Becca. The next day after class, Becca practically dragged him out to the track. Demitri took a seat while all the other kids started doing dramatic stretches to warm up. Buddies in a Bedroom

Months passed and Demitri and Becca slowly got more competative. Demitri started running and eventually took over Becca's spot as track team captain. It was more for Kendra's sake, but Demitri would be lying if he said he didn't enjoy an excuse to spend more time with his friends. Every Friday after school, Kendra, Steve, and Kyle would join them for book club. They each took turns picking the book, but as usual Becca and Demitri were the only two that actually cared. While they had written summaries and detailed notes about the book, the others brought blank paper most the time so they could catch just enough facts to make it seem like they read it. It was a bit frustrating, but it gave them an excuse to hang out. This was an issue considering it was their last year of highschool together, and they all desperately want to remain friends

Finalists in a Final

Did they both feel the same? Their thoughts were identical, but they made sure their paths never crossed.Becca was studying for her exam when Kendra called her. She sighed, knowing what this was about."Hello?" Becca answered."He dumped me, Becky! Steve fucking dumped me!" Kendra cried into the phone. Becca listened to her sobs. This wasn't news to Becca. She knew that Steve was focused on his basketball career and anytime now, Steve would dump Kendra."I'm so sorry." Becca said, comforting her."I thought that this was it Becky. I thought Steve was my soulmate." Kendra said. Becca mentally sighed and sank in her chair, skimming her study materials while listening to her friend. Kendra droned on about Steve and the break up. Becca nodded along and counted off the stages of grief. "I mean. I
