Carrying this man home isn’t as easy as I expected it would be. He keeps touching my face, distracting me every time I even so much as attempt to shift back into my dragon form, but walking back would be impossible. I finally manage to change my form, but even flying back doesn’t come easy as Max shows signs of being ill from the speed and height. By the time I got back to his place, an hour had come and gone. He was still drunk, but he was slowly dozing off, so with luck, he would go to bed and everything would be fine. At least, that was what I had hoped would happen. Truth is stranger than fiction, though, as Max wrapped his arms around my neck, clinging to me as he complained inaudibly while I tried to get him into his bedroom. “Max, go to sleep now. I cannot understand a word you are saying,” I tell him as I let him cling to me. “You’ve had too much to drink.” Another mumble is all I get back from Max. I sigh and once more lift him into my arms.
