On the first day, when Evelyn sent a photo of Elias peeling shrimp for her, Adele prepared a fire pit and burned every photo she had ever taken with him.

On the second day, when Evelyn sent a picture of her kissing Elias under an oak tree, Adele hired workers to uproot every cherry tree Elias had planted in the villa’s backyard.

On the third day, Evelyn shared a compilation of Elias’ romantic declarations from her livestream. In response, Adele dug out the hundreds of love letters Elias had written to her over the years.

The letters had yellowed slightly with age, but his handwriting remained clear and bold.

She ran her fingers over the words one last time, then fed every single letter into the shredder without a hint of hesitation.

On the morning of her planned departure, Adele awoke to find Elias standing by the bed.

He was holding her phone, his expression dark and unreadable as his gaze met hers.

"Addie," he said quietly, "you just received a message saying something was successfully deactivated. What were you deactivating?"

Her heart skipped a beat.

She quickly took the phone back and unlocked the screen.

It was the confirmation message for her identity cancellation.

Thankfully, her phone was password-protected, and Elias had only seen a few words on the lock screen.

Feeling relieved, she kept her tone casual. "Oh, nothing important. One of my old social media accounts got hacked, so I recovered it and then deactivated it for safety."

Hearing this, Elias visibly relaxed and pulled her into his arms with a smile.

"Sweetheart, guess what I got for you?" he asked teasingly.

Adele froze for a moment before answering softly, "The sweet cream puffs from Eastland.”

Elias’ eyes lit up with surprise. "How did you know?"

How could she not know?

Back when they were dating, every time Elias made her angry, he would drive all the way across town to buy those sweet cream puffs as a peace offering.

The sweet, fragrant aroma always melted her resolve, no matter how upset she was.

She didn’t care for jewelry or luxury cars. That one bite of sweetness was all she needed to feel better.

Back then, he would laugh and say, "My Addie is so easy to please."

She would tap his forehead lightly a few times and reply, "It’s not that I’m easy to please. It’s because I still love you. That’s why I’m willing to forgive anything you do."

"But," she’d add, her tone turning serious, "if the day ever comes when I don’t love you anymore, not even killing yourself in front of me will change a thing."

The memory faded like a distant echo as Elias pulled a box of sweet cream puffs from behind his back, his smile filled with warmth. "As expected, I can never hide anything from you."

Adele gave a faint smile and said slowly, each word deliberate, "That’s right. You can’t hide anything from me."

For a moment, Elias’ heart skipped a beat, a vague sense of unease creeping in.

"Addie..." he murmured, his voice low.

But Adele didn’t respond. She simply got up and headed to the bathroom to freshen up.

When she returned, she saw Elias hurriedly leaving the villa.

She stood silently for a couple of seconds before following him outside.

The moment she reached the door, she froze.

Not far from the entrance, Evelyn was standing there, bold as day.

Adele’s surprise was nothing compared to Elias’. His expression darkened, and he stormed toward Evelyn, his grip tightening around her wrist.

"Are you out of your mind? Why are you here? I told you that when Addie’s home, you’re not allowed to show up!"

Evelyn flinched at his sharp tone, her entire body trembling as her eyes reddened with tears.

Reaching out, she tugged at the hem of his shirt, her voice breaking with feigned fragility.

"I can’t be away from you, not even for a moment. The baby can’t either," she said softly, guiding his hand to rest against her stomach.

Elias’ expression remained cold as he pulled his hand away. "Stop being ridiculous. I’ll have my assistant take you home. I’ll come to see you and the baby in a few days."

But Evelyn refused to leave, clutching his hand tightly as she pouted. "No, I don’t want to go with the assistant. I want you to take me!"

With that, she stood on her toes, tugging on his tie as she leaned in to kiss him.

Elias frowned, intending to push her away, but after a few moments of her persistence, he relented. With a rough motion, he grabbed her and deepened the kiss, pulling her tightly into his arms.

They stood in the garden, the kiss growing increasingly heated.

Just as his hand slid beneath her clothes, on the verge of losing all restraint, he abruptly stopped. Pushing her away, he said firmly, "You should leave."

Evelyn’s eyes shimmered with unshed tears as she clung to him, whispering something in his ear.

His expression shifted slightly, and after a moment of hesitation, he finally sighed. "Fine. I’ll spend today with you. Go wait in the car and I’ll join you soon."

Feeling satisfied, Evelyn beamed, her eyes crinkling with delight. She stroked her stomach and happily climbed into the car.

The moment Elias turned and began heading back to the villa, Adele swiftly turned away, retreating before he could see her.

A few moments later, Elias entered the house.

The first thing he said was, "Addie, I wanted to spend the day with you, but I just got a call about a work emergency. I have to leave. Be good and stay home. Once I’m done, I promise I’ll spend the whole day with you. Okay?"

He waited anxiously for her response, but Adele simply lifted her gaze and looked at him.

Her expression was unreadable.

Just one glance at her, and Elias froze.

When had his Addie lost the light in her eyes?

His Adam’s apple bobbed as he unconsciously murmured her name, "Addie…"

He wanted to say more, but Adele spoke first. Her lips curved faintly, and her voice was soft and calm, "Go ahead. Take care of your work."

Her tone was as gentle as ever, revealing nothing unusual.

Feeling relieved, Elias finally relaxed.

He smiled faintly, ruffled her hair affectionately, and turned to leave.

Moments later, the sound of his car starting echoed outside, fading away into the distance until it disappeared entirely.

The smile on Adele’s face vanished, replaced by silent tears that slid down her cheeks.

She wiped them away, her movements steady, and walked to the table. Without hesitation, she tossed the box of sweet cream puffs into the trash.

Then she went to her room to retrieve the suitcase she had packed long ago.

Standing in the living room, she gave the house one final look before pulling out her phone.

She sent Elias one last message.

"It’s been two weeks. You can open the anniversary gift I gave you now."

His reply came almost instantly.

"Sweetheart, I’ll be back soon. Let’s look at it together then."

Adele smiled faintly.

Together?

“Elias, it’ll only be you,” she replied to him in her thoughts. “For the rest of your life, you’ll be all alone.”

Without hesitation, Adele removed the SIM card from her phone. Then, as if discarding something insignificant, she tossed it into the trash.

Grabbing her suitcase, she stepped out the door.

The morning sun blazed brightly, casting the world in golden light.

From this day forward, no one, no matter where they searched, would ever find Adele again.

"Do you… know where Addie went? When did she leave?" Elias asked, his voice hoarse as he licked his dry lips. The staff exchanged uneasy glances before one of them replied, "Sir, Mrs. Sterling left early this morning with her suitcase. We don’t know where she went." Left? Where could she have gone?Elias’ mind was blank, flooded with a wave of panic as he struggled to think. Her parents had long since remarried and built separate families, so there was no chance she’d go to them. Clinging to a shred of hope, he began calling her friends. "Hello? This is Elias Sterling. Maybe Adele had known about the affair all along. The thought hit Elias like a bolt of lightning. He had convinced himself he was careful enough, that he could balance Adele and Evelyn without either world colliding. Evelyn was nothing more than a fleeting distraction, something he would never allow to touch Adele’s world. Or so he thought. But somehow, Adele had found out. When did it all start? How could she be so resolute, so ruthless, as to divorce him and vanish completely from his life? His vision blurred as tears welled in his eyes, slipping past his defenses. And then, a memory surfaced—a moment from years ago, when Adele had agreed to marry him. "I’ll do my best to be a good wife," she’d said, her voice steady and sincere. "But I’ll never tolerate being lied to. If you ever deceive me, I’ll disappear from your life forever." Back then, Elias had been so confident, so certain he would never betray her. He loved her too much and wanted her too deeply. He’d felt as if

Elias instinctively wanted to tear the divorce papers in his hands, but then a sobering realization struck him—this might be the last thing she had left him. If he destroyed it, he’d lose even this final, fragile connection to her. His fingers traced over Adele’s signature again and again, his eyes filled with aching longing. "Addie, it’s my fault. I shouldn’t have been with another woman. I only love you!" "You can hit me, yell at me, anything you want… Just please, don’t leave me." "I can’t live without you, Addie…" He repeated his apologies over and over until his voice was raw, cracked with desperation. But the person who needed to hear them wasn’t there. It was all in vain. "Adele, I haven’t signed these papers. That means we’re not divorced. We’re still husband and wife, and I will find you!" Elias’ eyes burned with determination as he spoke, his jaw set with resolve. He would never let her go. She was his, always had been, and he’d admit his faults, but h

A photo of a disheveled bed flashed onto Elias' screen, and his fury ignited instantly, his gaze cutting through the image like a blade.“So…it’s you!” His voice was icy, laced with a pressure so overwhelming it was suffocating. Without hesitation, he typed a message, “Evelyn, I believe I warned you—do not let Addie find out about anything between us!”After sending the message, Evelyn glanced at it and let out a dismissive chuckle. With an air of defiance, she dialed a number.“Adele, when did you learn to mimic Elias’ tone? You almost sounded like him. Anyway, if I were you, I’d have handed over the position as Elias’ wife by now. After all, I’m already carrying Elias’ child. Who knows? He might propose to me soon.”Her confidence grew as she continued, “When that happens, you’ll be the one tossed out without a shred of dignity. If you don’t want it to end that way, why not step down sooner? At least you’d save yourself some pain. Otherwise, you’ll lose everything and be left in d

That was when an idea struck her. It was the only way to protect herself. She quickly pulled out her streaming equipment, adjusted her makeup and outfit, and did her best to appear as pitiful and fragile as possible. Once everything was set, she started her livestream, letting silent tears roll down her cheeks, her expression full of grievance. "Everyone… I’ve been wronged," she began, her voice trembling with vulnerability. "My boyfriend… he has another girlfriend. He might even leave me for her… but I’m carrying his child! How could he do this to me? He used to love me so much… how could he change like this?" Her voice cracked as she broke down, tears streaming as she wove her tale. "Shut up! Evelyn, remember this—you’re nothing more than a fleeting distraction. What gives you the right to compare yourself to Addie?" His gaze was frigid, a dangerous glint darkening his eyes. "It’s just a child. If I wanted one, I could have as many as I pleased." He turned to his bodyguards and ordered, "Take her to the hospital. Get rid of it." Evelyn froze, panic washing over her as she clutched her stomach protectively. This child was her last lifeline—her only ticket to survival and luxury. She couldn’t lose it! In a desperate attempt, she broke free and bolted toward the crowd. “They’ll save me!” she thought frantically. “They promised they’d protect and stand up for me!”Elias gestured to his bodyguards, signaling them to stop. But Elias had no intention of giving Evelyn that chance. He had already done enough to betray Adele. If he ever hoped to win her back, he couldn’t keep this child. If the baby was born, any possibility of reconciliation with Adele would be gone forever. With a hardened resolve, Elias ordered his bodyguards to drag Evelyn to the hospital. She fought and struggled with all her might, but against several bodyguards, her resistance was futile. Before long, she found herself on the cold, sterile surface of an operating table. As the anesthesia coursed through her veins, she felt her limbs grow heavy and unresponsive, her eyelids closing despite her efforts to stay awake. When she woke, her stomach felt hollow—aching and empty. The baby, her last hope, was gone. Pain radiated from her abdomen, making even the slightest movement unbearable. The reality hit her like a freight train. The child was truly gone. Evelyn lay in the hospital bed, her body trembling with despair. A

"Addie!" Elias jolted awake, calling out Adele’s name. Elliot sat by the bedside, his expression dark and severe. "Elias Sterling, from this moment on, you’re to focus on work and getting your health back. You are not to look for Adele again!" Her calm, resolute voice filled the room, shattering every ounce of Elias’ confidence. When the recording ended, the room fell into an oppressive silence. Elias' nervousness grew more palpable, and a faint sheen of cold sweat dampened his palms. He stood there waiting, but no one came to the door. Panic stirred in his chest, and without thinking, he reached out to push the door. To his dismay, it was firmly locked, refusing to budge. Nearby, a small blackboard caught his attention. On it were the words: "Closed today."At first, he had assumed the sign meant Adele was expecting him—that she had marked the inn as closed to other guests, leaving it just for their reunion. But now, the meaning was painfully clear: she had no intention of seeing him. At that moment, it dawned on him. Adele had played him. She had never planned to meet with him. This was her way of rejecting him. Every detail screamed at him, loud and unforgiving. “Sorry, I’m not going to forgive you.”Elias stared at the inn in disbelief. His mind reeled back to the past, to the moments they had dreamed of together. Back then, they had talked about opening a seasid

At first, the public merely mocked the situation. Some, envious of the reward, deliberately provided useless information and false evidence. However, as time went on, valid leads began to surface. Once people realized they could actually claim the prize, many online users started to frantically pitch in. Even Adele heard about the news. Countless people were determined to track her down, yet she felt no gratitude toward them. Instead, she found it slightly aggravating. She had already erased her identity—wasn’t that enough to show her resolve? Adele knew herself well. She wasn’t the kind of person who would go back to what she had left behind. From beginning to end, she had never planned to forgive him. Looking at Elias’ words of apology, she found them utterly ridiculous. If he knew he was in the wrong, why had he pretended nothing had ever happened before?
