CHAPTER 7Alexa's POV The pack was silent. The silence seemed to strangle the little life I had left in me. When I had decided to leave the pack, I was unsure of my decision. But, as I packed the little bag stuffed with clothes and water and bread, I was sure I was making them right decision. The girls I shared the room with were all knocked out, snoring their hearts away and irritating me further. As I finally took a step out, bag in hand, I could feel my heart skip. Not in the lovey dovey way that hearts tend to skip when they see the ones they love, but in a frightened way.I was afraid of the unknown, of the world I was planning to go and call mine. What if things turn out to be worse there than they are here? Obviously I won't be able to return back to the pack because I would be subjected to so much ridicule and probably enough punishments to knock me out for eternity.I shook away the nervous thoughts in my head. No! I should be positive. Positive thinking hurts no one.My m
CHAPTER 8Alexa's POV The covens were exactly how I remembered it. The lights that shine around the numerous clusters of small houses. I walked purposefully, knowing just where I was headed.Alaria had a house in the very heart of the city. When I asked her I remember her saying something about being able to focus better. That was good anyways. Because I would need her utmost focus now. I won't want her performing a spell that might unalive me by accident. The streets seemed to be devoid of life. The very few people I saw paid me no heed, just going on about their day like I did not matter. They were all dressed in the same manner. They were dressed in the same long gown that had a hood and a crest of which ever coven they belonged to.I liked the covens. It was peaceful and united. Although there were numerous covens, they were all under one barrier, making it a mini nation of some sorts. They all looked and related alike. It was almost impossible to tell who was from a different c
CHAPTER 9Alexa's POV Alaria looked at me like I had gone mad, which in truth, I was beginning to think I was.The human world was dangerous and vast. What the humans lacked in strength and agility, they made up for it with wills and brains. They were devilishly smart and always thought of new ways to hurt themselves and everyone around them." I'm being serious Alaria, it's the least you can do for me after everything that has happened" I said, deciding to play the victim card." No, don't do that, don't black mail me into this. Do you know what you are asking for Alexa? And I understand your wolf has not come yet, but what if she is just late. You are a werewolf Alexa, and a strong one at that, running really is not a good idea" she said holding my hands just like she always did when we were kids and I felt bad about something.I pulled my hands from hers, steeling my eyes." Are you going to help me or not. I'm going to the human world with or without your help Alaria." I said.S
CHAPTER 10Alexa's POV A fresh start. The human world was definitely not what I bargained for. It was too much. It was rowdy and no one seemed to care about anyone here.Everyone had a particular purpose and just pushed past to get to their purposes. As I stood there, shoes stained with mud and clothes covered with leaves and dew from the forest, I was sure this would be my fresh start.I had absolutely no idea where to go. But the one thing I knew was I was going to survive and never go back to the packs.I stumbled into a shop, my feet dragging mud as I stepped in.It was a dainty little coffee shop packed full with people sitting at round tables as they sipped coffee and ate round shaped bread. The waitress scrunched up her nose as I approached her. I couldn't blame her though. I looked like something a dog dragged in." What can I get for you?" She said in a condescending voice as she eyed me up and down.I have had my fair share of bimbos, I have talked to enough to know that th
CHAPTER 11Alexa's POV The good Samaritan The door was opened by a little girl. Probably around nine. " Daddy" she yelled happily as she flew into his hands, successfully tackling him as he laughed.I smiled sadly. It reminded me of my own father. He would always show up to my room every evening with a bunch of flowers and chocolates. For a long time, he called himself my husband and I liked it. I shook my head, expelling the bad thoughts from my head. No use crying over spilt milk. The little girl's attention finally was turned to me now.On noticing me, she shyly hid behind her father's large frame, her small doe eyes peeking from behind him." It's nothing to be scared about honey. Go get your sister and your mum" the man said, as he waved me inside.I took off my shoes cautiously as I studied the environment. It was a typical family house.Portraits and pictures of the shy little girl and another older one, probably around my age hung around. There were medals and awards hung
Alexa's POV The bath water was soothing on my skin as I washed up. I just stood underneath the water, allowing it to run down my back and wash away all the dirt and grime i had gathered from the forest floors. The shampoo smelt like roses, the good kind, not the artificial ones Aries bought for me.I heard the toilet door opened just as I finally settled down to fully scrub my body." I brought you a change of clothes. They should be your size I guess, I honestly don't know " Hayley's voice said from outside the shower curtain." Thanks " I replied, waiting for the door to open so she could leave. But it didn't.I peered out the bathroom curtain to see her sitting there, just dangling her legs as she sat on the counter. She saw me looking and smiled." It's okay, I just want to get to know you better. I know it would be a whole fuss if you step outside now with mum still lurking in the room with her curious gaze." She said.I wanted to believe that was not creepy so I just turned the
Alexa's POV When I woke up finally, it was way past my regular waking up time at the pack house.I stretched my limbs lazily, feeling more relaxed than I ever have in the past three years. I carefully folded the duvet, grateful for the warmth it provided me throughout the night.Hayley was nowhere to be found. I guessed she had probably left before me.I went down to the kitchen, looking for any remote sign of life so I could finally express my gratitude.Thank you was not something I liked saying, but in cases like this, it was very well deserved." Oh hello Alexa. Do you want to walk me to school?" A cute voice said from behind me,startling me.Gem was all dressed for school, in a preppy uniform, her glasses sitting on her nose as she stared at me." Of course I would love to, but first I want to see your mum" I said to her slowly, trying to be nice. I never particularly liked children. They were too much work, but she seemed different. She was way smarter than other kids, so mayb
Alexa's POV Allison was still in the kitchen when I arrived back home. I could hear her humming a happy tune as she cleaned up.She must have heard the door open because she called out," Alexa, is that you?" " Yes Allison" I said, as I made my way towards the kitchen." Oh you are back, I set your breakfast on the table so just eat up and take a bath. I want to show you around the shop and fill you in on the daily opening routine." She said.I nodded, going towards the table to fill my stomach up with her cooking.I never particularly learnt how to cook. But my mum was a great cook. She had never really thought of cooking a big deal, neither have I. But as I took the first bite of the bacon, I wished I knew how to cook.To treat my self to good meals whenever I felt like it.I finished eating in record time, mostly because it was too delicious I nearly choked on each bite. The set of clothes that Hayley brought out was a simple pair of jeans and a shirt that said " hey momma" It w
Alexa's POV He had pulled back from me smirking, a mischievous glint in his eyes like he had been able to achieve what he wanted. My brain was mushy although it was not my first kiss. Perhaps it was because of the sound of everyone cheering me and teasing or probably because of the smug look on his face, but I drew my hand back and landed a well articulated slap on his face.He did not even flinch, looking at me with his eyes raised in confusion." I thought you wanted me to kiss you" he said." Wanted? You just went all ninja on me. Is this what you wanted all along? A kiss? Or what more?" I asked, suddenly flaring up more than I was supposed to." What no...I want you. All that is just the bonus. Why don't you trust me?" He asked, a look of hurt crossing his features. " Just go..." I muttered. He nodded his head slowly, before he walked away."Hey, why did you do that? You know he likes you and I know you sure as hell like him. So what's wrong?" Hayley said, pulling me aside." I
Alexa's POV The next morning was awkward for the both of us. For one, she did not know how to act around me again and for some reason, she seemed to look at me like I was some god or something.Did she not get the part where I told her I did not have a wolf? Obviously she missed that part because her eyes were saying it all." Hey, I don't want to go to school today. Is there any way you can like...I don't know...teleport me somewhere else so my mum doesn't figure it out?" She asked.I looked at her weirdly." When In the world did I tell you I could teleport" I asked. This girl was unbelievable." But you can fly right? Like all those super hero movies and stuff. Oh this is all too much" she said, putting a hand on her head.I tried not to facepalm as I picked her bag up and chucked it into her hands." Get your butt out of here and get to school before I actually lose my shit right now" I said, my eyes desperately trying to look angry. She sighed, flinging the bag over her shoulder
Alexa's POV When I finally opened my eyes, I was on the soft cushioned bed that I was so used to. The room was familiar, a vibrant female teenage room.I struggled to remember what happened. I hated it when I blacked out, it was always hard to remember events that happened and although I did not regularly black out, it was always an unpleasant encounter that I would rather avoid.Hayley was sitting at the side of the bed, her head lulling to sleep as she struggled to stay awake." Hey" I called out softly, tapping her arms. She got up with a jolt, her eyes looking about quickly before it finally settled on my face. She shifted back a little avoiding my touch and shocking me.What the hell happened last night? Or before I fainted? Was it even still that night? Then suddenly, like a wave, it came rushing back to me, punching me in the guts. The nagging headaches, the floating and then the blacking out.I looked at Hayley. Oh, she had seen it." Who are you...or what are you? Are you
Alexa's POV I looked at her face, expectation written on every inch of it. I sighed, wondering just how to tell her and explain to her without revealing anything about mates and the werewolf community. After I told her the edited version of the story, I watched her grin from ear to ear for a solid minute." I swear to the goddess that if you don't stop grinning I would legit punch a hole into your teeth." I threatened, slightly annoyed by her overly annoying smile." I mean, I just can't help it. Did you see the guys that just walked in? I would marry each of them without a single hesitation. And here you are, with basically every woman's dreams and you are like oh, you don't want him around?" She asked, her face mirroring the surprise that lingered in her voice.I shifted uncomfortably on the chair, not wanting to go down that route. Explaining things about my pack and remembering the idiot I fell helplessly in love with hurt way more than I would like to admit.I sighed, deciding t
CHAPTER 24Alexa's POV The next couple of days were not that bad. I did not like him yet, but I knew I was getting there. And the thought on its own scared me. I did not want to like a werewolf. The whole species of them were ruthless heart breakers and dominant males who thought a mate was supposed to be submissive.I knew he had not displayed any of those characteristics but It was only a matter of time before he finally did.He still thought I was a human. I did not have any plans of correcting that mistake any time soon anyways. I watched him stumble on his words trying to tell me what he really is.Hayley would be coming back today and i was genuinely excited to see her again. She was probably the first human that won my heart and she knew just how well to keep it.As I tidied up the coffee shop, my regular stalker no where to be found, I could not help but wonder just how things were going at the pack.Did they even try to look for me? This whole hiding my scent thing, perhaps
Chapter 23Lucian's POVI had never hoped for a mate, or for love. I was just satisfied with having a few flings here and there. It was no fault of mine that I was a lycan, but I was definitely the one paying the price. But when I stepped into that coffee shop and the intoxicating scent hit my nostrils, it was like a whole new world was opened up.At first I had just been craving a cup of coffee, and perhaps a light snack to go with it, but stepping into the shop, my hunger for something else increased.I did not know what I wanted but I knew that it was that intoxicating scent that had me all wrapped in a knot. The scent was coming from a small human, her long hair pulled up in a ponytail and her lips curled down in a frown. My wolf was beginning to become impatient, just waiting for a chance to look at her. And when that chance finally came, looking into her pure orb like eyes, my wolf uttered the words I never thought I would hear.Mate.But so far, I have been finding out that h
Alexa's POV I was dreading going to the coffee shop the next day. Not because I cared what he did or if he came back, but mostly because I did not want to admit the fact that he may actually be my mate.I heard sparks flew when mates touched. But the only thing that flew was insults and maybe today a broken nose might be added to that list. But of course, the moon goddess never really addressed any of my prayers. When he walked in just shortly after I opened the shop, I prepared myself for a mental breakdown that was long over due anyways." I thought I made myself clear when I said I don't want to see your pathetic face any where around me?" I asked the moment he stepped up to the counter." Ouch. Are you always this brutal?" He asked." I thought I answered this question yesterday." I asked." Look I know it's hard for you to just see a random stranger walking up to you and probably being a douche, but I really need to talk to you and honestly there are things you don't understand.
Alexa's POV When things went too perfect, I always knew there would be a twist soon. Most of the time it was always a bad twist. Sometimes there is a good twist here and there but nothing spectacular. It was another normal day at the cafe shop. I was bored out of my mind and just wanted to curl into a ball and die. But of course death was a luxury I could not get.Hayley and gem had gone with their dad to visit a niece or something, I was not really paying attention to what she was saying.I was dozing off slowly already, my head banging the counter a few times when the door opened.Their presence was announced with the looming shadow their huge figures casted on me. I raised my head up groggily, hoping they already decided on their orders so I could go back to drifting in and out of sleep. They were huge. The one on the left hand had a long tattoo that reassembled a dragon, running into his shirt.I looked at their faces one after the other, my eyes slowly leading to the one in the
Alexa's POV When I opened my eyes, I was in a room. A room different from the one I fell asleep in. I looked around unsurely, touching a few paintings and trying to find a soul.Voices were coming from just beyond the door outside. There were approaching the room faster now. The door burst open and a strange man entered, carrying someone in his arms.He looked devastatingly handsome but that was a trait I was used to seeing in most men. He also felt oddly familiar. Like I had met him somewhere. He dropped the body on the bed, his arms shaking." Where is the pack doctor? Don't you see she is bleeding out?"he growled pointing to the body and screaming out the door. Two women and a man entered inside. " Alpha you really have to calm down She would be fine" the old man said. For some reasons, I was beginning to freak out." Where am I and who are you people?" I asked firmly. The man looked in my direction. I felt my heart clench. No, he was definitely more handsome than any guy I hav
