The room was getting colder, and Zain felt the need to adjust the temperature of the Air Conditioner. The young guy advanced to his bed, grabbed the AC remote and increased the temperature to twenty six. His room was spacious and large enough to accommodate five times the size of his bed. All furniture were made of expensive wood. The wall was covered in wallpaper of different types of surfboards, ocean and the wave, a huge flat TV screen and a splint AC were perfectly fixed to provide enough luxury and comfort to the owner.

Zain is that sort of guy who never gives room for others to find his weaknesses. There were teachers who detested the idea of making him a disciplinary head prefect, but they had to give in as no any other student was qualified enough to handle it. Zain excelled in school in almost every aspect. First position in the overall grades of the senior classes has been his spot for two years now because when other students would play soccer and go to places like clubs at their free time, Zain would either be indoor studying, or outdoor surfing in the waves with his surfboard.

The door of his room abruptly swung open as a young woman stepped into his personal space without hesitating to knock. Not even a second of privacy did Coreen allowed her step son. "Zain, we're leaving for New York with your Daddy. I told Samantha to move in and manage the house until we get back. Take care of yourself baby." Coreen said, before she head back out hurriedly and slammed the door shut without wasting a minute to listen to what Zain has to say in reply. She already had a prior thought that her husband's rude son wouldn't have any nice words to say to her anyway.

Zain strolled to his study table and chair where he plopped down, already feeling irritated and angry with his Father's foxy wife Coreen. A woman who was just twenty seven years old; ten years older than him but she keeps calling him with all sort of foolish titles. Who the fuck was her baby? And why did she had to intrude in his personal space only to bother him with such a useless info? They —Coreen and his Dad, should both get lost and leave the house to rot if they wish to. This wouldn't be their first time traveling and leaving the house for months.

Zain found himself angrily muttering curses at the way Coreen addressed him like a kid. As he flipped to the next page of his mathematics workbook, a weird memory flashed into his head and he slowly laid back in his chair, roughening his black, shiny hair. What has gotten into him now? Is he seriously thinking about what he has done to that new ugly chick in school?

"Mom. I can't locate the house. I'm stuck somewhere around this Betty Palace please come and get me" Sasha complained into the phone, standing near a tall signboard which has an elegant calligraphy written 'Betty Palace.' on it.

"Dear, am on my way now. Just stay on the phone okay? I'm coming straight to Betty Palace now."

"Okay Mom please hurry." Sasha said with urgency, peeking at the surrounding. It was dark but the rich neighborhood was shining with the right amount of lights. Sasha thought its eerily silent and not bustling with activities like her neighborhood. Its scary. If only her Mom would agree to allow her sleep at home, none of this would have happened. She would've finished all her assignments by this time.

Sasha spotted a casually dressed woman coming straight ahead of her direction so she quickly hastened and approached the woman first before she could trek any longer. She hugged her mom lovingly. "Mom. . . Why do you have to agree with sleeping in this place? Why won't you say no to their demands?"

Sasha's Mother looked too tired, though she managed to explain the situation to her child. "You have a lot to learn dear. If I make a mistake and get fired on this job we won't be able to live a decent life. Even though my current boss treats me better, I fear that the young Madam will stop sponsoring your education if I go against her wishes."

"You worry too much about me that's why you're aging. Lets just go. I hate this neighborhood. It's creepy silent"

The two trekked down to the large and exotic looking Mansion and Sasha admired the beauty of the environment surrounded with well tamed flowers. There were more insanely bigger and beautiful houses along the pathway all covered with grass lawn. She could see another white Mansion almost as big as her new school.

What a paradise to live in.

Yet, most of those rich people are so ungrateful and mean. Sasha stuck with her mom as she recalled the embarrassment she faced in school once again. She can't even complain about it after what her mom has gone through to get her transferred there even though there was nothing wrong with her old school. In fact, it was much fun and comfortable to tag along with people of the same level rather than the rich kids who do not have any manners.

"Mom... For how long do I have to stay here?" She whispered into her Mother's ears as they entered through the gate.

"Until they return from their trip"

"But do they know that you're bringing another person? Am I staying here illegally?"

"I informed the young Madam that you will be coming at night to sleep with me and she agreed"

"Is there anyone in the house?"

"Yes. The youngest son is on the left wing of the mansion while the first daughter only comes around once in a while with her husband"

"Okay then. Mom I'm hungry, do I get to eat food before I sleep?"

"Of course dear. Food is not a problem in this household"

Sasha giggled merrily. Food was one of the basic things she never joked with. At least her sixteen year old brain need the energy in other to study hard and fulfill her Mother's dreams. Her Mother's happiness and comfort has always been her biggest dream.

Zain's alarm began to blare into his ears, sending him on alert at once in his sitting position. His eyes felt heavy and his head was badly aching, as the realization settled into his head. Looks like it's gonna be a sour day at school.Zain quickly got up and rushed to his bathroom to prepare for school. As a prefect, he needed to always get to school before 7:30am in other to catch and punish those latecomers sneaking their ways through the back fences.Within the next fifteen minutes, Zain brushed his teeth, showered and dressed up in his blue trouser and white shirt uniform. Zain thought as he arrogantly strode his legs and entered into

It was morning, and the beautiful morning twilight was beginning to break in as Samantha was scrubbing hard on the kitchen floorboards. She suddenly heard a strange sound of shatter like someone has broken one of the ceramics in the sitting room. Hastening to the sitting room to check what was happening, her sight fell on the motionless woman sprawling across the floor. "Lora? Lora!" Samantha called out, rushing in a fit of panic. Sasha was about to enter through the bathroom door when she heard her Mother's panicking voice falling hard into her ears. A freezing chill ran through her body and her heart rate rapidly shot up. Wearing only a pink nightgown with a mass of messy hair scattered across her back, Sasha rushed to the sitting room only to find her Mother clutching the body of a young woman whom she hasn't seen before. "Oh my God! Mom! What's wrong with her?" Samantha took a sharp intake of breath before she exclaimed. "I don't know, qui

Thursdays are sports day at Ravenwood high school. The students normally spend the last two periods engaging in sports and extracurricular fun activities like soccer, basketball, tennis, race, drama, music and others. It was around quarter to 1pm and the sun was hot outdoors when Zain strolled with his sidekicks and headed for the Cafeteria to grab some cool drinks. He was in the basketball team that got bashed to disgrace. It was the first time his team have lost a match and Zain was in a horrible mood all because of that. "Take it off!" "No please.... No..." "Girls. Go on and strip her!" Zain stopped immediately when he heard the word 'strip her'. The yelling and crying voice was coming from the direction of the ladies restroom. The hallway was supposed to be silent and empty at this time when all the students were expected to be at their various clubs. What is happening in there? "Guys, go on. Will catch up shortly" Zain addressed t

Flashback When Sasha left the club room and was walking down the hallway to ease herself in the restroom, she suddenly saw senior Rita and a group of female students walking up to her direction. It was a terrible timing, knowing well that Rita disliked her for reasons she doesn't know of. She kept her head down, trying to hide her face from the mean looking clique. She almost passed by them until Rita bumped her shoulder with hers. Sasha was sure it was deliberate, but she dared herself to not show a negative reaction because they were her seniors. However, that wasn't enough. "Hey! Bitch! Who do you think you are to bump into a prefect?" Rita started, pulling Sasha by the shirt already. "Here in Ravenwood high, you don't just bump into a senior and get away with that!" "I'm sorry." Sasha apologized. There's nothing to apologize for, but this way, she can end the argument before it escalates into a bigger trouble. "Don't let her get away with

Sasha wanted to scream out but the big man's palm descended on her mouth, muffling her screams. She could neither move an inch nor call out for someone's help... for anybody’s help. This sucking bastard hyena will have to kill her first before he fulfill his sinful mission! Sasha rummaged through her mind for escape plans, and thankfully, an idea suddenly popped into her head. She slowly shut her eyes and allowed her stiff body to drop down motionless as though she has fainted. She felt the man's grip loosening a little bit from her wrist at first, and then he completely freed both her hands and mouth and went back to removing his trouser. Sasha felt her cheeks burning up and the little bubbly feeling in her stomach quickly became manifest. With Zain giving her such a passionate confession and a back hug, she was sure that passing out might be the next thing on the agenda list. "Say something. I said I like you." Zain whispered, his voice low and husky and filled with intense emotions. He could feel his own heartbeat pounding against his chest. "I like you." Sasha blurted out, silently. Though she didn't believe that those confessions came right out of her own lips. It was like they have a mind of their own. Blushing as Zain twisted her around to face him, she tried so desperately to hide her silly tomato cheeks. Raising up her eyes, she was met with Zain's intense gaze on her, making her nervous as she instinctively nibbled and chewed on her lips. "They’re very beautiful, Sasha."

Including Samantha, but Lora remained in the hospital due to other existing health complications."Sasha, take this food upstairs to the young Master's room." Samantha said to Sasha who was helping with the arrangement of the dining for the Centineo's family dinner. "Today is Sunday, remember to press your uniforms immediately when you get back. You will be going to school tomorrow.”Sasha groaned in her head, feeling repulsed by the idea of taking the food to Zain's room. • Zero Feet Apart   Chapter 13

Back in the small quarantine room, Zain felt so bored of staying in there alone. He felt like he has been thrown into a cold prison. He was neither an internet geek nor a fan of social media to be able to enjoy pressing into his smartphone. Also, the thoughts of what that Doctor said about them staying longer in quarantine was quite infuriating. He couldn't imagine his life getting stuck with Samantha's daughter. He kept pacing to and fro in the room, his thoughts spiraling in different unspeakable directions — yet he couldn't stop himself from wondering what that Samantha's daughter might be doing in her other side of the room. It's been more than an hour, but he hasn't heard any noises coming from her direction. He was damn curious to know what the girl was doing.Zain walked to the glass barrier, pushed the door open and abruptly entered.Sasha was busy scribbling down something in a note book when Zain abruptly

"I'm ordering you to go back to your place Sasha. And stop touching my hair." Zain barked as he roughly shoved Sasha away from the bed, but his strength accidentally sent the girl toppling onto the floor. "Oh shit, are you okay? Are you hurt?" He asks, flying out of the bed to help Sasha on her feet. She shouldn't have gotten too close to him, why the hell does she makes him feel all sorts of emotions? "Thanks. I'm okay, don't worry." Sasha smiled, trying to not react to the pain in her elbow. She has hit her elbow so hard and she suspected it might have bruised, but she didn't want Zain to feel so bad about it. It wasn't his fault, he's not good in dealing with emotions. But Zain knew something was odd from the way Sasha was nibbling on her lips as though trying to mask her pain. She must've gotten hurt somewhere, though he knew she would never say it because she's such an idiot! While Sasha tried to help herself to get up, Zain leaned in closer and unexpect

Gossips erupted the moment Zain arrived at the school parking lot, with Sasha on the bike. He didn't give a fuck about what the students have to say, but there was a feeling in his mind at this moment, which was becoming a pain to him. Why does he feel like he wants to hold Sasha's hands and personally take her to her classroom? Why does he feel a sort of compulsion to protect the girl? "Wait, I'll get you down." Zain said, when he felt Sasha struggling with her snickers to touch the ground. He got down from the bike first, and then he grabbed Sasha's waist in an attempt to help her down, but their eyes met in the process and their breaths mingled. The look in Sasha's beautiful eyes brought Zain under hypnosis as he stood unmovable, just staring at the girl. "Um, please help me down." Sasha whispered as she took her eyes off Zain, glancing around to see some of the students staring at them and gossiping. Zain snapped out and proceeded to help her down from th
