The Launch

Sammi’s POV

I linger in the same spot for what feels like an eternity, my thoughts swirling around me. Eventually, with a deep breath, I force myself to move. My feet carry me back to Grayson’s room, my mind still heavy with the events of the day. I search for my phone, finally spotting my bag on the side table. Grabbing it, I notice several unread messages from Zade.

Your room is done!

The message makes me pause. I hadn’t even realized they’d finished it. Stepping into the hallway, I see the door that once led to the bathroom next to my room is completely gone. How had I not noticed they closed it off?

Curiosity piqued, I walk into my newly refurbished bedroom. Everything is uncovered, like a present waiting to be unwrapped. I sift through my closet for a dress and some shoes, then head to the shower, washing away the day. My mind drifts back to Grayson, and a small smile tugs at my lips. I’m eager to see him later, but there’s a growing knot of uncertainty in my stomach. My brothers
