Chapter 80: Death in the valley

The ride wasn't as smooth as Anne had reckoned it would be, not when a strange man kept glancing her way. That gave her the creeps. But thankfully, her mind wandered back to her father. Her heart bleeds for the pain he might be going through.

As they trotted past a little inn, the carriage suddenly came to a halt, causing her to haul from her position unto the man before her. And he quickly held her tight with his hands to steady her.

That was embarrassing.

"I'm sorry, Young Miss. I discovered the inn quite late, and I thought he should stay here tonight. Any further from here signifies he's coming with us,"

Anne had completely forgotten she had to drop the man somewhere. "Yeah right, I almost forgot,"

The coachman gave a small bag of coins to the man, he knew it would be more than enough for a week's stay at the inn.

"Wait," The man blurted before the carriage could move. He glanced at Anne and asked. "What's your name,"

"Anne," She replied right away.

"I'm Dominus, thanks." After he
