Jennifer's gaze finally softened. Her mind was a mess, and she couldn't even bring herself to look Maxwell in the eye. In the end, she muttered, "Thank you."

Maxwell sighed. "Go to sleep. Think of it as granting Cassidy and Caleb their wish to sleep with both their parents. After all, you'll be taking them away tomorrow. So, can you grant me this one wish as well?"
