Caleb hummed. "So, our dad is still alive and Mommy found him. Otherwise, why would she have a sample from him?"

Cassidy's mouth dropped. "We have a dad? But Mommy said he went to another world!"

Caleb sighed at how naive Cassidy was and shook his head. "She must have been lying to us!"

Cassidy quickly grabbed the paternity test report. "Then let's go ask Mommy and Mr. Lowe. They'll tell us the truth!"

"No!" Caleb quickly stopped her and placed the report back where he found it. He flicked her forehead and whispered, "Are you stupid? There has to be a reason Mommy's been hiding this from us. Let's not say anything for now. I'll figure out why Mommy and Daddy aren't together. If Daddy isn't as good to Mommy as Mr. Lowe, then we don't need him!"

Cassidy turned serious. She was silent for a long time before finally nodding. "Agreed!"

Just then, the bedroom door opened. Caleb and Cassidy both jumped in surprise.
