Jennifer would wake up early every day to prepare breakfast for Maxwell. She felt a sense of accomplishment seeing her culinary skills improve and the meals she made.

Just as Jennifer was about to take breakfast to Maxwell, Rachel stopped her, along with Jasper.

The sight of Rachel made Jennifer uneasy. Rachel, accompanied by Jasper, spoke coldly, "You seem to have a lot of free time, Dr. Susan. I heard you don't have any shifts. Yet here you are taking care of someone else's husband."

Jennifer caught on and frowned. "You misunderstood. Mr. Lance saved my life. I only agreed to his request as a token of appreciation. He asked me to take care of him and not inform his family, including you. Perhaps he didn't want you to worry."

Her honest explanation only fueled Rachel's anger. To Rachel, this felt like a blatant challenge.

Rachel suppressed her jealousy and hatred, forcing a smile. "What do you mean? Are you saying that Maxwell doesn't need me and our son? That he only needs you?"
