Hugo said disgustedly, "You're a spineless man. The moment she opened her mouth, you folded. It's so dangerous for her to be alone inside there."

Lucian replied, "If I didn't compromise, you would turn on me and say that I don't dote on her, I'm irresponsible, and a failure of a husband. Once again, you would try to set her up with other eligible young men."

Hugo was silent for a while before he retorted, "I preferred you when you were quiet. Perhaps that would make it easier for me to accept you."

In the room, Calista half-squatted and met Julia's eyes. She knew that Julia had mistaken her for Joan.
