CHAPTER 8

The hug broke. Zella no longer said a word other than bowing her head and walking away from Kenneth, who was still in his secret room. Zella held her breath until she reached the exit from Kenneth's library - only then could she exhale.

"Today is twice as hard as yesterday." Zella thought to herself; she walked back with her body straightened. As if nothing had happened, Zella continued her day working like a regular maid.

"Zella, where have you been?"

Zella stopped her footsteps when she saw Ruby, the butler. She lowered her head slightly before answering Ruby's question.

"I just came from the bathroom, Miss; how may I help you?"

"Bathroom? You cleaned the bathroom," Ruby said, looking suspiciously at her new maid, which was very strange - since Ruby often saw Zella missing all the time.

"Yeah, Miss. I was cleaning young Master Kenneth's bathtub." Zella didn't know what else to explain, as there was no excuse now.
