The transplant

After a long wait, the doctor appeared in the room.

"How is my daughter, doctor?" Guillermo asked, with an anguished expression, while Valeria held his hand in support.

—Mr. Martinez, I regret to inform you that the news I bring is not encouraging.

—What do you mean by that, doctor? Please speak. How is my daughter?

—Laura has not responded to the treatment as we had hoped. In recent weeks, her health has worsened considerably. The last thing we have left is to perform a bone marrow transplant as soon as possible, it is the only chance we have to save her life.

Both Valeria and Guillermo were shocked; Laura's situation was deteriorating with each passing minute.
