I panicked and squatted in front of her. “Kristen, open your eyes. Kristen, wake up…” I called her out patting her cheeks but she was not opening her eyes nor was giving any response.
I reached out for the water bottle on my bag and poured some water on my hand, and then I splashed it on her face. “KRISTEN.”
Finally, she opened her eyes wide and stared at me for a while before asking, “Where am I? Who are you?”
“Thank god, Kristen, you are alright,” I mumbled, feeling revealed, and pulled her in my arms.
“Who are you?” suddenly she shoved me away and added, “Do I know you miss?”
I was dumbfounded hearing her. I really couldn’t believe what she just said. I got speechless for a second thinking she might have lost her memory.
But suddenly she started laughing out loud. “God, Prisha, don’t you ever make that face again you look damn funny…”
I got up in annoyance. “Like really.” I strolled towards the balcony in anger.
“Where do you think you are going, young lady?” Kristen walked ahead and stood on the door blocking my way.
“And here starts the drama of drama queen, Kristen…” I rolled my eyes.
“Leave my way, Kristen. I am not going to talk with you ever again,” I state, trying to walk past her.
She held her chest and said, “God, that hurts you stabbed me right on my heart, Prisha. How can you be so cruel? I have a feeling that you are not my beastie anymore…”
I rolled my eyes and paced back to my bed. She followed me there as well and sitting beside me started to apologize, “Okay fine, fine, I am sorry my angry bird…”
I glanced at her with my wide eyes. “Sorry for what?” I shrugged.
“Sorry for…” she scratched her head like she had forgotten something.
I rolled my eyes and averted my gaze away from her feeling irritated with her act.
“Um… I think I lost my memory just now by hitting my head. Could you please help me out why you are angry with me so that I can apologize to you?” she poked my arms.
“Whatever…” I retrieved my cell phone from a nearby table.
“Come on, Prisha, don’t do this to me. You have the world’s super cool mom and you get angry with your best friend just because she told her about your crush?”
With my eyes fixed on my phone I mumbled, “seems like someone has got back her memory.”
“Prisha…” She snatched my phone away and added, “don’t be rude, please. Your mom does nothing to you even if you have a boyfriend. She is not strict like my mom, you know that, right?”
“I know give me my phone back.” I tried to reach my phone.
“Tell me one thing, Prisha, why do you think I like your company and prefer to be your bestie?” Suddenly she sounded serious.
“I don’t know why?” I folded my arms, fixing my eyes on her.
“God, that hurts you don’t even know why I am your best friend?” She held her chest. I took the chance and snatched my phone from her hand.
I began to scroll through my phone. Suddenly the room dropped into total silence. I glanced at Kristen through my side eyes and saw her sitting, lowering her head, playing with her finger. I knew she would start her drama again with her favorite trick. She knows me very well that I couldn’t stand the silence of my talkative beastie.
So I kept my phone aside and wrapped my hands around her shoulder. “Tell me, my drama queen, why do you like my company?”
“Leave it.” She looked away struggling to free herself from my grip.
“I am sorry.” I apologized, catching my ears.
“For what?”
“For whatever is making you sad,” I said, pouting my lips.
“Do you mean it?” she asked, folding her arms.
“Yes, with all my heart,” I said, taking her hands on mine.
“Okay fine,” she cheered up in no time and this is the best thing I like about her.
No matter how mad she is with me once, I apologize to her with my heart she forgives me in a second. She is the girl with the cleanest and kind heart. I just love my beastie.
“So now will you tell me why you like my company?” I asked.
“It’s because you belong to the most beautiful family who treats me as their own. And you know what I sometimes envy you for having such a lovely family, which I lack in my life. So don’t get annoyed just because of things I told to mom. She didn’t even yell at you so there is nothing to get mad at your beastie,” she explained.
Actually, she was right. Her family was very strict and she didn’t have any freedom as I do. Her parents and mine were good family friends, and that was the only reason why she could come over to me anytime she liked. Or else, she was not allowed to go anywhere unless it was with me and also until and unless my parents convinced her parents.
“I know but I didn’t want her to know that, Kristen. Privacy what I call,” I said looking away from her.
“Okay fine from now onwards I will not tell such things to, mom, okay?”
“Promise?” I lifted my pinky finger. She hooked her pinky finger with mine. “I promise.”
“Oh! I love you…” I hugged her tight and she giggled like a baby. “And you don’t have to be that mad at your parents, whatever they do is just for your sake you know that, right?” I tried to convince her.
“Yeah, I know but they don’t give me any time for me neither I am free to voice my thoughts out. They just know how to control my life,” she said in an upset tone.
“And that is why Prisha, me, your bestie is in your life. Whenever they don’t give me the time I will be here for you. Why do you have to feel that bad? My parents are also your parents, aren’t they?” I started my emotional blackmailing with a sinister smile.
“Yes, yes they are. Don’t go further with your emotional blackmailing,” she said, rolling her eyes.
“Will you please decrease your pace? Why the hell are you walking like you are going to miss a train? We are already in school, remember?” Kirsten roared at me running behind me.She had no idea I was so desperate to see those green eyes. So I just smiled and kept on marching without coming to a halt.“Prisha…” All of a sudden I heard Aster calling me only then I was forced to stop.“God, finally!” Kristen sighed heavily.“Good morning,” I greeted soon after turning to him.
“You need to know something…” she announced.“Okay….” I tilted my head.“Look I am so sorry I am about to burst your fantasy bubble which you created just thinking he smiled at you…” she blurted, being dead serious.I rolled my eyes. “Oh! Come on, don’t start, you clearly saw him smiling.”“Yes, he did smile but it was not for you,” she claimed. Her reply quickened my heart and made me gulp hard.
“That was my glass,” Aster’s answer shocked me and I grew more nervous. With my trembling hand, I kept the glass back on the table in a hesitant manner. But I ended up knocking another glass and water spilled all over my pants.Hastily I got on my feet. “I… I am sorry…” I muttered before running towards the washroom. As I was about to reach the washroom, lowering my head I bumped into someone. I lifted my head to apologize but words stuck on my throat seeing my crush in front of me.“I…” I was trying to say something
As soon as I entered my room, I threw my bag aside and flopped on my bed. Closing my eyes I tried to relax. But my mind was running wild which was making me restless. When I was not able to stop thinking of the things that happened at the school, I pulled myself up.I inhaled and exhaled deeply. “Okay, I need to stop this. I cannot go insane just because my crush has someone else and my bestie is going far from me. I still have a life to live. Let’s start with a warm bath.”I got on my feet and marched to the washroom. I stayed in the bathtub for a while and stepped out of the washroom in pajamas. I was drying my hair when suddenly I heard my cell phone ringing.I grabbed my bag and fetched my cell phone from it. I had full intention of answering the
“What happened, mom?” I got alarmed. She walked to my side and gripped my chin. Making me raise my face and glance at her, she questioned, “what happened to your eyes, Prisha? Why are your eyelids swollen?”“What?” I immediately got up and ran towards the washroom mirror.“Is everything alright, honey?”Mom’s sudden voice from behind flinched me. “Ah! Mom, everything is fine. Don’t think too much. It is just that I slept late last night because I had to work on a project.”
“Ahhh!” I screamed out in panic and closed my eyes. Suddenly I felt a strong force pulling my arms and in second strong arms wrapped around my waist. Slowly, opening my eyes I caught the sight of Aster’s handsome face very close. My heart leaped as my eyes got locked in his blue almond eyes. With every warm breath of him falling on my face, chills were sent down my spine. My sight had nothing except for him. A sudden urge of wanting the time to stop arose inside me which was kind of strange. I had a crush on my classmate, but why was there a strange feeling being close to Aster, it was hard to comprehend. I was so lost in him that, when Kristen called out, “Prisha, are you alright?”
“I… I just feel too shy,” she replied, lowering her head. Her cheeks were already flushed red.I passed a gaze at Kristen. “Seems like I missed so many things yesterday,” she mumbled.“Indeed!” I mumbled. “Let’s go then. Why are you hesitating?” I questioned Jessica.“I… I just feel too shy,” she replied, lowering her head. Her cheeks were already flushed red.“Shyness i
“I…”“Prisha....”“Wow! Krist, you got the perfect timing.” My heart was at ease seeing Kristen coming towards us.“Prisha, you didn’t answer my question,” Aster asked again, sounding desperate.“Um! I am sorry, Aster. Kristen and I got a plan after school,” I refused but deep down I was not feeling good at all but still, I did that.“Are we going somewhere?” with a face beaming K
“Prisha!” Mom's sudden call dragged me back to where I was lying and I couldn’t help getting more panicked. The door to my room was flung wide open and I was numb on the bed, watching her breaking in.“What is wrong, love? Why were you screaming?” she inquired and I hastily darted at Aster, who was above me.But to my surprise, there was no sign of him. ‘Where did he go?’ I mused, pulling myself up and looking around.“Honey, I am talking to you.” Mom moved closer to me.“I…” gulping hard, I tried to find a possible reason to tell her.Getting more alert, she began to move around. “Why are you not saying anything? Tell me what it is?”“There… There was a cockroach,” I stammered, scratching the corner of my forehead.“HONEY!” She rolled her eyes, probably in disappointment.Wrapping my hand around her, I mumbled, “I am sorry to scare you, mom. You know how scared I am of cockroaches.”Shaking her head right to left, she rumbled, “And you scare the hell out of me.”“I am sorry. Now you
After spending the whole afternoon laughing and chattering, Kristen and Tarry left, taking all the charm of my room along with them. The group studies which we were intended to do were lost between our fun but none of us cared about it.When I was left all alone in my room, I leaned on my hands and surveyed my room. Then suddenly I caught sight of the paper bag placed on my nightstand. Reaching out for it, I peeked inside the bag before a big smile appeared on my face.I must admit that Aster was reflecting on his mistake without any miss by taking full care of me. As promised, he had sent me the medicine along with a bar of chocolate.Giving damn care about the medicine, I shoved my hand inside the bag and grabbed the chocolate which was already flooding my mouth with saliva. Then tossing the bag aside, I ripped the packet. Feeling bliss about taking each bite, I kept on eating the chocolate as if there was no promise tomorrow.‘I am sorry,
“Krist! What is taking you so long?” I grumbled, staring at the washroom door. “Just a second,” the reply came from behind the door. “I wonder what you are doing there. You were the type of person who would never delay,” I complained after having to wait for so long, but all I got was a long silence. Another couple of minutes passed by with no sign of Kristen, which pissed me off. Fed up, I got on my feet before grabbing my bag, and preparing to leave. I shouted out loud, “Krist, I am off. Come when you are done,” and without hearing her out, I made my way out. Overcoming the slight pain in my ankle, I made it through the front door and successfully reached the gate. But as soon as I got to the road, I was greeted by Tarry standing before his gate. “Hey! Prisha!” he called out, waving at me. “Hey!” I replied, wondering where he might be heading with his bag. “Where is Kristen?” he asked, glancing at her house. “She is at her house,” I replied and bit my lips. Making his way t
Early in the morning, when the lights penetrated through the window pane and fell on my face, I awoke from my deep sleep. With zero knowledge of where I was, I squinted my eyes. But caring less and loving my sleep more, I shut back my eyes, trying to hop back to my dream dimension, but suddenly my voice echoed inside my head, “I don’t want you to leave, Aster. Please stay!”With a smile on my face, I flipped to the other side but my hand suddenly fell on somebody, sleeping next to me. Sanity breaks in right away, making me aware of everything. The last memory I had was watching the stars with my head resting on Aster’s shoulder. And I didn’t find that good news.‘Did… Did I end up in his bed?’ a voice asked, which added more to my panic attack.Scared to open my eyes and see him next to me, I gulped hard and checked if I was still dressed. Thankfully, I was able to feel my clothes.‘That means I just cuddled with myself,’ my heart was at ease for a second. The next second, it picked u
“Wait a second, don’t tell me you are kidnapping me for taking Newt’s name!” My heart pounded along with the chills crawling on my skin as I panicked. “Ptf!” he snickered and added, “You think I would do that for such a small thing.” “I can’t say, right? You are the same person who dumped me just for seeing me with my uncle,” I didn’t leave a chance to spare him. Clearing his throat, he then spoke out in a grave, serious tone, “I just want to make a proper apology.” “By kidnapping me?” I raised my brows at him, even though his gaze was pulled away from me. “Are you even serious?” “I am not kidnapping you, Prisha. I am just taking you somewhere, we can talk without any hindrance,” he explained, which was not enough for me. “You can stop the car and we can talk here,” I offered. With no any further words, he kept on driving and this pissed me off like hell. Trying not to lose my temper, I took a deep breath before trying to speak in peace. “Aster, I am requesting you again. Pleas
The sun was already close to diving into its nest when Aster and I stepped out of the building. Being late was the least thing I had expected, so I was at the complete stage of panic. Thanks to Aster and Riddle, who assisted me to arrange the books, or else I would end up staying at the library. Riddle left soon after they had placed the last book on the shelves. No bye, no see you, he just left without any words. Which was probably due to the rage he held against Aster for leaving without giving him a valid reason. Even though Aster saved my reputation of being bad in front of him, I felt bad for him and his friend. Tearing their friendship apart was the last thing I would ever want, but the circumstances evolving around them were making me appear like a villain. Limping, I was able to get out of the building, but when it came to the stairs, panic oozed inside me. While I was wondering how I was going to walk down, suddenly, Aster picked me up in his arms. Nervously, I grumbled,
“Ahh!” screaming my lungs out, I shut my eyes tight.Helplessly, I waited for my body to land on the floor and prepared myself to hear my bones cracking. But even after time passed, nothing happened as I had thought. Instead, I sensed the surroundings falling into silence.Wondering if I had already reached heaven, slowly I opened my eyes. Seeing an unexpected person looking down at me, my mind went blank.‘What… What just happened? Did I really die?’ I mused.‘If yes, then why am I seeing Aster?’As my eyes widened, I muttered underneath my breath, ‘Please, don’t tell me he is the Angel of Death.’When one of the books fell knocking on his head, his scrunched face made it clear that he was no Angel or anything. Also, it made me realise that I was still in the world of mortals. The biggest news was I was rescued by Aster and I was in his arms as if I owned it. Our eye
“Krist!” Coming to a halt, I took a deep breath, before turning my heels around, and facing Kristen and Tarry, who were following me to the library. Caressing her arms, I tried convincing her, “Trust me, I will be fine. It is just a matter of one hour.” Taking my hand, she spoke out in a concerned tone, “This is the first time you are facing detention without me and I do not like it. So, please let me stay.” “Krist, no, they wouldn’t allow you. Besides, you have absolutely no fault, so I wouldn’t let you suffer,” I said, putting extra effort into persuasion. “You too have no fault. So, why are you…” “Krist!” I interrupted. “You should leave.” “But…” “If you are really feeling bad for me, then I have a job for you.” Giving me an alarmed look, she asked, “What is it?” “I want you to look out for Aster and find out if he is really leaving.” “GOD!” Rolling her eyes, she rumbled, “Are you even serious? Because of him, you ended up here and you are still caring about him? Duh! Pris
With a heavy heart, I headed to my classroom. The first thing I did after reaching my desk was to take a glance at Aster’s class, but there was no sign of him. Sighing deeply, I tossed my bag on the table and plonked on my chair, not wanting anyone to come and see me. I was not in the mood for socialising with anyone. But Newt appeared before me out of nowhere with a smile which used to make my heart pound and butterflies linger inside my belly. I found out that his smile had lost its magic as it had no effect on me. ‘Was it because I was too stressed regarding Aster?’ ‘Or was it because I had learned my lesson of not falling into guys who already have a girlfriend?’ Whatever it is, I was happy with it as I didn’t have to carry panic alongside stress. “Hey!” Forcing a smile, I replied, “Hey!” “You were looking awesome yesterday. Really, I was not able to recognize you…” Getting the same compliments over and over from different people was making me sick, but controlling my e
