Henry's POV.
Saturdays were for practice and gym. Coach wasn't giving us any breathing space to have fun this year as every free time was occupied with training for the opening game next weekend.
I dropped the dumbbell and took a deep breath as I heard laughter from behind me. I and the team were currently in the school gym doing exercise and warming up before practice.
"Yo, that Emy girl was hot." One of the players, Jason said while running on the treadmill.
"She's hot but evil, trust me. She made practice hell for me last time," Colson said, he was the youngest of us all and most times people didn't take him as a serious player because he wore big glasses and looked like a nerd for most times.
But unknown to them he was one of our best players. Coach didn't care much for how you looked but if you could play. That was what mattered to him the most.
Honestly, every single player was special in their own way and con
Henry's POV.I dropped the dumbbell and it fell on my floor narrowly missing my feet as I stared up at George like he had grown a second head."Why her? You don't even like brunettes, you prefer blondes so why are you going after her?" I asked him and he shrugged before stepping closer to me."I want to try something new," He said but I knew that was all bullshit.I didn't like Tina like I did Eleanor but I didn't want Eleanor getting angry with me for not trying to protect her friend from something as silly as what George was suggesting."There are also brown haired girls. Leave her alone.""Wooo woo! Hugging all the girls to yourself, aren't you Henry?" Ray cut in laughing. "You want to fuck Eleanor and her best friend too?""The king is back!" Fitch cheered, coming to slap my back as he took my hand and raised it in the air."Guys, the Henry we know is back!" He cheered and the others followed
Chapter 41.Eleanor's POV.I laid in bed unmoving as I stared at the fan rolling above me unable to sleep. It was just dawn and I had retired to my room unable to stay in the sitting room as Annie. I didn't want to be around her. After excusing myself I stayed in my room.It annoyed me that I really didn't have any other hobbies apart from reading and I suddenly didn't want to read right now. I increased the music playing in my ears and I turned, clinging the panda closer to my body.My mind wandered to the night at the park when Ryder had placed the jacket on my body and the way he looked at me and then back at Henry. There was obviously bad blood between them and it was only a matter before I got caught in it and as much as I needed Henry to accomplish what it was I wanted, I still didn't want to be in the center of their fight.Another part of me wondered what could have transpired between them, it wasn't like they attended the same
Eleanor's POV."What about your parents?" I asked Henry as I came to sit on the bed beside him. He stiffened for a moment before he closed his eyes for a second. I watched him quietly, his hair covered half of his forehead enhancing his blue eyes in the soft glow of the room.Henry was silent for a few seconds like he was contemplating telling me about his parents and I waited patiently for him to feel comfortable around me."My father's busy. He goes on business trips and doesn't really have time to come home only during major holidays," He said as he opened those blue eyes and for a second, I felt time stop. This was one of the first times I could read his emotions. Usually, he blocked every emotion from his face leaving only his playful smirk or mischief.I didn't know whether to feel happy that he was showing his true emotions around me or if I should
Eleanor's POV.I closed the door behind me as my face turned red and I flushed in embarrassment.I didn't know why I was suddenly acting shy around Henry but I knew just a few minutes ago I was trembling on the inside. There was something about the way he relaxed on my bed and looked at me with those sparkling blue eyes. I could tell he was tired and I sighed before making my way downstairs to the kitchen. We had pizza for dinner and while my mother was the worst cook in the country, it was better off having take outs for dinner.I avoided switching on the lights so as not to disturb anyone who could be downstairs. I reached the kitchen and pulled out the leftover pizza before throwing it in the microwave to heat it up.As I relaxed against the fridge I saw someone appear beside me, my heart stopped fo
Henry's POV.I was already falling asleep as Eleanor closed the door behind her and as the door slammed shut, I was immediately slammed into another nightmare of my past.It was like it was going in a sequence at which it had happened and I was starting to think my subconscious had a mind of its own because even as I tried to block the thoughts away it came back to haunt me in my dreams where I was most vulnerable to my mind. And as it always started it was night time, I remember leaving the lonely and dark house and walking around. I was hungry and hadn't eaten anything since school lunch and I didn't want to stay at home, it would only make me think of food.Walking around that night, there was a cold air that hit my skin and I shivered as I walked closer to the direction where there was a bright street light shining on a football court. It was smaller than the average one we had in school because it was the
Eleanor's POV.I dropped the pizza silently on the bedside table and the drink as I drew closer to Henry who was already fast asleep on my bed.He definitely looked different from the bad playboy he was, right now he looked more vulnerable than usual, no heavy expression guarding his emotions, he was peaceful. His hair fell past his eyes and I sat beside him and reached for the bang of hair covering his left eye. It was soft under my touch and I couldn't help but smile when he shivered.I pulled back the hair with a tip of my finger and his face enhanced under the soft glow of my bedside lamp. Henry was handsome no doubt, with those blue eyes that were closed right now, sharp jawline that could cut through the thickest diamond and high cheekbones. His lips were turned in a straight line missing the usual smirk he wore.I've never seen him look so peaceful before, and there was something so soft about the way he
Henry's POV.I woke up first. It was weird when I first opened my eyes. The sun was shining outside and seeping past the window blinds falling on my face and warming my skin.Secondly, I felt a thick material over my body, it was a huge duvet that covered my torso to my feet. It was obvious I was taller than it and a small smile came on my face as I finally sat up.It was weird that I woke up this way, it didn't feel like the way I did where I woke up with shock or fear or like I hadn't gotten enough sleep.I just woke up with no feelings and while it wasn't totally peaceful or anything, it still felt better than other days.I didn't know why but I remembered I had a dream of my past once more and I was thankful for my subconscious for not showing me the ones of the dark gloomy days.I blinked and adju
Henry's POV.I shook my head, dispersing all thoughts about Eleanor as I headed to my motorcycle that was parked just at Eleanor's window.I ignored the helmet as I usually did and climbed the bike, started the ignition as I raced back home.I passed by a coffee shop and decided to get some coffee before I went home so I parked at the entrance before heading in. A cold wave from the AC and I shivered."Shit, I forgot my jersey at Eleanor's," I whispered as I walked to the counter to get my order."You seem to spend a lot of time with her lately," A voice sounded from behind me and I recognized it from the first word that escaped his lips.I said nothing to that as my blood heated under my skin and I clenched my fist. Why did he have to be here right now? He just had to ruin the day that had started well for the fi
