He pushed the papers back into their drawers, hoping to clear his desk before he left this workplace; he needed the air of the outside world anyway.

He felt Luca's eyes on him and faced the black orbs, frowning, "What are you looking at?"

Luca shrugged, "Nothing much."

"good. Didn't want to hear anyway."

"You're getting Gretta worried being in this place twenty-four seven," Luca said it anyway, "and you know how she gets when she's worried."

Derinem pushed the last pen into the drawer, shutting it, "she's worried I haven't told her how Damon fares."

"You're overthinking it," Luca sat up straight, knowing he had brought up a sensitive topic; he could see the pain spreading on Derinem's face.

"I know, right," he smiled, taking his fingers through his hair, grabbing the glass again, and heading to the booze; he raised his refilled cup to Luca, "sometimes I know I hide from her; what if she reads on my face what happened to her granddaughter?"

Omg... I still feel this is a trap, set in motion by Anna!! Abby would have called her, not sent a letter!! For being a journalist, Maya doesn't have the common sense that God gave her!!

Why are most of the characters so dumb? Your enemy from day one that promised to deal with you suddenly came back and shade few crocodile tears and invite you out and ya suddenly running out without suspicion to go hangout with them? Maya is so dumb! So very dumb! Her dumbness is pissing me off!

She sat back against the leather seat, feeling freedom's air coming through the window, a little smile on her face. It would be a few hours of laughter before she returned to the manor. She missed Abby anyway; even a minute would be something with her. She only hoped it would be at her place, so they stayed up telling each other dry jokes and boring life stories. She smiled again, looking forward at the cab driver, who hadn't said anything since she entered. In the mood for small talk, she asked, "Where are we going too?"He didn't answer for seconds, maybe annoyed that she wasn't letting him do his job peacefully. "She says it's a surprise."Sorry, ma'am, I don't want to lose my pay."She nodded, feeling thrilled already. Abby always did that anyway, knowing how much she couldn't stand being anxious, and she was constantly teased about it by Abby. She looked down at her full yellow skirt and white top, simply styled so Maestro didn't suspect her too much, but she noticed the discomfor

The chatterers weren't stopping, even though most were jotting notes on their pads, but it seemed they still had many other questions to ask. And the good Don was all ready to answer whatever it was.She held his arms, whispering, trying to hold back tears, "Maestro, no, please."He turned to look at her, his palms on the side of her head. "I hope you had a nice time with Abby, Maya.."She shook her head, her voice heavy. "I swear it's not what you think."He turned to the press, the smile on his face, and he walked away, pulling her along with him, not rough enough for the press to see, just enough for her to feel his rage. She hurried to keep pace with him, but the heels weren't helping much."Smile!" He orderedAnd she did just that, except it was so raggedy that she, too, didn't trust how her face looked."Maestro, listen to me; it's not what you think; I swear, I was set up.""I noticed. "What do you mean she ran away?" Damon pressed the phone to his ear, his eyes blazing but the sound of his voice as calm as ever."Capo, she cut herself, and I...""You had just one job; take her to the manor.""Capo I...""Find her, George; you have twenty-four hours," he ended the call, glaring at the wall and finally up to the painting sitting pretty yet wild. And she just kept testing him.***********Her fingers twitched at the same time she felt her lashes flutter. What appeared to be stranger was the ceiling, which felt closer to her face than usual. Her lids snapped fully open, and her eyes met the far end of the small room; seeing no blue-colored walls and a thoroughly white, shining bulb, she frowned. The following morning, the yell of men packing loads and decking trucks with tent tools had her standing up from the bed, pushing the net away, and coming out of it.She was limping. She just noticed that her clothes were still bloody, her eye was blood red, and her hair was scattered from the night before. She was quite a sight, and the men couldn't help but take a second glance at her.Ignoring them, she walked around the campsite, her eyes falling on the ashes of the bonfire from last night. Most of the tents were brought down, and only a few remained. She hurriedly ran to avoid two men coming towards her with a metal pole in hand.Maya gripped the sides of the skirt, watching the struggle and bustle. She couldn't wait to be in the truck, telling all of this bye.She looked to her side, seeing the little boy she had seen last night with a little past middle-aged man overseeing the packing. The boy held his hand, playing around him, not even intimidated by his rock-hard face. She di

She sat on the car seat, gazing out the window as the road became familiar. The morning was suddenly cold and uncomfortable, and her stomach was churning and burning at the thought that she was returning to him.Sure was the worst way to get your hopes smashed to pieces; she shut her eyes so she couldn't feel the car swerving back to the manor. But it only made her feel the burn on her cheeks the more, and it felt sore against the car that she had to sit up, forcing her neck to stay still. This was the shortest journey she had ever been on, even though the quickest route was taken. When Maya saw the gate of the manor, she retreated into her emotionless self. It was the only part that could survive him.He was on the patio waiting, and when he saw the car drive by, he only stood by, watching the car park to the side of the compound.George came down, buttoned his suit just fine, and came over to open the door for her. "Smile a little, Madame, you see as you walk to your funeral," Lina said, wholly frustrated with Maya, who refused to smile after her makeup was done, staring straight at the mirror and ignoring the beauty she reflected. All she could see was him, inhaling him wherever she went, his aura enveloping her like nature's air. It had been three days since she was dragged back to the manor—three days of preparations and constant questions, most of which she didn't answer, leaving the planners perplexed about how to carry out Don's order of "Whatever Donna says." Three days of him staying out and she staying in, barely eating anything and staring out the window into space, her thoughts racing like a freight train. Good thing he was never around these days, even when Maria had come over-excited at the prospect of a wedding with the news that Gretta and Derinem had sent their apologies for not being able to come. Was she relieved? Yes, she was; it was a lot of solaces. She couldn't imagine

The pressure tightened around my neck, making me gasp and swallow, my breaths getting shallow. "You're the first thing I think of when I wake up and the last when I close my eyes.""Let me go," I cried, afraid of his whispers; it was getting furious and psychotic. "Please let me go.""Can't you see?!" He held the nape of my neck, turning me around to face him, "Can't you see it's fucking all about you?"The anger that welled up in his eyes had all my sounds stuck in my throat; he was a demon, that's it: a psychopath and everything in between. And I had been forcefully drawn to his world."Now," he hovered above me, "do you want it easy or hard? I'm all up for it, Maya. I'm all up for you."Nothing about him was going to be e

Your sister," She nodded in desperation, searching his eyes so he would believe her. Her petite frame was under his glare. Before he turned, she thought she saw guilt on his face. Looking up at his stiff back and down to his clenched fist, she could see he was fighting the urge to believe her. "You were there; she wasn't; you saw it; she didn't; quit the lies, Maya. Gianna blinked, facing the immaculate white walls and the beeping that sounded far away. Unable to feel her body, she decided she was in heaven.Only heaven could feel this painless; only heaven could feel this safe, well, heaven and Zayne's presence, but since he wasn't in sight, maybe she was in heaven. She waited for the angels to take her into paradise, wipe the tears from her eyes, and tell her she would be okay, that the earth was never her place anyway, that she'd fallen. The image of Axel holding the sledgehammer with a sick smile while watching her scream in agony had tears filling her eyes. She was never meant for this brutal and sinful world anyway. She wondered if Zayne would find her dead body. She wanted to cry out for him, tell him she was sorry she had gone off track, and cry that she didn't deserve him, but it was too late; she was dead.Or was she..."I had a feeling you'd open those eyes today."
