Ruth pouted. “Who would ask someone out for lunch on a weekend? It’s usually for dinner!”

“Me! I like to ask people out for both lunch and dinner!”

Ruth grudgingly let Pearl win the argument.

When Pearl first arrived, she was terrified when she saw Abel. However, after a while, she realized that he was just quietly reading messages on his tablet, so she let herself relax.

“Why do you look so listless? Didn’t you sleep last night? Or were you out having an affair?”

“Pfft!” Ruth spat out the water she was sipping. She had been wary of spraying it at Abel, so she turned around and sprayed it at Pearl instead.

Pearl’s face scrunched up. Her mind went blank for a few seconds before she reacted. “Ruth! Ew!”

Ruth’s lips twitched awkwardly. She quickly grabbed a tissue and wiped her face. “Sorry, can you learn to talk with a filter?”

Pearl’s face had turned bright red with anger for getting sprayed at. However, at Ruth’s reminder, she turned to look at Abel’s cold face and shrank back
