Ruth was puzzled. “When?”

Abel did not bother to help her recall that day. He just stared into her eyes and emphasized it once again. The reason he did not tell her his identity was because he was worried that she would be angry with him.

Ruth was in disbelief. “But you said you suspected that I had ulterior motives.”

“That was just the beginning. You really weren’t listening.”

Ruth spluttered.

“Although taking care of my wife is a matter of course, if you think you’ll owe me favors for it, I can’t force you to take it,” Abel indifferently said. He stretched his slender fingers to the bank card Ruth was holding.

Ruth twisted her wrist and pulled her hand away from his. “You can’t take back what you gave me.”

She put the bank card into the pocket of the loungewear and muttered unnaturally, “Besides, this is the second time you gave it to me. It would be disrespectful of me if I didn’t take it.”
