Chapter 11

Cecilia’s face turned ashen pale. She was no longer as arrogant as before. Instead, all that she felt was panic.

Ruth was not as easily toyed with as rumors said she was.

Devon had thought Ruth was a sheep, but she was really a wolf.

Nathan had spoken quite loudly.

His words were not meant only for Cecilia, but everyone in the company.

The employees of Lockton Entertainment were filled with fear that day.

In just a few hours, half of the people were fired.

Weeping and enraged cursing filled the corridor. Most of them came from the higher-ups who usually acted like they were superior to everyone.

At that moment, they threw their images to the wind and acted like unreasonable, middle-aged ladies until they were dragged out by the security guards.

When Apollo arrived at the company, this was what he saw.

He removed his sunglasses as his jaw fell open. He looked just like a country bumpkin who had arrived at the city for the first time.

He thought that since Ruth had no connections and resources, she would definitely be mistreated by the old coots in Lockton Entertainment. After all, she was appointed to take over the place, but was sent here alone.

However, what he saw was the old coots kneeling on the floor and begging for mercy.

There was only one thought in Apollo’s mind after seeing that. “How exciting!”

He brought out his phone and quickly recorded a video.

He sent it to his brother along with a voice message. “Abel, your wife is amazing! Her swift and aggressive actions are almost on par with yours! I’m amazed!”

Abel was in the president’s office in Blakewell Corporation when he received the two messages. He picked up his phone and frowned slightly when he saw the video and heard the message.

By the looks of it, Lockton Entertainment was filled with parasites and members of the Lockton family’s branch families. Their faces were red in anger and they wanted to charge in to argue with Ruth, but the security guards had them all blocked outside.

When Kallan heard the voice message, he notified Abel about what the people thought. “This is the first day your wife went to work, and she changed the entire top management. Everyone in the industry is shocked and is saying that Lockton Entertainment is done for.”

After learning about who Abel’s new wife was, he had also been paying attention to Lockton Entertainment.

Ruth did not have a good reputation, and her act of firing everyone indiscriminately would end up making people say that she was unreasonable and did whatever she pleased.

Abel put down his phone and asked calmly, “What do you think about this?”

Kallan said nothing for a moment. “You can’t set up a new regime without overthrowing the old one. I’m impressed that your wife could do such a thing, but…”

“But what?”

“She has no foundation. It’ll be difficult for her to gain a footing in the domestic entertainment scene. Even if Mr. Apollo went over to help her, it’ll still be trying to put out a fire with only a glass of water.”

The core of Lockton Entertainment was rotten. If she wanted to gain her footing, she had to build from the start. “She’ll only have an easier time if someone powerful supports her.”

When he said this, Kallan snuck a peak at Abel’s expression.

Abel sank into a pensive silence while toying with his pen. After a few seconds, he smiled. “Keep an eye on the Goldwell family and make sure they don’t cause trouble. We’ll let her handle everything else on her own.”

She said that she wanted to seize everything back with her own two hands.

He looked forward to it.

The remaining people in Lockton Entertainment did not dare to stand against Ruth, but they did not support her actions either.

They were in need of manpower at the moment. They were fine with her firing everyone but not Devon, yet she just had to fire Devon, who was in charge of liaising with their artists! That was the same as destroying the company’s source of income.

“Miss Ruth, Mr. Devon did make a mistake today, but he can’t leave. If we lose him, Eislyn Vernon will leave as well!”

Ruth flipped through the papers in her hand, and her eyes landed on Eislyn’s information. “She’s just a C-list actress, who’s not even popular, yet you’re calling her the pillar of the company? You guys sure have low standards.”

Her disdainful words were her only answer toward the storm of disagreements from the top management.

She sounded like an arrogant brat. It made some of the top management nearly faint out of anger.

The face of the one who had spoken turned red. “Have you spent any time trying to understand the entertainment industry before you came back? If I remember correctly, you studied how to be a movie director while you were abroad. It had nothing to do with company management, did it?”

Eislyn was a new actress the company was pouring most of its resources into making famous. She was also their face.

After all the effort the past year, she was rising rapidly in the entertainment industry, so how could Ruth just reject her by saying that she was an unknown C-list actress?

Did she have any idea how to manage a company?

Ruth put down the papers and stared at the top-level manager. “I don’t have the experience, but I know how to cut losses before it’s too late. Casting aside a C-list actress for the stability of the company is something worthwhile in my books.”

“How could the company have any sort of stability without any artists? Do you really think you’re that great? If you look down on C-list artists, do you have better artists around?”

The top-level manager was so furious that he could not be bothered to reason with her anymore. He could not even be bothered to maintain any sort of surface-level respect.

The others shared the same thoughts and stared at Ruth.

She knew that since she had just assumed this position, it would be difficult for her to make everyone accept her as their leader if she did not show that she was a skilled leader.

Of course, since she was already here, she had naturally done her work.

“I actually do.”

“......”

The meeting room fell silent in an instant.

Ruth cast a glance at the time before she looked outside. Then, Nathan walked in. “Miss Ruth, a Mr. Blakewell would like to see you. Should I bring him in?”

She immediately thought of the marriage certificate she scrutinized this morning, and Ruth’s eyelids twitched. She blurted out, “Which Blakewell?”

Nathan answered respectfully, “Apollo Blakewell, an A-list actor. It’s said that all of the shows he acts in become popular. He received the best male actor award due to a period romance drama last year and was nominated as the youngest A-list actor.”

Everyone in the room was stunned.

Ruth really did her work! She got Apollo Blakewell!

It was no wonder why she looked down on Eislyn!

But Ruth was baffled.

Wasn’t he Grand Empire’s actor?

Why was he here to see her?
