Chapter 118

Abel noticed that Ruth was acting really strangely over the next few days.

In a great show of consideration, she helped him fix his tie in the morning. At night, she was very attentive and brought coffee to his study. She even told him not to work overnight and rest.

What was even stranger was that she did not sleep in on the weekend. When Abel woke up, he found an empty spot beside him.

Once he washed up and went downstairs, he heard clanging and banging sounds from the kitchen, along with Mrs. Greenwell’s worried voice.

“Madam, let me handle that!”

“Madam, careful! Don’t let it burn you!”

“Madam, don’t touch the knife! Put it away!”

When he got closer, he saw a thin and delicate figure trying to “help” in the kitchen. But, really, she was moving around in a fluster.

Ruth wore casual, light-colored clothes and a pink apron. Her long hair was tied up in a bun, but some strands still fell out of it.
