WHAT ARE YOU DOING?

STEPHANIE POV

My eyes snapped open from the darkness, and I heavily gasped for breath, feeling as though I had been struggling for air for some time.

Glancing around, I realised I was still inside the car, illuminated only by the dim dome light that flickered weakly, threatening to fade at any moment. Turning to my left, I saw my mom lying on the passenger seat beside me, blood trickling from a wound on her head. It appeared she must have struck her head hard against the front seat.

"Oh my God," I whimpered silently before looking ahead to the driver's seat. There, I saw my stepfather's body slumped over the steering wheel, his face covered in blood, most of it dripping from his hand onto the wheel itself, staining it crimson.

I wanted to scream, but I pressed my left hand firmly against my lips to hold myself back from doing so. The car reeked of blood, causing me to gag in disgust. I have a strong hatred for anything bloody, especially if it comes from a human being.
