I ALREADY KNOW

AUTHOR'S POV:

"Anyone there?" Logan asked again as he kept approaching where Stephanie was hidden.

Stephanie drew a cross in the air and crossed her hands against her chest. This was it; she was going to get exposed, or rather, she should expose herself since she'd already been caught. She made up her mind to step out of her hiding spot, but a voice stopped her.

"Logan..." Stephanie's mom, Jessica, called out to her stepfather.

Logan stopped walking and stayed silent, waiting to hear a sound to confirm if anyone was hiding in the corner because he was certain he had heard the sound of a female heel clacking on the floor.

The door opened, and Jessica stepped out of the changing room, calling out his name. "Logan, honey, I need you," she said, which distracted Logan and made him turn back in her direction.

"Jessica, what's wrong?" His voice vibrated through the four corners of the hallway, making Stephanie feel a chill all over her body. Logan strolled toward Jessica, and Stephanie sighed in relief upon hearing his retreating steps. She was glad she hadn't been caught.

"Do you think I look like a mess?" Jessica asked, gesturing to her face and then down to her dress. Clarissa had told her she ruined her looks.

Logan gave her a soft frown as he observed her for a few seconds. "No, you don't, darling," he responded, making Jessica blush.

Meanwhile, Stephanie, watching them from behind, could only feel disgusted by the scene in front of her. "Ugh!" she said, making a disgusted face. She couldn't believe her mother still had this babyish side to her.

"Isn't she too old for this?" Stephanie asked herself.

"I thought after that, um, you know, the sex we had..." Jessica spoke sheepishly, her face turning a blush red, while Logan half-smiled.

"You know what?" Logan leaned closer to Jessica and grasped her face, making her look up at him. "That was only round one, honey. How about we go for round two so you won't be able to walk comfortably to the altar?" Logan teased, leaning in for a kiss, only to get distracted.

"Ehmm..." Clarissa faked a cough, making them notice her presence at the door.

Logan immediately released Jessica from his grasp while she blushed and hid her face from them both.

"I just wanted to remind you two lovebirds that I'm still here, and secondly, your wedding is about to begin in five minutes. Sir, you need to go to the altar to wait for your bride," Clarissa explained. "And now, if you may excuse me, my work here is done, and I have to take my leave before it gets any weirder," she said, dismissing herself immediately.

"See you at the church, honey," Logan said, giving Jessica a peck at the side of her face before he left. She giggled at his comment, unable to stay serious.

Jessica smiled, watching him depart from the hall before she entered the changing room.

Stephenie stepped out of her hidden spot just as the hallway cleared and there was no sight of anyone. She took off her heels and began to make her way out of the hall. She had seen enough for today.

Stephanie tiptoed towards the entrance of the changing room and peeped her head through the side of the door, checking if anyone was inside who could easily spot her.

Looking around the room, she caught her mother staring at the long-standing mirror, checking herself out, and trying to fix her messy hair for the wedding. She took it as a sign to walk out unnoticed. Stephanie began to tiptoe out, passing through the door until she was stopped by her mother's voice.

"I can see you through the mirror, Stephanie, and I know you have been trying to avoid me because of what happened," Jessica said, making Stephanie's heart skip a beat. There was no way she had been caught by her mother. "Why have you been standing at the door, and where are you going?" she questioned.

Stephanie's heart skipped a beat as she stepped back and stood at the entrance, facing her mother, who turned to look at her.

"How long have you been standing there, spying on me?" Jessica asked.

Stephanie chuckled nervously, her heart beating rapidly. She could recall the moment she had watched them having sex and when Logan was attempting to be intimate with her in the hallway, which left her feeling angry and disgusted in some way. Could it be that she was jealous because Logan had been romantic with her mother? That couldn't be it. She nervously smiled and gulped slightly. "I don't know.”

"You don't have to tell me Stephanie; I already know," Jessica said with a half-smile as she turned back to the mirror.

Stephanie gulped it in, her heart racing so fast that she could barely breathe.
