Brooklyn jumped out of her skin when she saw a shadow sleeping on the couch.
She quickly flicked on the light to her office, illuminating the shadow passed out on the small sofa in front of her desk.
“Lacy? What are you doing here?”
He lied to her. She gave him another shot and he had still been lying to her the whole time. The sharp sting of betrayal was followed by a gut-wrenching feeling of despair. What else was he lying about? “Brooke!” Lacy hollered right as Brooklyn unlocked her car.
Soft plush lips finally connected with his again. He could feel the hesitation in Brooklyn’s movements, as if she was testing him. Landon was shocked at first from the velvety feel of her lips moving over his. Unlike the other times he’d kissed her, Brooklyn was gentle, almost pleading with her kiss. He felt the confusion, the desire, and the hesitation in her kiss, almost as if she was pleading with him not to break her.
“Landon, slow down. I can’t see anything,” Brooklyn begged, her hand grasping the door handle and the console in tight grips. Landon pulled her tense fingers from the middle console and threaded his fingers through hers. “Relax, I can see. I have this under control.” Landon turned the car, heading down another road stretched out along the rainy path. More large drops pelted the windshield, obscuring the view of the road in front of him.
Brooklyn finished with the last dish and placed it on the drying rack. Warmth raced down her shoulders as Landon placed his heavy hands on her. She still couldn’t believe this man was real. He may be the most confusing and frustrating man she has ever encountered, but there was something about him that she was quickly becoming addicted to.
Brooklyn was woken by gentle, feather-like kisses being placed on her shoulder. She groaned her sleepiness as another kiss was left on the blade of her bare shoulder, shooting heat down her back at the slight action. “Good morning,” Landon murmured as he placed another gentle kiss on her sensitive skin. Brooklyn rolled onto her back and cracked her eyes open, only to be greeted my darkness.
Brooklyn’s head snapped towards her window when she saw movement in front of it. She watched as Landon walked by her office. His hair was glistening with sweat and his amber eyes looked worn out from installing the new machines. It has been five long days since he whisked her off to the cabin. It was driving her crazy not seeing him or being able to touch him when he was so close. It was both thrilling and worrisome
Landon shifted his car into park and took a long whiff of the familiar forest air. The smell of pine needles and dirt was oddly relaxing, reminding Landon of his childhood. He opened his door wide and took in the sight of his humble home, enjoying the familiarity. A sharp sting in his heart reminded him of the piece of himself he left behind in Washington. He couldn’t wait to show this to Brooklyn.
Brooklyn rolled over and checked her phone after hearing it go off for what felt like the hundredth time. The bright screen showed her Lacy’s text. ‘When are you going to be up? We have dresses to try on!’ She looked at the clock, surprised to see it was only five thirty in the morning. Brooklyn was surprised Lacy was even awake at this hour.

Landon watched carefully as his mother stood from the couch, her hands clasped in front of her and a hesitant smile on her lips. “Hey, Landon.” He could hardly believe she was standing in his living room. Shortly after Landon’s mate had “died” ten years ago, his mother left.
Landon growled at the vibration on his nightstand before turning around and pressing ignore on his phone again. He wrapped his arm back around his mate and pressed a single kiss to the back of her neck, loving the feel of her in his arms. “Landon,” Brooklyn muttered in a sleepy voice. Landon placed
Landon felt the wind flow through his matted fur and the crisp mountain air sail around his body as his paws thundered into the ground. Anger fueled him to run faster, to catch his prey. In one swift movement, L
Water consistently slapped against Brooklyn’s feet before pulling the sand she was standing on back into the deep ocean. The salt water was soothing while mixed with the crashing water, making it easy to get lost in its serenity.Brooklyn allowed the serene atmosphere to soothe her. She couldn’t remember much about anything right now and wasn’t even sure where she was, but she found herself succumbing to the calmness of the ocean in front of her.
Landon felt panic grip him as Brooklyn became less responsive. He watched as the bullet slowly started draining her life. Blood bubbled up on her lips as her eyelids started fluttering and Landon felt helpless as he watched, terrified of losing her to another gun. “No, she always ruins everything! She needs to pay for the damage she caused to my family!” Landon finally pulled his
A warm feeling curled her toes at the deep rumble that came from Landon’s chest after her confession. She knew she meant the words, as unbelievable as anyone may find them, even after the short time she had known him. Landon gripped her cheeks between his large palms and brought her head closer, placing a long kiss against her forehead. “Brooklyn, I’ve loved you for ten years.” Broo
Brooklyn could hear Landon’s loud protests as she was suddenly airborne. It didn’t take more than a short moment for her body to splash into the frigid water. Brooklyn instantly gulped in a large breath and closed her eyes as she made contact with the water. Her hands and back stung from the harsh impact of the water. Salt immediately stung her eyes as she cracked them open, but she fought against the sting to take in something that could help her.
“It’s good to see you back, Hunter. How is your brother?” Landon could hardly focus from the unsure feeling rooted in him. He hadn’t heard from Brooklyn since he left. The first place he went to when he came back was her apartment, but he found it empty. Not knowing where else to go, he rushed to the warehouse. He hoped to find some sort of clue or intel of where she could be. He felt he
