/HIS POV/
It's relaxing, sitting in front of the fountain there, as the soft wind blowing past them as their company. Damon never thought he would be spending time like this with his assistant of all people. They have come a long way since they started, so it's not surprising to be sitting together. After gorging on the corn dogs, they decided to get the famous ice cream Mia has been raving about. The assistant wrapped her arms together as she stared at the afternoon sun. It's a scorching day compared to New York.
"What's left on the agenda for today?" She lazily asked, turning her head towards him.Mia was watching him expectantly as she licked at her cone. Whoever told that cone ice creams were only for kid didn't know what they were saying. Damon was trying not to stare at the way she flattened her tongue against the ice cream, but it's a bit distracting.
He cleared his throat and dropped his
"Move over; I want the aisle seat" Damon happily obliged, dragging himself over to the other seat. Even though they were the only ones in the entire jet, Mia loved to be demanding in the morning. She plumped down next to him and let out a big chunk of air."I'm so tired" She moaned. "And we've got a six-hour flight in front of us."Unwisely, they'd decided to pull an all-nighter the night before, laying on the bed and gazing at the stars in the sky. Now, ten am LA time; they hadn't had a proper lie down for sixteen hours.Mia didn't bother to get ready at all. Her hair was messy, and she was wearing a baggy grey hoodie with shorts, the most comfortable you can get for a flight. After they drove back to the hotel, she didn't have much of a choice than to pick the first outfit that looked cosy. The assistant pushed the chair to handle up and leaned into him. Damon carefully ran his finger against her loose stra
"I still can't believe you just – abandoned me," Jane grumbles now, voice a bit high.Mia tried not to roll her eyes as she treaded lightly across the plush white carpet in their break room. For a change, they decided to stay back in the office and have lunch instead of going out. That was all her idea. She had just finished her work and then thought of whipping up some sandwich for Jane and her self. After all, Mia didn't have a boss to give her orders and demand ridiculous things. That's right. Damon didn't show up to work. It was taking everything in her, not just to quit working and show up on his door. What good would that do anyway? She can't abandon her responsibilities as he did. So the assistant dropped him a mail asking about his health while also informing about his cancelled meetings."I didn't abandon you, don't make it sound so dramatic. I went away to work with my boss."
/His POV/As soon as Damon got back to his place, he had several messages waiting for him. The usual business stuff but the messages from Lily stood out the most. He couldn't ignore them. That's why he called her urgently, not caring that it was seven in the evening and she must be busy elsewhere. If she had to leave that many voice mails it must be important.Like he guessed she was busy and told him that she'd come the next morning with breakfast.Damon was jet-lagged, and he couldn't muster himself to call Mia, knowing very that his assistant was tired as well. She pointedly glared at him as they exited the aeroplane and asked him to let her rest. Last time he checked, she was the one who wanted to ride him during the journey. How was she blaming him for her fatigue? The CEO knew better than to argue, so he simply let that go and promised to see her next day in office. ***A
Mia called a cab. She couldn't drive back anymore, suddenly feeling numb all over. The assistant couldn't believe this was happening to her. And all that within a day of getting back from Los Angeles. What about all those promises Damon made to her? Did they mean nothing? Her voice modulated from tears during the call; thankfully, nobody on the other end said anything. When it arrived, she hurriedly slid into the backseat and nodded to the driver. When the car started, the assistant broke down in tears and started crying. Silent, heavy tears weighed down by the incident she noticed just ten minutes before. It was done. She let Damon go. She'd never ha
When her doorbell rang, she knew. Somehow in the middle of brushing her hair in front of the vanity mirror, Mia knew that its Damon on the other side of the door. The thought caused her to breathe deeply and freeze in her spot until the next one rang more urgent and loud. Keeping the hairbrush on the table, she rushed towards the door, her heart in her throat the entire way. Why was he here? What did he want now? There was no way Mia wanted to see him after what he did. Where was her friend when she needed her? Maybe she should have asked Jane to stay over. With hesitant breaths she opened the door and wanted absolutely nothing more than to jump into
Mia went back to Damon's place. She couldn't withstand knowing that he's upset with her. Also, the assistant missed not being with him. The last two days were agonising trying to think about the every moment she wanted to hate him. There weren't many to start with. By the end of the first day, she's exhausted and just wanted to forget about it. Hence the lunch date with Jake. He's not at his place. Her boss would never make it easy for her. Mia drove back to work, trying not to scream in the void of the car.The assistant knocked on the door very well seeing the stiletto of her boss through the tinted glass door. Damon tilted his head and motioned her to come into his office. Taking a deep breath, she pushed at the door and stepped in. The CEO was not looking pleased."Hope you had an amazing lunch date with that douche," He muttered in a low voice, once she was in earshot."What wa
Mia couldn't believe it. She froze mid-sentence, interrupting a story about her messing up with Jane's hair dye and accidentally adding violet colour. That was years ago, and they laughed about it alright more like Mia laughed while her friend could stop screaming at the mirror. It was hilarious at that time. They are all over it."That's..." The assistant trailed off as she stared at the person she admired a lot—her idol."Noah Parker," Damon supplied brightly, an amused quirk to his lips. "And his wife Melon, if I remember correctly. Let's go say hello, shall we?"Or maybe it's time for Mia to hide in the bathroom and scream instead of welcoming the guests while drunk out of one's mind. In her defence she’s happy and never thought that in a corporate party she would be able to meet Noah Parker who happened to be an A list actor. And man of her dreams. Who invited him?
/HIS POV/Mia was grinding on him. Pressing her body against him sensually. It turned him on. At least enough people were dancing in the room that they're somewhat shielded from close inspection. Marginally. Even though stupid fucking Jake seemed to be staring at Damon, but he's getting kind of used to that. Whatever. He was enjoying it, embracing it with all his heart. He let Mia tip her head back, falling on his shoulder, while his eyes drifted to seek out Jakes gaze. Deliberately, he pressed himself into the grinding. The CEO didn't want to invite him in the first place, but Mia insisted they make it right and also they were friends now.The platinum blonde guy twisted his mouth and turned away.Damon wanted to laugh, wanted to throw his hands in the air. Instead, he twirled Mia in the circle of his arms and gave her a slow, lazy grin. She grinned back, her hair clinging
/A few months later/Mia woke up with the sun rays in her eyes and her entire body feeling wrung out, sore all over. She contemplated rolling over and going back to sleep, because, her limbs ached all over. All thanks to the person sleeping next to her. Staring at the small alarm clock on her bedside, the assistant was able to conclude its noon and that she's only had a good five hours or so.She was wrapped around Damon, who was snoring peacefully into the nape of her neck.Turning over in his arms, she studied the curve of his mouth, set in a faint pout, the tiny crease between his brows that suggested he's fighting the pull of waking up. If Mia's mouth didn't taste like bitter grapes, she'd kiss him until they're both sleepy and loose with it, would get her mouth on him, slowly and languidly, all the time in the world, with neither of them having anywhere to be for the rest of the weekend.Just star
