"Well, fancy seeing you here," A voice said from behind him, and Mia...well, she's not proud of the squeal she let out whirling around. It's her boss. Her mouth screwed shut at that.
A sigh escaped her lips. It's nine in the morning, and she thought a nice brownie before work would make her smile. But no. Her boss had to ruin it. What was he doing in the bakery?
"What's wrong with you?" She snarled.
Damon had amusement written all over his face, and she alternatively wanted to drink in his attractive face and gouge his eyes out at the same time. He leaned against the wall opposite her.
"I have been trying to figure that out myself."
She rolled his eyes. "What are you doing here?"
/His POV/After the visit to his parent's house, Damon couldn't stop thinking and finally decided that he needed to ask Mia about the dinner. The CEO was still annoyed that his mother was trying to set her up with someone else. Why does he care? He shook his head at that and swiftly walked to his office. As soon as the CEO stepped in, Damons eyes automatically travelled towards Mia instead of just walking by, and he wished he hadn't seen her.His assistant was wearing this white v-neck that showed off her long arms and the dip between her chest. All he wanted was to honestly jump over the desk and litter her skin with marks. Make sure to get every inch of it and let others know who she belonged to. The thought caused him to suppress a groan."Miss Grace," H
Mia woke up in a cold sweat, body heaving as she gasped out into the still room. Her fingers were trembling as they clutched onto the sheets desperately. It was such a stupid dream. She thought, squeezing her eyes shut, breathing in shakily and then out. In and out. In and out. When her breath evened out, she slowly laid on the other side of her body. Her head throbbed excruciatingly: another migraine. Mia slid out of bed and onto the floor, the hardwood cool beneath her bare feet. Rubbing her temples, she slumped in place, body swaying from dizziness. Her stomach twisted uncomfortably as she took a quick peek at the bedside clock. It's still five in the morning, the dim light from sunrise shining in from the open window and casting a low glow over her tangled sheets. She had an hour before getting out of bed, so Mia laid back, closing her eyes and thinking abo
"Good morning, sir," Mia said sweetly, biting on her tongue. If anything she wanted to yell at him at the way he handled the conversation the previous day. What was she expecting from someone like him? Of course, he was not going to tell his mother about their dirty secret. That shouldn't have bothered her in the least. After that heated conversation, she left his office, not ready to take more of him. No pun intended. Damon didn't need to see the rage she felt and the tears forming in her eyes. It's not like he promised her or anything. They didn't even talk about it, so he had no obligation to do anything about the date.Maybe it will be a nice change for her, after all. Mrs Rossi had an excellent taste judging her husband, of course. But also Mrs Rossi loved Damon, so it's going to be difficult to tell. Whatever. Mia can do it. Her friends have been bugging her for the same thing, so it's a win-win situation.Damon ra
/HIS POV/"Damon!" A loud voice echoed around the living hall and before he knew someone was pulling him in a hug. The CEO cringed at the sudden gestured, not used to the touch and took a step back. He noticed Mia's amused smile."Wow, you're tall! Its been so long since we met!" The guy let out an obnoxious laugher, his perfect white teeth on display.Jake. His mother's friends son. His dirty blonde hair was slicked back, few loose strands falling on his forehead. He had a pointed nose and stormy grey eyes, almost dark under the lighting in the living room. Some would say he's handsome.Damon cleared his throat. "Yeah...Too long""How are you?"Jake shrugged. "I'm doing great man! Have my own little business. Things are going very well. Not like you, of course. I saw your photo in several magazines, so I think it is also
Mia gasped as the knock reverberated through the walls, the sharp sound echoing in her ears. In horror, she stared at Damon whose lips twitched but other than that he was calm. Did sex make men that stupid? She pushed him away and stumbled for the door when the sound intensified."Yeah?" She whispered, her voice thick. "Give me a minute."The realisation sunk in. Whoever was on the other side of the door could easily see her so dishevelled and so out of it and figure out. It wouldn't take a rocket genius. But still, she tried to sell it. Ducking away, Mia rushed to the washbasin and splashed cold water on her face, averting her eyes from the mirror in an effort to avoid seeing her red, swollen lips and glassy eyes along with that shameless glow etched across her face. Mia screwed her eyes closed, splashing cold water over her sweaty skin, exhaling roughly. She was aware of his heavy stare on her.For a second, Mia just s
Mia's head was hurting. She wanted to drown herself in alcohol, a whole bottle all to herself, and she also wanted her boss. All to herself.Since she's tired of holding her body upright in the couch, the assistant slid out of the chair and stretched out on the bed, the soft mattress underneath instantly making her eyes roll back. Her eyes were also so very tired, dropping as she kept staring at the door. That's how Jane found her, alone and small curled up in her bed.For a moment, her best friend just stared at her, the distant light from inside casting only one half of her face in brightness. Then she dropped down on the bed beside Mia, crossing her legs. She's quiet, waiting, and when the silence got too much, her best friend poked her. "Have you been laying in your bed all morning?"Why does that matter?"Maybe""I'll take that as a yes then""Last night was horrib
When Mia got a call from her mother that she's in New York, her body sagged in relief. She couldn't have asked for her arrival at a better time. They managed to settle for a quick lunch as her mother was only staying for a day. After lunch, she had to meet another friend of hers.Precisely at one in the afternoon, Mia abruptly stood in the restaurant's doorway, staring wordlessly at the person in front of her. The sight sent a jolt of sadness through her. Her boss was sitting with a woman, not just any woman, the same one he was papped with. Before she knew it, her eyes stung. The assistant tried to hold onto the sob, threatening to break down any time. Her body hunched over as she gripped the doorframe to prevent from tipping over completely. Tremors wracked her fragile limbs, lungs seeming to shrink with every fluttery breath. This wasn't the first time Damon made her want to scream her lungs out. From time to time, she gave him that kind of
/HIS POV/Damon stared at his phone, impatience crawling in his chest. His assistant was supposed to be with him half an hour ago. They were invited to one of the parties in the exclusive club. When he called Mia ten minutes ago, she told him that she's on the way."Damon Rossi?" A loud voice shrieked behind him. He didn't have to turn around to know who that belonged to. A few seconds later, Lily stood in front of him with a massive grin on her face.He raised his brow. "What are you doing here?""Why? Not happy to see me?" His friend teased him, wriggling her brows."Don't start now. I'm serious."Lily plopped on the chair opposite him, crossing her legs together. Her face gleamed under the bright disco balls and the neon lights. The CEO couldn't help but notice her leaning on the bar while attention focused on him. "Brian owns this bar.""Your boyfrie
/A few months later/Mia woke up with the sun rays in her eyes and her entire body feeling wrung out, sore all over. She contemplated rolling over and going back to sleep, because, her limbs ached all over. All thanks to the person sleeping next to her. Staring at the small alarm clock on her bedside, the assistant was able to conclude its noon and that she's only had a good five hours or so.She was wrapped around Damon, who was snoring peacefully into the nape of her neck.Turning over in his arms, she studied the curve of his mouth, set in a faint pout, the tiny crease between his brows that suggested he's fighting the pull of waking up. If Mia's mouth didn't taste like bitter grapes, she'd kiss him until they're both sleepy and loose with it, would get her mouth on him, slowly and languidly, all the time in the world, with neither of them having anywhere to be for the rest of the weekend.Just star
/HIS POV/Mia was grinding on him. Pressing her body against him sensually. It turned him on. At least enough people were dancing in the room that they're somewhat shielded from close inspection. Marginally. Even though stupid fucking Jake seemed to be staring at Damon, but he's getting kind of used to that. Whatever. He was enjoying it, embracing it with all his heart. He let Mia tip her head back, falling on his shoulder, while his eyes drifted to seek out Jakes gaze. Deliberately, he pressed himself into the grinding. The CEO didn't want to invite him in the first place, but Mia insisted they make it right and also they were friends now.The platinum blonde guy twisted his mouth and turned away.Damon wanted to laugh, wanted to throw his hands in the air. Instead, he twirled Mia in the circle of his arms and gave her a slow, lazy grin. She grinned back, her hair clinging
Mia couldn't believe it. She froze mid-sentence, interrupting a story about her messing up with Jane's hair dye and accidentally adding violet colour. That was years ago, and they laughed about it alright more like Mia laughed while her friend could stop screaming at the mirror. It was hilarious at that time. They are all over it."That's..." The assistant trailed off as she stared at the person she admired a lot—her idol."Noah Parker," Damon supplied brightly, an amused quirk to his lips. "And his wife Melon, if I remember correctly. Let's go say hello, shall we?"Or maybe it's time for Mia to hide in the bathroom and scream instead of welcoming the guests while drunk out of one's mind. In her defence she’s happy and never thought that in a corporate party she would be able to meet Noah Parker who happened to be an A list actor. And man of her dreams. Who invited him?
Mia went back to Damon's place. She couldn't withstand knowing that he's upset with her. Also, the assistant missed not being with him. The last two days were agonising trying to think about the every moment she wanted to hate him. There weren't many to start with. By the end of the first day, she's exhausted and just wanted to forget about it. Hence the lunch date with Jake. He's not at his place. Her boss would never make it easy for her. Mia drove back to work, trying not to scream in the void of the car.The assistant knocked on the door very well seeing the stiletto of her boss through the tinted glass door. Damon tilted his head and motioned her to come into his office. Taking a deep breath, she pushed at the door and stepped in. The CEO was not looking pleased."Hope you had an amazing lunch date with that douche," He muttered in a low voice, once she was in earshot."What wa
When her doorbell rang, she knew. Somehow in the middle of brushing her hair in front of the vanity mirror, Mia knew that its Damon on the other side of the door. The thought caused her to breathe deeply and freeze in her spot until the next one rang more urgent and loud. Keeping the hairbrush on the table, she rushed towards the door, her heart in her throat the entire way. Why was he here? What did he want now? There was no way Mia wanted to see him after what he did. Where was her friend when she needed her? Maybe she should have asked Jane to stay over. With hesitant breaths she opened the door and wanted absolutely nothing more than to jump into
Mia called a cab. She couldn't drive back anymore, suddenly feeling numb all over. The assistant couldn't believe this was happening to her. And all that within a day of getting back from Los Angeles. What about all those promises Damon made to her? Did they mean nothing? Her voice modulated from tears during the call; thankfully, nobody on the other end said anything. When it arrived, she hurriedly slid into the backseat and nodded to the driver. When the car started, the assistant broke down in tears and started crying. Silent, heavy tears weighed down by the incident she noticed just ten minutes before. It was done. She let Damon go. She'd never ha
/His POV/As soon as Damon got back to his place, he had several messages waiting for him. The usual business stuff but the messages from Lily stood out the most. He couldn't ignore them. That's why he called her urgently, not caring that it was seven in the evening and she must be busy elsewhere. If she had to leave that many voice mails it must be important.Like he guessed she was busy and told him that she'd come the next morning with breakfast.Damon was jet-lagged, and he couldn't muster himself to call Mia, knowing very that his assistant was tired as well. She pointedly glared at him as they exited the aeroplane and asked him to let her rest. Last time he checked, she was the one who wanted to ride him during the journey. How was she blaming him for her fatigue? The CEO knew better than to argue, so he simply let that go and promised to see her next day in office. ***A
"I still can't believe you just – abandoned me," Jane grumbles now, voice a bit high.Mia tried not to roll her eyes as she treaded lightly across the plush white carpet in their break room. For a change, they decided to stay back in the office and have lunch instead of going out. That was all her idea. She had just finished her work and then thought of whipping up some sandwich for Jane and her self. After all, Mia didn't have a boss to give her orders and demand ridiculous things. That's right. Damon didn't show up to work. It was taking everything in her, not just to quit working and show up on his door. What good would that do anyway? She can't abandon her responsibilities as he did. So the assistant dropped him a mail asking about his health while also informing about his cancelled meetings."I didn't abandon you, don't make it sound so dramatic. I went away to work with my boss."
"Move over; I want the aisle seat" Damon happily obliged, dragging himself over to the other seat. Even though they were the only ones in the entire jet, Mia loved to be demanding in the morning. She plumped down next to him and let out a big chunk of air."I'm so tired" She moaned. "And we've got a six-hour flight in front of us."Unwisely, they'd decided to pull an all-nighter the night before, laying on the bed and gazing at the stars in the sky. Now, ten am LA time; they hadn't had a proper lie down for sixteen hours.Mia didn't bother to get ready at all. Her hair was messy, and she was wearing a baggy grey hoodie with shorts, the most comfortable you can get for a flight. After they drove back to the hotel, she didn't have much of a choice than to pick the first outfit that looked cosy. The assistant pushed the chair to handle up and leaned into him. Damon carefully ran his finger against her loose stra
