Dean entered the quiet healing centre. Around him, the space was clean and spacious. It was there to provide the pack with healthcare, not the entire community. In the past, it was open to the Jasper Springs Pack when the previous alphas ran the packs. But the noticeable sounds of a human hospital weren’t there and there were more wards because of a shifter’s injuries. It might not be possible to shift from their fur to their skin without incurring further damage. So they divided most wards into small wards where the wolves and humans got what they needed. There were a few cages. He couldn’t deny that. But that was for the safety of everyone if the wolf became too aggressive. Right now his mind wasn’t on the differences. He needed to know what was happening to Kiera right now. Why her run go so badly? How did Elder Evans find her, and why did he clash with her? He appeared afraid of her. Dean thought he would avoid her.

He felt like a fool when it came to him. Someone might a

Oli got the text from Dean as he stood by the restrained elder. He hated to see the old wolf like this. Who wouldn’t? But trauma did bad things to every creature. His son wasn’t a young wolf, either. His son left a mate and six pups that were all in at least high school. The old wolf couldn’t get past his son’s death to help raise his grand pups. His son’s mate had her hands full with her little army of pups and her own grief. The pack helped where it was welcome. But he’d pushed aside any help. His moods and opinions changed noticeably, and the council struggled to work with him. But in his wolf form, if he awoke, he couldn’t shift to his skin to speak without risking further injury. Sure, shifters healed faster, but they needed magic for a miracle like some movies portrayed. It always got on his nerves by some weak woman telling a werewolf to just shift and heal. Annoying any mate would swear at their mate to shift, not pleading. They just didn’t have a clue about s

  • Wolves at the Lycan's Door   Reflections

As the hours wracked up, Dean sat with Kiera and yet no one yet to his knowledge even checked on her. He was sure rumours would fly. He still needed to speak with those who were in charge of watching Elder EvansThe staff came to him at one point to ask if they could move her to a large more secure room so he would feel comfortable and nap when he wished close to her.A healing centre like this had many rooms created for mated pairs, because some would go without sleep or food if they weren’t with their mate. It became standard practice over the years. A healer can only trip so many times over a wolf sleeping on the floor beside their mate’s bed. Or climbing in the bed with them. The staff made quick work of a new room where he, too, could get some rest. There were so many reasons from safety to lifestyle that they’d found answers for. Not long ago at a dinner a healer told the table that when she toured a human hospital, they showed her an innovative space for spouses and pa

“Enough Trisha. You and I have both left multiple messages. Dean will get back to us as soon as he can.” James now marvelled at how Dean stayed sane all these years with Trisha’s persistence. She’d been notified by Mary that Kiera had been attacked and that story was very long winded. He’d had to listen as she had her phone on speaker throughout their dinner. “Maybe we should go over there?” “Trisha no. I can’t get through to anyone to get permission to go into their territory.” “That’s fine. They know me. I’ll go.” “No. You’re no longer a member of their pack and as you’re alpha, I don’t give you permission to do that. That’s not safe. Look at your position now. You’re the Luna of my pack, not theirs. There’s a lot that we need to figure out before this is anything more than a tense stand off or intermission in a war.” “At least, one of you can see reason and the need to stop this stupidity.” “I didn’t start it. “James, this is silly. What if some emergency happens? Dean calls? I mean, Kiera’s been hurt badly enough that she’s in the healing centre.” “Enough. There’s nothing we can do about that right now. Nothing you do at any time will change anything.” “Then let’s go back and finish dinner.” “Desert’s changed and I’m looking at her.” He grabbed the bottom of her shirt and pulled it off over her head. Her bra covered breasts gave a satisfying bounce as came free from the shirt. “Magnificent look at the impressive display. The Moon Goddess definitely blessed me when she made you.” He stopped undressing Trisha for a moment to caress gently and tweak her breasts. James avidly watched his hands as they shaped her breasts in their delicate lacy cages. He knew instantly this was the correct thing to do; she was moaning softly unconsciously from this simple touch. “Take your pants off, Trisha, now.” James sat in the nearby gaming chair with her

Before her pussy relaxed from her orgasm. He grabbed her hips and pulled her into the chair with him. He threw her thighs over the arm of the chair and she faced him. He aligned the head of his cock with her core and pulled her down. Now she was impaled on his cock in a tight grasp. James couldn’t help it. His eyes rolled back for a moment in pure unadulterated pleasure. Then, with a nipple in his mouth, he worked his cock in and out of her. The need she spoke of still burned within him and it grew with each hot thrust. This was heaven for him. It didn’t take long for that pesky knot to form, because James could feel her tightening around him. His thrusts keep her from relaxing. Now she all but bounced on his cock and the sexy sounds had him reaching for the ball gag. With a little difficulty, he got it fastened on her so that he could keep those sexy sounds for himself. His pack wouldn’t make a mockery of the sounds he loved to hear from her, and she wouldn’t be emb

  • Wolves at the Lycan's Door   Kiera Awakes

Dean dozed in a chair rather than the bed the healing centre provided. Just because that’s where he was when his adrenaline bottomed out. Some time just before dawn he awoke from a doze to movement from where Kiera lay. It took him a moment to realize that she was the one making the sound. He’d panicked at the thought that a caregiver or healer had entered. Or worse, someone who wanted to harm Kiera to get to him. But it wasn’t Kiera was moving. It felt a little surreal because he was so groggy, but when things fully registered in his brain, Dean was up close to Kiera’s ear and urgently whispering to her to keep her calm. “It’s okay. You’re safe don’t struggle it’s me Dean. You’re in the healing centre. Kiera, you’re going to be fine. Just stay with me and stay calm.” It felt odd to be talking to Kiera in her dire wolf form. He’d spent hours now studying it. She was a deadly beauty. It wasn’t that she looked sick or twisted. No, it was just her massive size that mad

Oli paced the waiting area. They’d brought Elder Evans to the Black River Hospital, and they were in surgery with him now. The fool was a right and proper mess. He didn’t envy the surgical team piecing him back together.Elder Evans clearly was the loser in this match. He and Dean both received the report from the examination of the scene, and he knew clearly now that Elder Evans could only have ended up like this because he jumped on Kiera.Oli’s job now was to push for his survival so that they could get information from him on why he’d done this and who gave him the tranquilizer he gave Kiera. For all the hesitation he had about Kiera before this, Oli found his opinion not just changing by his conscious decision but because he now saw the reality versus the rumour. He’d have to talk about it with Dean later when this all settled. She wasn’t a danger any more than any other shifter was. Yeah, she had the potential, but she didn’t have a temperament for being the monster the

“Well, I will say this for a Lycan you’re healing faster than expected. That’s good. You’re not ready to shift yet, dear. I’m sorry I wouldn’t recommend it. Your forearm is still broken, and we don’t want to complicate the injury just yet. So, we’ll come in every twelve hours or so make sure everything is going well and hopefully when it knits together some more, we might try the shift back into the flesh if you feel ready. I’ll make sure that someone arranges breakfast for both of you this morning. Now can I help any other way? Questions?” Dean shook his head and Kiera tucked her head under a pillow that lay on the bed near her. “Not right now, thank you. As long as there’s no complications,I’m happy.” “Yes, well, I’d say in three to five days she should be able to leave. Your forearm was pretty bad because you broke both bones, not just one. That’s why I believe it’s prudent to not rush anything. So I’ll write up a report for the next healer as I’m afraid

  • Wolves at the Lycan's Door   Epilogue

    - One Year Later -Kiera stood watching a group of lone wolves returning to a pack. Many were raised for generations outside of pack life. But things change, situations change. These wolves are literally come in out of the cold, unprotected woods and their pack was opening their arms to them.It divided humans as always on what they thought about supernatural creatures. If nothing else, there were very few humans that didn’t care one way or the other. These wolves were coming in from other places in the world where the humans made it impossible for them to live. Now they were picking up everything they can and leaving everything they knew for a chance at a future.Their lycan members were now well established members, and the pack looked to them as the public faces of the pack. It wasn’t unusual to see one or more on the news as they work as a security team for various celebrities and figures of note. The pack now ran a small but lucrative security firm, because several of the lycans

Hours. They only had hours to get ready. With much of the pack working together to get things done and sooth disgruntled feelings, they pulled off a makeshift welcome for the thirty lost souls coming to stay with them. Dean struggled to get through thirty files on the different lycan. It was as if each one came with a warning label of their own. No two had the same difficulty. Some were complete loners who they’d have to work with to bring back into the pack and life within it. They bonded others, who had that’s why they had so many lycan arriving. They wanted bonded pairs together so that a community could grow from the families that would form. It meant that they’d not planned correctly, but that could be adjusted again. Dean agreed with Oli and Jerome that the Ruling Council screwed up sending the lycan to them. The order was off and there wasn’t enough time given to prepare for their arrival. Also, they’d agreed to a few new lycan members, not t

Their mating went on after the cleanup and Kiera’s world was addressed. Dean ended up marked as well at some point by Kiera and, finally exhausted, they fell asleep hours later. With the sun coming up and the mating over, Kiera felt a disturbing calm between them. Like this took away the jittery need to find a stable footing. Kiera could swear she could feel Dean’s mood as he slept. He’d exhausted her so much that she’d not been bothered by any of her usual nightmares. Kiera felt delicious and loose-limbed. She couldn’t remember the last time she felt like this. If she were a cat, she’d be purring at this point. “Morning. Luna Jonas.” Dean stated with a proud grin like he’d accomplished something last night. Kiera wouldn’t tell him, but he had accomplished something. The jerk got his way. He had the pack and her permanently. It wasn’t fair. She wasn’t ready for this, but she didn’t know what she was ready for. She wasn’t sure if she should be unhapp

In the bathroom, Dean had the shower running, and he was making sure they had everything they need within easy reach. He remembered to heat the towels and lay out the mat. Whoever built this bathroom put down super smooth tiles on the floor and it was like skating on ice when you stepped out if you weren’t careful. The mat had rubber grips to prevent that while drying your feet on it. Dean heard Kiera sigh as she settled under the spray of their large shower. A standard wolf could bath in this shower while in their fur. Now Dean wondered if he needed to remodel the bathroom to fit their new size. Kiera was smaller in her dire wolf form, and he didn’t think she’d fit in here. That was something for another day to think about. Right now, he had an eyeful of his mate and a promise to keep. There was no question for him if she was his mate. Just seeing her like this made everything right. Dean followed her into the shower and cornered her under

  • Wolves at the Lycan's Door   No Stopping Now

It took another week before Dean managed to shift into his alternative forms. He’d noticed a lot of changes in him. He needed to get larger clothing because his entire body went up to two clothing sizes while he lay in bed. That surprised him quite a bit. Finally, he could hold Kiera and kiss her without feeling like he’d been hit by a steamroller. Once they were home, Kiera wouldn’t speak of their mating and she wouldn’t set a date for the mating or acknowledgement ceremony. So he surprised Kiera with an evening to mate with her. He didn’t need an acknowledgement ceremony. His daily pain was almost nonexistent now and he want to give her what she deserved. Dean wanted Kiera to love their new form and position within the pack. So this evening they’d start with a private dinner in his apartment and then enjoy the evening with his soon-to-be mate. His mind kept wandering to what was to come. By dawn, they’d be mated, and thi

Two days later, Kiera and Trisha waited outside Dean’s room as Dr Graves examined him and looked at the latest test results. James returned to his pack to manage a few things. “So what are you doing for your mating ceremony? When will it be?” Kiera asked Trisha to try to find a different subject that didn’t revolve around Dean’s or her recent decisions. “Oh, I have him waiting until we can have both packs in the same place without there be fighting. I figure in a few years. I mean, technically, we’re mated. It’s just the ceremony of recognition of the mating that’s not been done. It seems so old-fashioned to me.” Trisha tried to brush it off. “Hon, if that were true, then you’ll be waiting forever to have the ceremony. Why don’t you just have it, and we’ll threaten to string up anyone and post signs of what they did? Like those photos of cats in their harnesses. “I shredded all the toilet paper while my owner was pooping.” Or “I pooped in m

“That bastard. Dean’s a jerk. He knew he’d do this and didn’t tell anyone that he’d do it. Kiera went there to discuss if it were possible. I know Kiera. She’d want to plan for all the worst things before trying anything. I bet he pushed her to let him do it.” “Enough Trisha. I’ll get us the earliest possible portal to there if you just let me think and listen to the portal booking system.” The mages ran the portal system and with it’s high risks of danger, they kept a stranglehold on almost all portal travel. When, where, and how long it would take are just a few of the questions James needed to answer. “Crap. I forgot to ask Kiera if she needed me to bring her anything. I don’t know if she has a change of clothes.” “Well, I’ll leave you to create a care package for Kiera and Dean. Let me get this booked.” “With four bags, James. We’re taking four bags with us. We can carry them if we have two duffle bags and two packs.” “Fine, I’

At some point, Kiera looked up at Dean. “Did you call your sister and tell her you were doing this right now?” “Nope, because you know very well what Trisha would say and I wasn’t going to listen to it, because this is between you and me.” “Goddess save me. Fine, I’ll do it. But when she’s pissed, I’m laying all the blame at your door. So you better be prepared when you see her next, because you’re going to hear about it.” Kiera couldn’t take it. She needed to talk to someone other than Dean. Trisha was the first person she thought of. Her mind did flit to April and Mary, but right now they were too busy trying to impress her to be reliable. For two who claimed they wanted to help her part-time, that changed when they understood she wasn’t dreaming that Dean wanted her as his mate and Luna. Kiera wasn’t leaning toward either of them because right now she didn’t feel she could trust them to receive the unvarnished truth. She hoped that would change.

“Are you both in agreement with this? If so, I can get you admitted Alpha Jonas, Kiera. We’d only need permission to draw your blood. If all goes well, you could be home in a day or two. Free to mate in a more relaxed and traditional manner on your own timeline.” Dr Graves looked calm and understanding. He didn’t press them further than that. “I’m game if you are Kiera.” Dean knew he was taking risks with his life. If it meant his life would finally be on track and he could see a happily ever after, he’d do it. He knew it was risky, but something in the back of his head was pushing him to do it and he wasn’t strong like Kiera, and he couldn’t resist listening to it. “Fine. I will let them take some blood. As long as I don’t need to be admitted for this. How long will it take to know whether it’s working or not?” “Once your blood is within his body it, we can test his body to see if there’s any rejection or damage to his organs. But since you
