Chapter 2

I had to take a taxi before I got to the train terminal and the only transportation to Caroline province if you don’t have a private car. It also took about an hour before I could get to the train terminal of Roseville City. I got out of the taxi, the driver helped me down my luggage and pays him before he leaves. The train station is huge before you can get in, the environment is busy, noisy road taxis and cars. I saw some walking rushing to their work and some rushing to enter the train station. 

I was walking in the crowd as I was carrying my luggage. They had to enter my things over the machine scanner to my canvas bag, my luggage, they also checked my ticket and checking my body of a female security guard guarding the door. 

“Thank you,” I said before they get me through in.

On the other side, there is a large screen TV where they show the announcement schedule of upcoming trains and departures. I saw the time I was traveling on the top list of the departing train so I had to hurry. Just minutes after arriving at the platform in the waiting area, the passenger train was parked, they checked my ticket again before I finally got inside and I immediately saw my seat near the window. I hide my things on the top shelf before I sat in the window and laid my white canvas bag in the table in front of me.

I pulled out my phone, plug the headset, switched to the music app before wearing the headset bud into my ear. I immediately heard the gentle music of an indie artist is a suit of this long trip.

I glanced at the woman who was sitting in front of me. I didn’t know I have to share my area the whole trip with her but it is fine just I wish she didn’t disturb me. There is some announcement of a female voice being heard on the intercom speaker inside the train. After the announcement, the train set off for the trip immediately, I check the time from my phone and I saw 8:45 in the morning. It took five hours to get to the province and it might be noon when I arrive there.

The trip was smooth. Sometimes I fall asleep for a few minutes and wake up too because I'm in a complicated position. I thought five hours would take six hours and a half for stopping at a few train stations that were too busy to board and drop off passengers there. It looks like it's will be afternoon when I get to Caroline and I feel like I’m hungry because I just carry candy only on the trip.

“We’re here in Caroline station of Caroline Province.” I heard the announcement from the intercom speakers.

“Finally,” I whispered in relief.

Some of the passengers of the train were standing by to pick up their belongings because they were like me need to come out from this train too. When I got my luggage I hurried out. I immediately smelled the breeze of the province that was different from the city. The breeze was cooler here, I could see the magnificent pine trees around and some flowers you could only see in their province.

I had to go through the safety and security guidelines before I could get out of the train station. I saw some passengers fetch their families or friends, some had rented a car right away, while I didn't know where to go or to ride, I looked all around, the environment had just changed somehow in this province, even with mountains and towering trees, many buildings and establishments are in there now.

The skies are dark but it's not raining maybe the climate in the province is just that. I was in a state of shock when I felt as though someone was watching over me and I looked around. It shivers through my spine.

I gulped.

“Nothings gonna happen to you here,” I whispered to myself.

I started to walk now until I reached the sidewalk when a car passed by. The window in the passenger seat is open so I could see who’s in there. I never expected to have eye contact with a strangest young man and it just accident when I look at the window. In the unexpected situation I feel this moment is in slowing me like in a movie, he had dark clean and combed hair, perfect jawline, blue eyes, small lips, and a sharp nose. We just stared at each other until their car passed as if I was hypnotizing from him.

“What was that?” I shrugged myself and let that go.

I found a taxi that I could take that I immediately rode, gave him a piece of paper with the address of the house in it, and before the trip began. We passed to the downtown, a few places in town, and before we passed the main thoroughfare to the mansion. I knew I was close because the mansion was located in an isolated area of the province where no one was passing by.

The taxi stopped at a wide, rusty, and large gate. The LeStrange family surname is attached to the gate itself. I paid for the taxi driver before I got off. I approached the gate surrounded by a few vein leaves from the garden wall before I pressed the doorbell to let someone inside know that they were guests.

           I am here now.

From a distance I can see two-story mansions made of stone and hardwood. It is still large but is surrounded by moss and a few hostile veins from the plants around it. I saw the door to the mansion open and an older woman came out, maybe it was my aunt saying that she was the caretaker of the mansion, it was their family that kept the whole area clean and tidy. 

She smiled at me and opened the gate before she let me inside.
