Julia lifted her gaze to see he was pouring another glass of wine and was surprised to see him smiling. She had never seen him smile. Her eyes shifted to the big bottle of wine on the table, and she realized it was empty. He was drunk. "You like working in my company?" Jason asked, staring at the glass in his hand. "Yes, I do and thank you for giving me that opportunity," Julia replied. "Good, I like the designs you made and so did my clients," Jason said, smiling, and Julia wondered if he was talking about how she felt about working in the company or if he was talking about the project designs. "It was good work done," Jason added. Jason was more relaxed now as he asked one question after another and Julia could not keep up as he was just changing topics with each query. He opened the car door and stepped out, pulling Julia with him. Jason emptied the glass of wine and threw the glass away, breaking it. Julia jumped at the sound of the breaking glass. Just then, the guard appear
"Well, you are right. Jason knew about the will," Mirenda said, walking towards the bed. Mrs Haward was sitting behind the dressing table cleaning her face with a cleanser. She stopped cleaning her face and turned to look at Mirenda who was sitting on the bed. "How did you find that out?" Mrs Haward asked curiously. "I spoke with Julia. She told me their first meeting was by accident, and they became secret friends and one day he asked her to marry him, and she said yes," Mirenda reported. "Just like that?" questioned Mrs Haward. "Yes, mum. It makes perfect sense why they are so distant from each other. They never dated," Mirenda added. Mrs Haward sat in silence processing the new information in addition to what she already knew. "Julia is the daughter of her husband. Basically, she is his only blood. Mirenda, James and Jason are all outsiders. Jason, by marrying Julia, has become the rightful heir to the Haward's fortune," Mrs Haward thought. "Mum?" Mirenda called but Mrs Hawa
Julia pressed her back against the door and sunk to the floor hugging her legs. In her silence, she recalled their passionate moment together; Jason grabbed her by the side. Her hand quickly went to that side of her body and she felt a burning sensation touching it. Looking at it, her skin had turned red, and it was bruised. It was a hand-print. She didn't know why, but she felt sad and tears started flowing down her face as she rested her head on her knees. Jason was out of the shower with a towel wrapped around his waist and with another, he dried his hair. He picked some fresh clothes from the closet, put them on, and stepped out of the room after dressing up. He draws the curtains, allowing in some light and fresh air. He turned, and his eyes fell on a red dress lying on the floor, along with female underwear. He frowned deeply, wondering if Julia had run out of the apartment naked. "How did she leave the apartment without her clothes?" Jason thought, heading towards the entran
The day went by with Julia and Jason spending their entire day inside their room. Later that night, while Julia was sleeping, a hand covered her mouth and a knife was placed under her chin. She opened her eyes in shock but could not see who it was as the room was dark. "Sssh, a sound from you and this knife will split your throat, do you understand?" came a husky male voice. Julia nodded, but the corners of her eyes were quickly filled with tears as she trembled in fear. "Now, you are going to get up from this bed and quietly walk with me out of this room," the man said in the same tone, and Julia nodded. Julia got up from the bed, placing her feet on the floor with a knife under her chin. She stood up, and the man had the opportunity to get behind her and, still with the knife under her chin, led her to the door. Julia's hands hang loosely on her side as she slightly opens them apart, more like in surrender. Walking past the bedside stand, Julia slowly grabbed the lamp in the dar
Another guard took a pocket knife from the table and the man's eyes widened, wondering what they were going to do to him. His eyes shifted to Jason, who had a sinister smile plastered on his face. "What are you going to do?" the man asked, sounding agitated. "Huh, I have not started anything, and you just lost your nerves," Jason sneered. Peter put a drop of what was in the container, which was still making a fizzy sound, on the ground and there was smoke. They all quickly put on a mask as the liquid produces more smoke as it burns the ground. The man started coughing because he was without a mask. They all removed their masks after a minute when the liquid was done burning. That part of the floor turned dark. "The next drop will be on your wound," Jason said. "I don't have any wound," said the man, trembling in his seat. Jason just moved his gaze to the guard holding the pocket knife and the man gulped. "Now that my terms are clearly communicated, are you ready to talk?" que
"Yes, but I want him to start coming with you to work moving forward, and learn about the company so you two can manage it together," Mrs Haward said, and Jason just stared at her. "Look, Jason, your father gave James some business to manage, but you know he is a bit clumsy. I need you to teach him to manage those businesses, so they don't collapse," Mrs Haward explained further when Jason was silent. "Mum, you know James. He doesn't like the office kind of work. I would rather suggest you allow him to follow his dreams. I have checked, and the businesses entrusted to his care are already doing well. Father, put everything in place so that, with or without any management, the business would not collapse. He can remain the CEO and pursue his dreams," Jason responded. "So, he honestly thinks my son is a failure in the business world," Mrs Haward thought and was furious, but didn't show it. "I am not asking you to educate me on James. He is your brother and all I am asking is for you
After staying home for two days, Julia was ready to return to work, and it was the same day James was also going with Jason to work after his mother, Mrs Haward, convinced him to take James to work with him. Julia was already up and ready for work. She put on a simple black dress, with two fastened buttons at the front and a zipper at the back. The style was so simple; it didn't make her the centre of attraction, but equally didn't hide her like a backdrop. She stepped out of the room and quickly went downstairs, as Jason had already left the room. Upon getting to the stairs, she surveyed the place as she descended to make sure she didn't run into any of Jason's relatives. Reaching the last stairs, she quickly made her way to the door and went out of the building. Jason saw her back as she was running towards the door, and he frowned, but he didn't stop her either. He had just come out of his study. "Good morning, sir," greeted the servant who had just entered the living room. "Good
"Relax, I'm not going to bite," James said and slipped his hand down her shoulder to her chest. Julia quickly got up from the seat, but James quickly pulled her back onto the seat, forcing her head up by holding her jaw. "Funny you want to act decent now," James said with a smirk, tilting his head to the side. He locked Julia's neck with his arms like he was going to choke her. Julia held his arms with both hands, trying to break free. With his other free hand, he went under her dress and into her bra and fondled her peaches. Julia tensed up and tried to take his hand out, but the more she tried, the harder he pressed her throat with his hand, making her cough. Tears streamed down Julia's face as she couldn't stop him from harassing her. She couldn't scream either, as she was afraid of what they would do to her. James finally removed his hand from under her dress after what felt like a forever torment for her. "You can fool Jason, not me," James said, letting go of her. "I could fee
