CHAPTER 8

“What I am about to tell you is going to sound incredible and mind blowing but it is the truth. Everything that I am saying is the truth and nothing but the truth.” Lorraine said as Sarah watched her with confusion and said,

“If you think some half cooked lie is going to get me on your side and forgive you, you better think again. Further more, you still haven’t told me why your car looked like something that had been hit by a hail storm and what was that babies cries I heard in the background earlier?” Sarah said sitting down on the couch as Lorraine ran a finger through her head and said,

“That is what I am about to tell you. Look at this.” Lorraine said as she walked towards the cage and pulled the cloth from the cage revealing the triplets as Sarah stood up shocked to the ground and said,

“This are puppies, wolves and I can prove it.” Lorraine said as Sarah rushed to the cage and opened it saying,

“Are you out of your fucking mind? These are babies, how dare you keep them inside a cage, and newborns for that matter, just some days old.” Sarah said as she pulled the babies carefully one after the other with Lorraine behind her back shaking her head in disagreement.

“You are wrong. They may look like babies, but they aren’t. I am telling you I know what I saw. I was in the woods, where I saw this wolves all dead sprawled everywhere then I saw the cubs and I rescued them and I was saved by the bushes who suddenly seemed alive and was blocking the path so that the wolves wouldn’t follow me and I was running and carrying them and…” Lorraine was rambling pacing around as Sarah looked at her in absolute horror and said,

“Can you hear yourself? Do you really think I am stupid? You were gone for 11 months!!! Was this why you left so abrupt? To give birth? They are yours right?” Sarah said trying to juggle the triplets at once so they would stop fussing.

“No, I am not lying. I am telling you the truth here, these are monsters cubs. I don’t know how they did it but they somehow managed to alter their appearance so that they would look like normal beings but I can assure you, that….”

“I still can’t believe that you are lying to me. I am your best friend and yet you are standing here spewing this lies. You didn’t kidnap these babies, did you?” She asked as Lorraine shook her head and said,

“No, I am not lying and why would you think I am a baby napper. I am telling you what happened, why won’t you believe me.”

”Because you have a twisted loose brain, that is what. You really expect me to believe you, can you hear yourself. I thought we were friends but it seemed like I was wrong…..Just then Lorraine’s hone began to ring interrupting Sarah as Lorraine dashed for her phone and saw that ut was her boyfriend calling and she declined the call.

“Who was calling?” Sarah asked as Lorraine shrugged her head and said,

“That was just my boyfriend calling. No big deal.”

“Wait a minute, you are now snubbing Noah’s call? The same Noah who had been patient and waited for you while you took your vacation for a year without thinking of inviting him, or telling him anything, who respected your wishes when you said you wanted tp think and have space, the same Noah that you cheated on while on vacation and brought back triplets, that Noah, or am I hearing wrongly now.” Sarah said heated up as Lorraine rolled her eyes and said,

“Whatever, I don’t have his time now, besides he think I am not yet back, I still have time and for the last time they are not my babies.” Lorraine said as she took them from her and dropped in a soft basket which had some towels in it and made them comfortable while Sarah said,

“I told him you were back, as I was driving here. I called him and informed him about everything that happened even with the babies that I heard in the background and he said, he hasn’t slept with you for full three months before you decided to travel, so that is not Noah’s babies, is it?  Sarah asked as Looraine took a shaky breath. She realized that Sarah was never going to believe her but she also ner expected for Sarah to betray her and call Noah behind her back.

“You did what?” Lorraine asked as Sarah crossed her arms tightly and said,

“You heard me. I did it, because I am a good friend.” Sarah said standing on her claim as Lorraine shook her head and said,

“No, that is not why you did it, You are a suck up wanna be bitch. I can’t believe that I thought I would actually forgive you for what you did to me and still see you as my best friend. I thought maybe I could forget about what you did, but it seemed I was wrong. You just gave me substantial reasons why to cut you off.

“I don’t understand, what are you talking about?” Sarah said as Lorraine faced her and said,

“Well then, miss righteous, the only reason why I stopped sleeping with Noah, is because you had been doing that so perfectly well. You think I didn’t know. I found out for months yet pretended to be dumb whole you two carried out your nefarious activities, did you really think I am stupid?” Lorraine said as Sarah’s mouth dropped to the floor in astonishment. She didn’t expect this turn of events, so that was why she had been a little distant all these months.

“It didn’t mean to happen, it just happened and I felt bad about doing it, believe me I tried to tell you but….

“But instead, you decided to keep on doing it. I just realized now that you are so ready to bin the blame on me. You are trying to coax me into saying these are mine so that you can have Noah to yourself righr? Well keep him, and stay the hell away from me and my….

There was a loud banging on the door as a male’s voice could be heard,

“Lorraine open the door, it is Noah.”

Lorraine turned to look at Sarah angrily who just looked down and said nothing as Lorraine faced the door again and took a deep breath. She knew that the pounding was only going to get louder and it was only going to make the remaining workers call the police because of noise pollution and she didn’t want to answer questions she didn't have the answers to. Taking a deep breath, she walked to the door and opened it slightly but Noah forced his way in and entered the room as he looked furious.

“When were yu planning on telling me that you were back?” He yelled as Lorraine closed her eyes to shut his voice as the babies started crying loudly.

“Will you stop shouting? You are irritating the babies.
