The next day, Ainar finds himself once again sitting by the door of Gavin’s shack. He had delivered his food for the midday after his own meal, and the omega invited him to sit once again as he ate.
“Slow down, Gavin,” Ainar chuckled as he watched him scarf down the food he delivered.
Gavin’s cheeks colored in embarrassment. He covered his mouth with his hands, obediently slowing down as he chews the food. When he successfully swallowed them, he removed his hand from his mouth to talk.
“I don’t want to make you wait long,” he reasoned.
Ainar hummed.
“I don’t mind waiting so don’t worry about that,” he assured.
“Sorry, Alpha.”
“You don’t have to say sorry either,” he said as he gazed at him softly. Gavin met his eyes for a brief second before turning them back to the food in front of him. He continued eating, now slower. Ainar smiled in extreme fondness at the omega.
“Do you have anything to do after this?” he asked when the omega finished eating. He moved to gather the tray in his hands before meeting Gavin’s eyes who was only watching him.
“No, why?” Gavin answered.
“I was wondering if you wanted to take a walk? No pressure, of course. You can refuse,” Ainar said. He waited for his answer. Gavin has a thoughtful look on his face contemplating.
“Where?” Gavin quietly asked.
“In the forest? Pack grounds? Anywhere you’d like.”
“Would it be just the two of us?” he asked unsurely. Ah, so he’s worried about that.
“If you’re worried about pack members, you do not have to. It would be just the two of us,” he answered. Gavin’s eyes widened at his statement, he looked flustered.
“I am not worried about pack members,” he murmured as he averted his gaze, fiddling on his fingers he placed on his lap.
“You are allowed to,” Ainar answered, assuring.
“You are still fairly new to the pack. It is natural to be wary. Or am I taking it wrong? Would you like to have someone else walk with us?”He played with his fingers more on his lap, Ainar only watched him, patiently waiting for his answer. A few moments later, he raised his gaze, meeting Ainar’s eyes. He’s getting better in meeting the alpha’s gaze. Ainar takes it as a win.
“No, no, I would love to take a walk with you. Just you.”
Ainar smiled at him, all soft at how the omega is acting. He stood up, carrying the tray in his hands.
“Well then, I’ll be back. I will just put this away then we can go,” Ainar said as he walked to get out of the shack. He was slipping his sandals on when he smelled it, Gavin’s anxious scent. It’s subtle, the smell of amber and something bitter and spoilt, but since his wolf is more naturally attuned to Gavin, he was able to smell it. He quickly stood up; eyes wide as he looked at the omega.
“What’s wrong?” he worriedly asked.
“Don’t do that,” Gavin said.
Ainar is confused. He sees Gavin pinching on his wrists again so he put the tray in his hand aside to sit back by the door.
“Don’t do what?” he asked. Ainar slowly reached for his wrists, immediately halting his movements when he realized what he was doing.
“Can I touch you?”Gavin is confused by the question. There he is with his questions again.
Ainar waited for his answer, it took a while but Gavin eventually nodded. He carefully pried Gavin’s hands off of his wrist, rubbing soothing circles on them. His skin is already bruising at his ministration. Because of his complexion, he easily bruises. Ainar frowned at the variety of pinks and violets on the omega’s wrist. Gavin’s wrists look delicate, engulfed by his hands. He has the sudden urge to kiss them, but he sobered up quickly. Shaking his head at the thought.
“Hey, look at me,” he softly called out. Gavin obediently met his eyes, looking up at him.
“What’s wrong?”“I don’t like it when you do that,” Gavin replied.
“Do what?”
“I don’t like feeling useless.”
Ainar is shocked at the statement. Did he do anything to make him feel like that?
“I am used to doing a lot of things—chores in my pack. But here, I am left with nothing to do. You do everything for me, even the things I should be doing. And it’s making me feel…useless,” the omega rambled. His scents spikes in anxiety at every word.
He continued to rub soothing circles on his wrists, exuding soothing pheromones subtly to help the omega relax. It seemed to help, if the subtle sagging of his shoulders and the obvious drawback of amber in his scent is anything to go by.
“Oh, sweetling,” he sighed.
“You should have said something.”“But I didn’t want to disturb, Alpha,” he replied quietly.
“I told you, you are not an inconvenience. Your presence will never disturb me,” Ainar soothed. He sighed while gazing at the omega.
“If you really wish to have something to do, the pack has a lot of chores and our packmates would be delighted to have you.”Gavin doubts that. Delighted? He doesn’t think so. But he keeps quiet.
Ainar lets go of his hand. Gavin had half a mind to grab it back but he refrained himself. The alpha would think he’s weird.
The alpha picked up the tray once again and turned to Gavin.
“Let’s bring this to the cooking house?”
They walked out of the shack. Gavin is the one holding the tray now. Ainar’s wolf is protesting against it, his wolf doesn’t want to allow his omega to work, badly wants to just take care of him and do things himself, but if it would make Gavin feel better then he’ll just have to tame his wolf.
“What do you want to do in the pack?” Ainar asked as they’re nearing the cooking house.
“Do you have any particular chore in mind? You can teach pups?”Gavin thinks he’s not smart enough for that.
“You can help in the fields? Or are you interested in archery? I heard Southern packs make great hunters.”
Hunters.
A scene suddenly flooded his mind—a forest. But he is quick to shake it off his head. There is no reason for him to revisit the memory.
“Cooking house?” Gavin asked, turning to look at the alpha.
As if on cue, they stopped by the entrance of the cooking house. Ainar turned to him.
“You’d like to work on the cooking house?” the alpha asked. There isn’t any malice in his voice, just plain curiosity but for some reason, Gavin feels defensive.
“Yes,” he answered.
“I am an omega. I am supposed to work in the cooking house, am I not?”Ainar looked shocked at his statement. Why, though? He is telling the truth.
“That’s not true, omegas can do so much more things aside from that,” Ainar answered. His brows are furrowed.
Gavin wants to disagree, but he chose to stay quiet.
“Where are we putting this?” he asked instead. Ainar looked like he wanted to continue the conversation but decided to drop it too.
He walked ahead of Gavin to show him where he should place the tray. On their way, they pass by an elderly omega.
“Nana,” Ainar called softly. She was doing something in the sink, but she stopped what she was doing and turned around to greet them. She wiped her hands off of her tunic.
“Ainar,” she softly called back. Her eyes, soft and wise beyond her years, looked fondly at Ainar. She’s smiling so wide, cheeks dimpling in happiness as crow feet appear at the corner of her eyes.
“What brought you here?”Ainar smiled back at her, equally soft.
“We dropped something by,” he answered gesturing to Gavin. Nana shifted her eyes to Gavin, gaze unchanging.
“You are with your mate,” she said excitedly.
Gavin bowed his head slightly, giving her a timid smile.
“Gavin, this is Nana, she’s the head of the cooking house. The one who cooks our meals,” Ainar explained.
“Nana, this is Gavin. He loves your cooking.”“Oh, that’s lovely to hear,” she cooed. She took a step forward and gently grabbed Gavin’s hands. Gavin stared at her with wide eyes, awkward smile on his lips. The elder omega’s scent is soothing, a hint of lavender and honey, making his shoulders relax. He thinks she smells subtly of bonfire. Gavin wants to bury himself in the scent.
“Nice to meet you, Omega Gavin. You are so lovely. Tell me anything you need and I’ll give them to you.”Gavin only smiled at her, feeling shy at the compliment.
“Omega Gavin said he would like to help in the cooking house,” Ainar supplied.
Nana turned to look at him, eyes wide in delight.
“Is that so? We’d be happy to have you here,” she said. Her hold in his hand tightened for a fraction but remained gentle.
“Maya helps here from time to time too.”Gavin gave her a grateful smile. Nana cooed at her.
“You are so precious, aren’t you?” she let go of his hand to cup both of his cheeks. If it were anyone else, Gavin would have flinched away. But he oddly feels safe with the elder, maybe because she’s an omega and Gavin likes her scent so much.
“We have to fatten these cheeks up, hmm? Nana will make sure to cook more delicious food for you.”Ainar chuckled at the interaction. His eyes are fond as he watches the two.
Nana turned to look at him, hands still on Gavin’s cheeks.
“Are you pups headed somewhere?” she asked.
“We’ll just take a walk, Nana,” Ainar answered. Nana dropped her hands from Gavin’s cheeks but not before lightly tapping it.
“Then you should go. I won’t hold you off your plans,” she said.
“Wait here. I’ll give you something.”Nana left to grab something from her shelf. She handed Gavin a small container, filled with…berries? Gavin accepted it.
“Those are candied berries I made. It’s good to munch on them while you walk,” she explained. She made a shooing motion with her hands. Turning to walk back to the sink to continue what she was doing.
“Now go, the weather is really good today. You can come here anytime to start working or just to keep me company. Don’t pressure yourself, pup. Whenever you’re ready.”They murmured their gratitude to her before walking out of the cooking house.
Gavin and Ainar quietly walked to the direction of the forest. Gavin, who had learned his lesson from the day they walked to the river, is walking ahead of the alpha. He stared at the container in his hands, at the candied berries.
“You should try them.” Ainar said from behind him.
“Nana makes them really good.”Gavin decidedly picks one from the container and popped it in his mouth. His eyes widened at the sweet taste. He even stopped walking.
“It’s good right?”
He turned to Ainar and nodded repeatedly.
“It really is,” Gavin answered.
The alpha chuckled in fondness. Gavin extended his arm to offer some to the alpha. Ainar gratefully smiled and picked one himself.
They continued walking while eating the candy. Gavin hums in delight every time he pops one into his mouth, and Ainar is very much endeared. At one point during their walk, Gavin stopped walking again, but this time, it was to wait for the alpha so they could walk side by side.
He pushed himself to act nonchalant, willing the blush to disappear from his cheeks as he walked side by side with the alpha, but still with a small distance from each other. He basks under the sunlight filtering through the thick canopy of leaves, the crunching of dried leaves as they walk soothing him along with the alpha’s scent, the faint smell of rainwater mixing with the earthy scent of the forest. Gavin wants to close his eyes just to savor it, but he’d rather save himself from the embarrassment.
They walk deeper in the forest. Gavin takes in the beautiful sight of it in front of him. It’s hours after midday, the sun is till on its peak but the wind is really cold on his cheeks, giving him a healthy blush. He loves this kind of weather. He had always loved cold weathers so he always took his time to savor it every time the rare cold season visited back in the South. Now though, he can enjoy it every day.
They reach a clearing and Gavin gasps at the sight of it. Endless patches of green welcomed his sight. Tall grass and wild flowers laid on the field. He excitedly looked back at Ainar.
“This place is so pretty,” he gasps. His eyes are wide in excitement.
“It is, isn’t it?” Ainar replied. Gavin’s excitement is contagious. He also has a wide smile on his face. Gavin’s scent smells so much better when he’s happy and content. Ainar wants to keep it that way.
“I used to come here to play with my friends as a pup.”“Can we go?” Gavin excitedly asked. Ainar, very much endeared, he can’t really say no to Gavin, he thinks. With his wide eyes sparkling in excitement, pink-tinted cheeks bunching up in a shy smile, Ainar thinks he doesn’t notice it but the omega is almost bouncing on the heels of his feet. He smiled back at him, somehow as equally excited, and nodded at him.
They walk past the trees and through the tall grass and to the bed of flowers. Many different flowers grew on the clearing. Trees surrounded the space, gone are the thick canopy of leaves shielding them from the sun earlier, sun shone brightly at the area.
It’s as if time had slowed down as he gazed at the omega. He watched as Gavin gasped excitedly at every flowers. The omega ran around the field, hands outstretched as he let them graze the flowers. A small smile is playing on his lips as he gazed at him. Gavin’s happy giggles are echoing in the forest, a beautiful smile is stretching on his lips and his eyes shuts tightly, nose scrunching in happiness and breathless giggles escape his lips as he enjoys himself. His white skin is glistening under the sun, giving him an almost ethereal glow, his equally white hair is bouncing with him as he bounced on his feet in sheer happiness. As he opened his eyes, the deep blue color of it stood out among the sea of flowers.
Ainar thinks he hasn’t seen anything as beautiful his whole life.
Gavin stopped running to call him.
“Alpha!” he called out. Ainar came back to his senses and raised his brows questioningly at the omega. He can’t even call him out at the slip of rank.
“This place is so beautiful,” he said bashfully. There’s that shy smile again on his lips and Ainar is…he’s almost melting at the warmth that settled in his chest.
Ainar wants to disagree. The place is indeed beautiful, but he thinks he has seen something more already. The place was already beautiful in itself, but added with the happy omega currently playing and happily giggling in it, Ainar thinks it’s a sight more beautiful than any other things in this world. It’s a sight he’d never get tired of watching for the rest of his life. But he doesn’t say that. So, instead, he smiled back at the omega who went back to running and brushing his hands on the flowers. With a different view in his mind, he muttered to himself.
“It really is."
The walk every afternoon became a routine Gavin have learned to look forward to every day. He would patiently wait for Ainar to deliver his meals, eat in his shack and then eventually leave for the walk. They never failed to go to the clearing every time and Gavin enjoys himself every time too. Since he hasn’t had anything to do since he arrived in the pack, it was a good change for him. Plus, he and Ainar had been getting quite closer because of it. But although he enjoys it, a small part of him still feels guilty every time the alpha delivers his meal. A voice in his mind is telling him that he should be the one doing it for the alpha. So, there he was, days later, gathering all the courage he can muster before walking out of his shack. It’s hours before his midday meal, and instead of having Ainar deliver his food for him again, he decided he’ll go on the cooking house himself where he heard everyone in the pack eats together. He’s ne
Ainar is nervous, more than nervous to be honest. He has been wiping his forehead off of his nervous sweat for the past minute. His scent must be going haywire too, if the weird look Nana is giving him is anything to go by.He carefully packs the snacks he had been preparing into separate jars, putting them into a clean sack.“Pup, you stink,” Nana suddenly said. Ainar groaned at her jab.“Nana,” he called out, pout in his tone.“I’m nervous, okay?”“What are you so nervous for? The snacks you prepared are good,” she said incredulously, as if Ainar just said the biggest joke of the year.“You are just going for a picnic with your omega. What is there to be nervous about?”“Well first, he’s not my omega. Yet,” he pointedly adds when the elder omega opened her mouth to complain.&ldqu
Over the week, Ainar had given him a lot of courting gifts that he had actually made a collection on his shelves. The alpha gave him a necklace made of pretty shells he once came to collect when he wandered far enough in the forest, dried flower petals he pressed between two flat woods to preserve, the alpha even carved him spoon with delicate flower details, Gavin loves it the most. The alpha showed up at his doorstep one day, proud look on his face as he presented the wooden spoon in his hands. Gavin has been using it ever since, proudly on display as they ate in the cooking house with the rest of the pack. The news of their courting spread fast in the pack too. He doesn’t know how it happened (given that he’s been parading the gifts) but Gavin guessed it was bound to. Now every time he walks out their stares last longer, the murmurs decreased but it was still there. Every time he feels anxious under their gazes, Ainar makes sure to make him feel that he’s t
Gavin abruptly wakes up panting. He’s covered in cold sweat and his heart is racing in his chest. His eyes wildly scan around his shack, body on high alert as he scrambled to sit up. When he finally recognized the room he is in, he lets out a shaky exhale, body deflating, trying to calm himself down. He counts his breathing in his head but he doesn’t close his eyes, afraid that he’ll see his dreams in the darkness of it once he does. He shudders even at the remnants of his dream, he can almost feel it again on his skin and he badly wants to shake it off, utterly disgusted. When his breathing evened out, he groaned in frustration. This is not a rare occurrence for him, but it still feels so frustrating. The dreams, restless night and unsettling memories. He belatedly sees the rays of the morning sunlight filtering into the closed windows of his shack. He inhaled a lungful of air and winced when he smelled the bitter scent of his distress, caused
Maya and Andrea came to pick him up in the evening. He wore his baby blue tunic; he wonders how they got that color. But then again, Omega Riza did mention about someone in the pack making dyes. He loves the color; he thinks it matches his eyes. They all walk together, with Maya and Andrea on his both sides.“I’m so excited for the festival,” Andrea announced.“Will you join?” Gavin curiously asked.“She never joined festivals. I am quite sure she is just excited for the food,” Maya answered.“Hey!” Andrea called out. Maya only chuckled at her. They continued to bicker and Gavin carefully watched their dynamics. He wishes to have that kind of familiarity with them someday. The whole pack is buzzing with excitement when they got to the center. A huge bonfire is already lit up and like last time, a huge long
Ainar heaved a heavy sigh as he stepped out of the elder’s den. It was a long talk; they started the discussion in the morning and it only just ended now. The topic of his mating with Gavin has been an ongoing debate these days and he is honestly so exhausted. He made it clear he wanted to court the omega. He told them he can rule the pack with or without the mating bite too, so he honestly don’t know why they are still so adamant on his mating before letting him take over the Pack Alpha status. His father had been on his side the whole time too, it’s just the elders that are being pushy. He inhaled deeply, hoping to calm himself down. The smell of bonfire is pungent in the air. Ah. How could he forget. Tonight is the festival of the full moon. He wonders if Gavin joined to celebrate. He walked down the den and made his way to the pack center where he’s sure all the pack members are. He scanned the crowd with his eyes, hoping to see Omeg
Silence. It was the first thing that registered to Gavin when he gained consciousness. His hearing is quite muffled, but he knows it was silent. The second thing was, it’s bright. He could see some light even behind his closed eyelids, so maybe he’s somewhere under the sun? He can’t feel it though. Is he still in the forest? No, he answers himself. It’s not that bright there. He tried to feel for his body. He first felt himself laying down somewhere, it’s kind of soft, so it’s not the forest floor, is it? He tried moving his arm, his fingers. And then he felt it, the overwhelming pain registering in his whole body. He groaned at the feeling; he wants to curl up but he can’t move. He also wants to cry, both in pain and happiness. He’s in pain, that means he’s alive right? Someone found him? They saved him. The thing is, he can remember asking for help. He remembers screaming, and running but h
It took a while, but when Gavin saw her, he’s shocked to see her appearance. Her hands are bound by a thick rope in front of her, the rope is connected to the one tied around her waist. Gavin’s watched as she was brought in front, the end of the rope bound to her is being held by an alpha. The alpha pushed her to kneel in front of the platform, on the hard ground, meters away from the elders. Gavin almost stood up to help her when she winced in pain as her knees made contact to the ground. He studied her appearance. Her hair is unkept, a mop of mess on top of her head contrary to the one he’s used to where it’s always combed straight behind her back. Her face has few bruises, eyes bloodshot and puffy, but there was an angry look to it, almost making him flinch. Gavin notices how she’s still wearing the same tunic he remembers she was wearing that night. Its white color now faded with dirt. She looks so different, far from the Alpha who always had a smile on he
Pain. It’s the first thing his body registered when he gained consciousness. He wasn’t even aware of when and how he fell asleep again. But now he’s awake for the nth time, and he is once again enveloped in pain. His whole body is aching. It’s a cycle at this point. One that he had fallen into without a choice, ever since he was taken. Weird. That seems to be a trend in his life. To wake up in pain. That seems to happen a lot to him. Did he exist just to suffer? Does living means to suffer? Or is he a special case? The back of his head is throbbing from where he was hit by something hard. He thinks it even bled at one point. But the tightness he feels from it tells him that maybe it’s all dried up and gross by now. It doesn’t make it hurt any less though. If anything, he thinks it only hurts more. The ache in his body is different though. It’s not the kind of ache that one gets from being hit, like the one in his head feels. The pain feels more internal, reminiscent of his previ
Everyone in the hall fell silent at the entrance of the two leaders. Numerous pairs of eyes watched their every step as they made their way in front of the hall. The former pack alpha, clad in his usual white attire stood in front, a stoic expression on his face. Beside him stood the Pack Luna, whose features were hidden behind her usual veil. There was a certain tension as the hall fell silent, that even Nicholas who was standing beside Ainar looked tense, back as straight as a plank as he gazed upfront. It’s affecting Ainar too. But his desire to know what happened and at possibly being a step closer into finding Gavin is overpowering. Despite himself, Ainar waited with everyone—all equally eager for the news. The lack of urgency is getting into his nerves, stressing him out. But he guesses the Tundra has their own way of dealing with things. If this happened in Moon Valle
The sound of his footsteps was loud in his ears. The clacking of the heels of his winter boots as it made contact with the marble floor of the palace echoed loudly against the darkness of the hallway. It sounded hollow, bouncing off of the corners coldly. The shoes weren't even laced up properly. Just messily worn in his haste to get out of the room upon hearing the news. He barely had the consciousness to grab a coat if not for the cold that he knew awaited him. He was still wearing the same clothes he wore earlier, ruffled from his sleep, or was that yesterday already? He doesn’t know. He had long lost track of time. It wasn’t a matter of importance anyway. He doesn’t think anything is important at the moment. Just Gavin. His eyes briefly gazed out of the lone open window, scanning the outside surroundings. It’s dark. Ainar doesn’t really know the exact time. But it’s dark. The usual bright moon now hidden behind dark clouds. How long was he asleep? He passed by some palace helper
Ainar, in his wolf form, furiously ran through the heavy snowfall. His slim form is struggling through what everyone in the palace had warned them as a snow storm, but he’s determined. It’s been two days. He can’t let another day pass without finding Gavin. He can’t just sit still and let the palace hunters do it. Not when it’s Gavin’s life on the line, never mind the fact that he is such an important figure in Tundra. It’s his Gavin. He has to move. He shook his whole body to get rid of the discomfort brought by the cold. He doesn’t know how long he has been running, but he knows his body is starting to get numb. Still, he persevered. His thick dark fur is almost white now with snow, his huge paws numb as it continues to dig into the cold ground, the soft snow engulfing his whole paw—even his senses are weaker because of the weather but he is stubborn. Ainar continued to brave through the snow storm, pushing his form harder. He left the palace with a group of hunters earlier to sear
Ainar’s boots dug into the snow as he walked on it. Why did Gavin want to go out in this weather, anyway? Ah, right. The omega doesn’t feel the cold, being a different breed of winter wolf, plus the blessing his family is believed to have. Ainar is definitely not jealous, in his thick clothing, bundled up like a waddling bear, nope—he is definitely not jealous.Still, he made his way to the passage Gavin had told him about earlier. As he walked, he felt the heavy weight of his gift in the pocket of his breeches. With shaky hands, he felt for it, sighing as he held it through the fabric. It’s an important gift. Well, all the gifts he gave the omega in the past were all important, all have different meanings and reasons as to why decided to give them, but this one is a different case. It’s extra special. A gift especially meant for one special purpose. And along with it, is a question that has been brewing
As soon as Gavin saw Pack Alpha Frederick patting Ainar on the back, he quickly stood up and made his way behind the platform. The servants easily cleared the way, opening the door for him, taking him to the hallway that leads to the garden he mentioned. He followed his instinct and the residual scent still hanging in the air, until eventually, he found the figure standing behind the taller bushes, back against him. Gavin slowly approached the figure, making effort to not make much noise. “Already running away, Pack Alpha?” It was almost comical, the way Jared almost jumped out of skin. The alpha turned around to face him, eyes wide with his hands clutched dramatically against his chest. “You scared me, brat,” he breathed out. Gavin giggled at him.“What are you doing here?” “I saw you sneaking out and figured I should do the same,” Gavin shrugged, walking closer so they were standing side by side.“You?” “It’s overwhelming.” Jared sighed, averting his gaze. “I thought you were r
Gavin pulled at his cloak for the nth time, fidgeting as he adjusted the bow around his neck for the lack of nothing else to do to ease his nerves. He can’t stand still; his legs haven’t stopped shaking from where he’s standing and his hands need something to hold—preferably Ainar’s hand but the alpha is not with him at the moment—just to distract himself. He’s so nervous he might actually throw up.They are now standing behind the drawn curtain, at the side of the makeshift platform in front of the snow-covered ground of the palace, waiting for the ceremony to start. It’s still a few hours before the sun’s descent, but the square is already brimming with people attending the ceremony. Gavin could hear their murmurs as they also wait for the ceremony to start. They are probably excited, completely opposite of what Gavin is feeling now. He heard it’s the first time in the past two decades that they’ll be seeing their leaders, and even their past coronations were always mostly done priv
Everything is almost like a déjà vu as the palace fell into another whirlwind of preparations. It felt faster this time, and soon, Gavin found himself standing in front of the lost pup’s monument again—his supposed monument—a night before the coronation. He was feeling restless for some reason. His heart is in a constant state of fast beating with nervousness as the day of the coronation neared, the same day he’ll be properly introduced and revealed to the whole pack. He believes his nervousness is reasonable, everything is still fairly new to him after all, and now, he’ll be exposed and revealed to the people who thought he was long gone. A coming-of-age ceremony that is probably long overdue. It’s nerve-wracking, but not in an entirely bad way. So now, he’s here, trying to find ways to ease and distract himself. He thought maybe the cold night winter air would help, so he stepped out. And that’s how he found himself here, after wandering through the hallways that he still can’t get h
The table is filled with chatter as they ate. Pack Luna Alice looks especially happy as she urged everyone to try every food they prepared. It was adorable. Her excitement for the whole ordeal was almost childlike, eyes twinkling and crinkling on the corners with her big excited smile as she looked at everyone on the table. Gavin feels for her. Because as he, too, roamed his eyes around the table, the obvious difference in the two packs where the others looked completely fine while the others are bundled up in thick clothing, was a contrast that still goes undeniably well, they look harmonious—complete. Even the Pack Alpha Henry, who looked almost passive most of the time, has a small smile playing on his lips as he silently ate, sitting at the head of the table, occasionally engaging on a conversation with Pack Alpha Fredrick.“Gavin,” his mother called from across him. He looked up and gave her a small smile, swallowing his food
