The warm hands cupping Gavin’s cheeks is the only thing keeping him grounded at the moment. The soft mattress dipping under his weight, the darkness of Ainar’s cabin with only a few candles providing them of small light and the akoha’s spoiled scent is barely keeping him afloat. Gavin took a sharp intake of breath. Ainar is silent in front of him, his mouth is open but not a single word has come out of his mouth after the omega’s confession. He has been silent, but his eyes are loud, glinting gold in the darkness of the room, and even more so, his scent, that is struggling to remain neutral in an attempt to soothe the distressed omega despite the anger that is threatening to implode.
“How long?” Ainar asked in a whisper, his eyes are searching. Gavin hiccupped, hesitant to answer but he opened his mouth to speak.
“Since I presented.”
<Ainar is angry—no, scratch that—he’s fucking livid. He can feel the gazes of the pack members lingering on him as he passed by them, probably wondering why the pack alpha’s son is waking around while radiating and smelling of so much rage, but he paid them no mind. The events of the past days, especially for those who had been there to witness, were already enough of an answer as to why the alpha is in his current state, others murmured against each other, asking for answers, shutting their mouths once they hear it. Other times, Ainar would have stopped to greet them, especially the older ones as they seemed fond of him, but not today. He had a definite destination in mind, and he can’t wait to finally get there. Ainar would have preferred staying in his shack with Gavin. Already, he misses the omega’s warm body against his own, his small hands clutching onto his tunic, the warm puffs of air leaving his parted mouth as he slept, and the way he seems to unconsciously scoot closer to t
Gavin woke up to the feeling of slender fingers gently carding through his silvery white locks. He hummed in content as he felt Ainar shift from somewhere beside him, scooting closer to the warmth and pushing his head further into the touch. He heard a fond chuckle, making way for a smile on his own lips before he decided to open his eyes, blearily blinking up at the alpha.“Slept well?” the alpha asked as he looked down at Gavin fondly. His voice sounds deeper in the morning, causing a pleasant shiver to run through Gavin’s body. Ainar watched the omega stretch his body on the soft mattress, sleepy eyes staring up at him.“Hmm,” Gavin hummed, closing his eyes again as he fought the haze of sleep still clouding his system. His hands reached out to Ainar, which the alpha immediately took, and intertwined their fingers. Gavin made another contented sound from deep within his chest.
Gavin has been staying in Ainar’s cabin for days now. He politely asked the alpha if he could go back to his own shack now, but Ainar insisted on him to stay there. He doesn’t say it but it actually made him feel relieved, knowing that he doesn’t really think he could stand to be alone again, yet, after everything that happened. But he did quickly drop by his shack—still with Ainar of course, at this point he thinks the alpha won’t let him go anywhere without company—to get some of his tunic. The alpha had been providing him of his own clothes for the past days too. And as much as Gavin likes it, likes the idea of wearing his alpha’s clothes and being drenched with his scent all the time, the clothes are actually not that comfortable to wear with it being too big for him given their obvious size difference.Aside from the security he feels with the alpha, another thing he noticed is the extra attention. Don’t get him wrong, Ainar had always paid attention to him even before. The alpha
Living with Ainar for the past days, for a little over a week now, feels like a dream. Gavin won’t lie, opening his eyes and having the alpha’s peaceful face as his first view every morning is not just a dream, it’s /the/ dream. It felt like the world outside the cabin does not exist, living only in their own bubble. The days are filled with just lazing around, maybe some tears here and there because nightmare is a bitch, and more scenting. At this point, Gavin won’t be surprised if someone came up to him and mistake him for an alpha, never mind his features and built, just because he smells so strongly of Ainar now.But of course, as much as Gavin wants this to continue, to stay in their bubble forever, there’s a world waiting for them outside. There are responsibilities waiting to be fulfilled, especially by Ainar. That’s how Gavin found himself in this situation, playing a game of tag with Ainar who doesn’t want to leave.“Ainar,” Gavin whined as he rounded the chair in the common
Ainar was out again the next day. No matter how hard the alpha wishes to just stay with his omega, his responsibility he has in the pack is not something he can just continuously push off. So, it was with great difficulty again that Gavin convinced him to go. The alpha looked both torn and fond, but eventually, with a peck on Gavin’s lips, he left to meet with the elders once again. Now Gavin is sitting alone in the cabin. He had just finished his midday meal, as Ainar refused to leave without seeing him finish it. The alpha is being so protective, and in a way, others would probably see it as irritating. But for Gavin who has known nothing but violence and abuse in his life, the alpha’s protectiveness was welcome as it’s not restricting and caging in any way. Ainar is protective yes, but he makes sure Gavin has a choice in everything. He had always been like that from the start. Making sure to ask him if he’s fine with anything he’s doing, always making sure that Gavin was comfortabl
Lucy. Gavin repeated the name in his head. It sounded familiar, but he doesn’t really know where he heard it. “Nice to meet you, Alpha Lucy,” Gavin replied politely.“Would you like to join our little picnic?” Maya looked shocked at his question, she splattered. Gavin looked at her questioningly, about to ask her why but Lucy already answered. “Why, of course. I would love to,” the alpha replied. She stepped closer to their laid picnic mat. They immediately make room for her. Jannah even moved the empty containers of their food back to their basket so there would be more room. Slowly, they settle back down.“Ah, this feels nice. After being sick for so long, I can finally enjoy a day outside.” “You have been sick?” Gavin curiously asked. He watched as a small smile spread on the alpha’s lips. “For days,” she answered. Her eyes are dark. Gavin takes note of the thick lashes framing her eyes, making them look sharper. “I am glad you are well now,” Gavin answered. The alpha only ga
It was Gavin’s turn to tense up, eyes opening wide as his mouth parted open in shock. He looked at his three friends standing not far away from him, sending them questioning looks but they only averted their gazes and looked down. Is that why they have been tensed around Alpha Lucy? Because she’s the pack—When his eyes landed on the alpha, she has an amused smirk on her lips, with an equally amused glint in her eyes. Now, as Gavin looked at her, he still sees the frail but obviously powerful alpha. But now, with the discovery of her status in the pack, she looks even more powerful in Gavin’s eyes.“M-mother?” he whispered when he found his voice again. He is still looking at the alpha—no, it’s better to call her Pack Luna now. He can feel Ainar’s warm hands still on his waist, but it did not do anything to quell the shock still present in his system./My mate has been busy with gatherings with the elders//I apologize you had to go through that. I did not expect such behavior from an
The North has always had a cold weather, which something Gavin truly loved. He loved the cold air that kisses his skin every morning, painting his cheeks with healthy blush, the still cold air despite the high sun during midday and the wind that grows progressively colder the same time as the sun’s descent. He loves it. He actually wishes the pack had thinner clothes so he could feel the cold more since their tunics are made from materials meant to withstand the climate. But at the end of the day, it’s for protection so he cannot really complain about it.Now, the winter season is coming and the place is just getting colder and colder, and Gavin is living for it. Living in the South before, winter season was such a rare occurrence, if they were even lucky enough to have one. They only had two permanent seasons, the wet and dry, which Gavin really disliked. The wet season leaves his nose feeling stuffy, while the hot season makes him sweat profusely. So, when the rare cold season comes
