Bloom was frozen to stillness as she walked into the building. All around her were people in formal suits, walking about and no one even bothered about her presence there. She held her breath as her stiff legs brought her to the front desk receptionist.
Bloom couldn’t help but panic a little in discomfort when the blonde lady stared up at her. She looked so professional in her grey suit and her eyes settled on the badge stuck to the left side of her chest. ‘Anna Simpson, Front Desk Receptionist’.“Excuse me mam, how may I help you?” The woman spoke softly to her and Bloom felt her tongue glue to the roof of her mouth. She was stuck and luckily for her, the woman only smiled and moved on to speak. “You must be here for the interview. Ella!” She looked away while Bloom was seemingly speechless as she remained rooted to her spot, unmoving and almost forgetting to breathe.Another professionally dressed woman walked up to the front desk and smiled brightly at her. At that moment, Bloom couldn’t help the thought that they must have practiced that smile often. The front desk woman spoke to the new dark-haired woman, “Ella can you please show her to the floor of the interview?”The woman referred to as Ella nodded at the other woman and politely walked closer to the frozen woman. “Mam please follow me” That was all she instructed as she moved past Bloom and walking to the end of the lobby. Bloom finally shook herself out of it and followed behind her after she mouthed her thanks to the front desk receptionist. Both women stepped into the elevator and Bloom clutched the brown folder in her hands to her chest like she wanted to push it right into her. The woman standing abreast of her let out a soft smile and spoke to her. “If you remain like that, I’m afraid you won’t be able to speak at all when you get there” She teased playfully and Bloom finally let go of the tension arresting her veins to smile back at the woman beside her.“I’m j-just…nervous”She seeped out, feeling her fingers dig into the folder again. There was no telling what was waiting for her when they will arrive at the floor and that only scared her the more.It felt like the quiet moment before the storm struck and it only dampened her mood even more.A soft ding sound alerted both women of their arrival at the desired floor and Bloom could only suck in a rugged breath. By this time, the folder in her grip was almost screaming for help.“Come with me Mam” Ella stepped out first and Bloom’s wobbly legs moved on their own to make her follow Ella in lead.Tucking loose strands behind her ear, she couldn’t help but marvel at the gorgeous decor of the place. And what’s more? There was an even more elaborate reception desk in there as well. She dragged her frozen feet over the sparkling marble floor after Ella in front.Ella got to the high receptionist desk where another young woman in the same style of clothing as her was donning. This new woman had her blonde hair up in a perfect bun and just like Bloom, her face was sprinkled with reddish-brown freckles over her cheeks and straight nose. When Bloom met gazes with her, the young woman smiled politely at her and spoke.“Welcome mam. The waiting room is over to your right, you’ll encounter other applicants in there” She maintained her smile and it really made Bloom flush for a moment before she nodded hastily and said her thanks.Ella wished her luck and left to return to the ground floor while Bloom summoned whatever patches of confidence she had left in her and began her steps in the direction she was directed.“Best of luck mam!”But she stopped at that voice and turned to see the receptionist smiling widely at her. Now, this was kind of unexpected for Bloom. Nevertheless, not to appear rude, she smiled and thanked her before continuing her way there.Bloom stood before the oak wooden door, sucked in another round of calming breath and held the knob. She carefully pushed the door inwards, almost as if she was a thief trying to sneak in through the backdoor of a house. And once she got into the room, the oxygen flowing in through her lungs got knocked out with such tremendous force that she nearly lost her balance.Just up ahead were the early applicants, seated already with their backs to her. From the looks of it, they were all women and judging from their backs alone, Bloom hated to admit it but…she felt like a ragamuffin in their midst. Still, it was too early to decide. So she shifted from the door and walked in fully and occupied the seat next to large floor-length windows. Her tongue ran over her small but plum lips as she fixated her gaze out the window, observing the drifting clouds and fighting to stable her racing heart.“Next, please come in”Bloom’s head whipped forward to see a very cheerful looking small woman by the opened double large doors which was in front of them all. The happy looking Latina was pregnant and Bloom could instantly tell she was the one her brother spoke of. The woman called in the next applicant who stood up on her super high pencil heels. The brunette wore a very tight suit that clung unto her body like a second skin and Bloom’s brows met with wonder at how she could walk in that without her skirt even snapping. She looked away once the woman went in and rubbed her clammy hands together. ‘You can do this…don’t fret…you’ll be fine’ She spent her time holding a prep talk with herself and wasn’t aware of anything else until she was woken from her mental world by a smiling face and tapping on her shoulder to gain her attention.“Miss Santiago?”Bloom snapped out of it and bolted up with a start. The woman laughed a little and told her, “You’ve been spacing out for a while now. Come on, my boss is waiting”.The warm way she spoke and the soft smile on her face instantly helped to rid Bloom’s worries at that moment and she apologized for her foolishness and tagged along with the woman. But when Bloom walked through those doors, the baggage of worries she had somehow succeeded at locking away, suddenly came spilling down on her almost trembling frame. The office was large and decorated in a masculine tone of gray and white. At this point, Bloom had forgotten to even breathe as she moved like they were rocks tied to her ankles. Her large faint brown eyes rotated a perfect three-hundred-and-sixty degrees as she marveled at the grandeur of the place. The woman she came in with had already moved to the corner by the left where her work table was while Bloom was lost in her trance. Not for long though. A hard, deep bass voice suddenly split her world in two with its glacial slash.“Here for a job or sightseeing?”Bloom instantly felt her very blood dry up from the coldness, smoldering and empty, yet uncharacteristically calmness of the voice. This was almost contradicting the usual uptight and stern personality of most bosses. The trembling woman, looking like a cat drenched from the rain, snapped out of it and was whipped up in immense embarrassment. She parted her lips to speak, peeling her lingering gaze from the beautiful green plants in artistic big flowerpots but only air flowed out.“Done admiring my office then sit”.His tone was harder, yet not imposing. Bloom was at a crossroads at trying to decipher how such a person could sound one way and at the same time appear far from it.She moved, at last but it seemed she wasn’t arriving at his desk at all from the distance she had to cover. This of course made her worry pique its highest as she could now see the intimidating and overwhelming form of a man seated behind a large wooden desk with a glass top. She froze, just like that when she drew closer and her large eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets.“Miss Santiago, have your seat”.There was no trace of warmth in his authoritative voice at all and Bloom shivered involuntarily. She was afraid of glancing at the seat which was just in front of her. The man’s aura was too contradicting for her to comprehend. On one hand, it felt graceful and elegant and on the other hand, it was asphyxiating and disconsolate. Bloom stiffly settled into the chair and held her hands for support.Sitting in front of this man whose bluish-green eyes were hooded and trained on her, Bloom could already see herself flunking that interview. His gaze was so focused as if he was observing her. Those ice cold orbs glimmered with a dangerous light and it chilled her wholly. His blazing aura wasn’t letting her sit well nor breathe comfortably. Every passing second was ultimate torture for her and she couldn’t wait to sprint out of his compressing office.“Your resume?”His hard lips parted once more to ask and as if she was just freed from a grave curse, Bloom fumbled to present and open her folder friskily. She was beginning to fidget and it wasn’t a good sign. Bloom was soon a mess as her shaky fingers let the documents in the folder slip and fell from her grip. She gasped and the CEO only signed, relaxing back in his seat to watch her make more fun of herself.‘Why is this happening?’ She was at the brink of tears at this moment as she gathered her documents together. But something startled her after she picked up a document that was lying on her foot. This made her scream in a loud voice, jerking to her feet but…she bumped the back of her head beneath the protruded edge of the table and winced greatly.“Ow…”Bloom lost her balance, knees slamming back against the floor. With eyes shut and a hand massaging the hurting area, Bloom threw her free arm over the table to find a hold to lift herself up but…she accidentally let her arm swi
Bloom turned around to face them with a shy demeanor. “I know what you must be thinking…and I’m sorry I failed you. But the pay is pretty good, it’s much better than all the jobs I’ve worked ever paid-She was forced to shut up when a hand dived into her hair and ruffled it. Stefano was beaming at her while Benjamin was laid back with a smile. Bloom’s eyes were saucers at his action and she teared up instantly. It was the first time she fought for herself and not runaway like she was accustomed to.“I’m…sorry…”Her lips trembled and Benjamin rolled his eyes, guiding her into his arms. She pressed her face into his shoulder where she cried into until she was exhausted. Mario could only look on at the adults around him as he clung onto Stefano’s arm. The kid couldn’t understand why his mother was crying yet, expelling so much happiness. So he spoke.“Why is mummy crying?” His large blue-green eyes observed the three adults closely. Bloom retracted from Benjamin’s embrace to look over at
Bloom shivered, hiding behind the ravenette man and looking so afraid to be there. She wanted to opt out but he coaxed her to stay. If she had known he was bringing her here, she would have rather gone back home and finished the tubs of ice-cream she planned to buy.“B-but J-Juliano…w-why a b-bar?”She mumbled from behind him, a trembling hand over his shoulder and gripping tight as her meek eyes surveyed the place back and forth. She gulped down saliva and shivered again. Juliano was starting to feel a ping bad at what he placed her into.“It’s just a drink to celebrate your accomplishment and we’ll stop by an eatery and grab something nice okay?” He tried to sound convincing enough as he sent her a solicitous smile. Bloom reluctantly nodded and crept out of her hiding.Juliano smiled and watched her lace her arm in his, gluing to his side like if she distanced from him even in the slightest, she’d be snatched away. Her meek actions made him smile lovingly down at her and he held her
Hayes had brought her to her home but to his bewilder, Bloom was fast asleep. He never once glanced at her throughout the long drive and now that he did at last, she was asleep? The nerve of this woman. He sighed, gripping the steering wheel as he looked around for signs of anyone. Then he honked. Bloom only adjusted properly in the seat while he scoffed.‘She’s something else’ He shook his head, looking up again to see a figure coming out of the building in front. The man approached the car while Hayes helped to take off her seatbelt. But he halted, halfway hovering over her slumbering form when his eyes bore into her face. Her lush, plump pink lips were moving without making a sound. He furrowed his brows, finding this rather intriguing but recalling someone was standing outside the car, he pulled back.Benjamin picked her up and into his arms and all she did was yawn in her sleep and muttered something. “That silly Juliano…leaving me…just like…that….”His face hardened the moment sh
Bloom tried to sink herself into her work instead. It wasn’t the first time she worked as a cleaner like this. She had done three jobs of the same nature in the past so she knew how to get around just fine. She was even busy humming to a song she had memorized as she cleaned over the boss’s desk. She became oblivious to her surrounding and didn’t even notice the intimidating presence watching her. When she picked up the mopping bucket, she absentmindedly moved forward but bumped into something hard.“Ow” She rubbed the side of her face and looked up.She looked like she had just seen a ghost as she froze. Her face dimmed and she swallowed in fear. The boss was here, right in front of her and staring her down. She was trapped, lost in the swirling abyss of his dark hypnotizing orbs.“You can leave now since you’re done. Sharon get me my coffee”.He walked past her to his desk and Bloom watched him, still in her trance. He looked so perfect in his black Armani suit, his midnight-black ha
Bloom shut her eyes tight the moment his fingers felt through the loose tassels of her hair. She thought he was going to palm her face or something so she was shocked when her eyes came open to see him playing with her hair. His gaze trailed off her hair and hooked hers.“That’s a nice name…for such a pretty woman”.He breathed and she shivered. He was in too close that his hot breath ran across the side of her face, heating her cheeks up along its wake. Bloom could only shut her eyes and tightened her lips. This man was acting weird and she didn’t like it.“Um..s-sir-Something swooshed over her from behind like a gust of wind and her eyes flew open to see an arm darted over her shoulder in a shoving manner. Her eyes trailed the length of the arm and she gaped at the end of its stretch. The beautiful man was being held by the neck of his sweater by….“What do you think you’re doing with my employee, Adrian?”His booming voice had an undercurrent to it that frightened her wholly. She w
The befuddled and still surprised CEO watched the van accelerate away. What was this woman? All he knew about her and all he now knew about her were contradicting each other. She was a strange one and never had he found himself incapable of understanding the people he came across. So why? Why was she so different and yet so air headed? The lines on his forehead only deepened the more.Hayes shrugged his shoulders and walked back into the building. The file in his hand crumpled in his grip. ‘Now she’s in my mind as well’ He was pissed and very irritated. What was this condemnation brewing inside of him? He actually wanted to give her this…he stared down at the file in his hand.‘What is wrong with you Hayes warren?’ His behavior baffled him. This was unlike the ice king to bother about a mere employee to this extent. No, he wasn’t bothered about her. She was the one drawing his attention to her disarmingly. This thought vexed him and he stomped off. He needed a drink to flush her out of
‘Why am I still bothered over her?’ This was beginning to tip Hayes off. She wasn’t here, he didn’t even care to know what she was up to or who she hung out with. She was nothing to him…he knew all this and yet.“Curse this” He cursed outward, startling the woman occupying the front passenger seat of his cool ride. She shuddered, “S-sir is anything wrong?” She inquired carefully and he shook his head subtly, still hugging the frown on his face. “No…never mind”.The car came to a halt and he stepped out first. Sharon bit her lip to tame her anger back, he didn’t even bother to come open the door for her. Wasn’t she supposed to be his date for the night? She hissed inward and sashayed towards him.Noticing his hard gaze on her, she grew more confident in her stride and donned a smile that had the people around staring her way in awe and envy.‘Yes, that’s it. Look at me more’ She was confident he was struck as well but to burst her bubble, he wasn’t staring at her at all. There was somet
Bloom laughed heartily to what Anna was saying at the other end of the line as she pressed the button at the bottom of the pen. "You really want to do that? Mario would love it but I don't think Martha would want to join in. It's her day after all..."She was making a list for her daughter's two-year old birthday party and had asked Anna for some suggestions in case she was missing something. "...I think I might have to revise my budget once more" She pouted, using the butt of the pen to scratch her hair as she peered down into the rough scribble."It's good Ella's going with me- you should come with as well..." She began to walk away from the island, heading out of the kitchen where the children's voices came blowing against her.Mario came running down the hallway in pursuit of Benjamin who carried a happily babbling Martha in his arms. Bloom shook her head and stepped back into the kitchen before they would knock into her. "Ben, stop inciting the kids!"She moved away from the phon
“Listen to me! She’s not worth it!” Bloom grabbed his head, raising on the tips of her toes and forcing him to bend down to her as she held a fierce look, searching his flaming orbs as she spoke in a hushed tone.“Hayes…look at me, you’re better than this. I know you can control it…for Mario, you’ll scare him”.Sudden realization struck his mind and he shifted his gaze to look over at the boy who was clutching his grandpa fearfully after his father had barked in that loud and reprehensive voice. He felt sad to see the fear reflecting in the boy’s innocent eyes and deflated simultaneously under Bloom’s gentle pressure. Valerie looked at him calming down and huffed haughtily. Her gaze lowered to her tied hands in front of her and pain distorted the look on her face. She might’ve plotted to get rid of his mother the night of that fire but…she had lost the most valuable things in her life as well. “My avaricious jealousy drove me into committing such a vicious crime…snatching my children
It was Pablo who grinned at the glaring man and innocently walked in, in the company of his sister, his mother and the Don. When Mario felt the new presence that entered into the ward, he looked away and beamed to see Pascal. Carrying his plastic bowl in his hand, he was once again making a great dash. “Grandpa!”Hayes had never seen the Don before and as he observed him closely, he could see the prominent features Pablo had was inherited from his father. “I see you’re having quite the moment yourself huh” Pascal smiled as he had the boy in his arms and the child giggled guiltily. Mario saw the woman that came with them and looked at her with unfamiliarity and he questioned in a small voice, “Are you my grandma?” The child’s innocent question had the adults looking his way and Mrs Jefferson gave him a warm, affectionate smile and quickly glanced at his mother before nodding. “That’s right, I’m your mommy’s mother and that makes me your grandma”. ‘What?’ Bloom, Pablo and Laura were
Standing up, “You could’ve all had it easy if it had been Stefano on your tail…but not me”. Their voice went dangerous at the end and the petrified woman was on the verge of hyperventilating as three loud shots echoed around her and she jumped with great fright. “W-who a-are you?…w-who s-sent y-you…” How shocking it was to see her so badly shaken, it was utterly pitiful to watch and they huffed at her question and came to squat in front of her with their firearm dangling in their loose grip. “The grim reaper, out on a hunt for those who dared to cause Bloom Santiago, pain. Now, on your feet, old hag” They held the gun firmly and pushed its muzzle into her cheek to drill in the command. “Try to disobey me and you end up like that blonde pussy”. She shivered after she heard that. It seemed Adrian had been…she gulped, the situation had completely turned in their favor and all she had worked so hard to build withered away in that single instant. “Move it”. **Bloom entered into the
“Quick! Get her to into the building!” It seemed Valerie had been shielded in time as the commotion began and three men were guiding her as they were running in the direction of the back entrance to the house. ‘Like I would let you get away, you vain witch!’ Adrian couldn’t go after them however. Not when bullets were flying about the place sporadically and the number of fallen men kept on the increase. He had taken cover behind a wall and peered out cautiously to see they were all down and the attacker was nowhere in sight. ‘Did he go after them instead?’ He thought that plausible since they must’ve not been only after him but Valerie as well. Whoever they were that had skillfully mingled into his men and kept their profile hidden so perfectly. He froze, there was a sound that defused behind him and his body stilled on an impulse. He heard it again, louder and closer this time and shook wholly at the dreadful sensation that drenched down his form when he heard the cocking of a g
Laura was going to say that normally but it seemed she was rather excited about it than she presumed. Bloom burned even more at her announcement and shrank into herself, wanting to vanish right that moment. ’S-she’s pregnant?’ Mrs Jefferson's brows shot up with pleasant surprise and she walked up to her and held her hands. Bloom felt nervous and antsy as she lifted her gaze and was stunned to see the big smile on her face. “Does he know?!” Ah, this bubbly girl. Bloom was helpless towards Laura and could only blush so hard and bite her lip as she shyly murmured her hesitant reply, “N-no- how would he know anyway when I only just found out?” Laura grinned toothily and Bloom flushed, knowing she was being played with as she sighed. The girl was such a jovial and boisterous person and so the shy and reserved Bloom couldn’t help but get dragged into her pace and teased like that. “Laura, don’t be a bully and spare her your troubles” Mrs Jefferson chided her daughter who innocently zipp
Sergio was walking down the corridor, in search of the little boy. Mario had suddenly just ran out of his father’s ward and since he was small, he quickly disappeared from his uncle’s sight and was currently nowhere to be found. He had thought the boy would be in his uncle’s ward instead but couldn’t find him there either and he was heading to the lobby when he passed the stranger who was stepping out of the elevator. ‘Hmmm?’ Sergio stopped and turned. He saw the back of a man? Well, the build did give away it was definitely a man who was clad in a biker’s outfit and holding his helmet beneath his right arm. His eyes narrowed but he was distracted when he recalled the boy and took a left turn for the stairs, thinking Mario would have taken that way. The stranger smirked and glimpsed at the departing Sergio and walked on. Appearing in front of a ward and reading the name on the doorplate, they pushed the door open and walked in, shutting it behind them quietly. As if they knew before
“Laura, pass the glass of water. She’s waking up” The woman spoke to the girl who immediately went over to the bedside table and gently picked up the tall glass of water and handed it to her mother. Bloom who had been brought in earlier that evening, was scrunching her face and rousing from the state of unconsciousness she was brought in. Her face rumpled more and she shot up with a violent sneeze, startling the other two. Bloom was dumbfounded when her eyes came open. Where were those men she had been with? The surprise attacks and gun shots…her eyes were surveying her surrounding and she couldn’t recognize the unfamiliar faces before her. Mrs Jefferson eased her dilemma by speaking to her first, “You were rescued from the ones who held you captive. I know you’re frightened and still yet to come around with what you’ve been through but I assure you, you’re safe now”. It felt…strangely warm and assuring, to listen to the tender words of this woman who had a similar hair color to he
“You’re acquainted with them?” The chatters ceased and Pablo went silent for a moment, recalling it must really be the first time she was seeing Stefano. He nodded, “Yeah, we’re sort of related”. Sergio jumped when he said that and threw an arm round his neck. “Hey, what’s that to mean huh? We’re your older brothers, the only ones you’ll ever have. Stop acting like we’re some pain up your ass”. And the foul language and his uncouth mannerisms…Alexa frowned openly. ‘I’m worried for the upbringing of this child…then again, I’m not the exception myself’ She cackled suddenly, drawing the men’s attention her way. It was a blow to her, to come to the realization she couldn’t not ship herself with the men and she was retreating away in defeat to her iron principles. She entered the ward and shut the door. That was weird, she just cackled to herself and trudged away. What a strange woman. Stefano was also taking his leave, “Every passing second draws her farther from our reach. I’ll give
