Chapter 6 Apparently, there is no other option

Emma returned to her son's apartment, wrapped in a blanket of frustration, the woman who once served him as if she were in his service, now simply condemned her to humiliation.

"Mom, can I find out where you were?" Harrison asked angrily, the woman went straight to the big couch, and plopped down on it in resignation.

"What can I tell you Harrison, we're at a point in our lives where we don't have any solutions to our problems, our wealth is over, our friends have turned their backs on us, and what's left?" Tell me, what's left?

"There's the mother family, we've got ourselves," Harrison took her hand, trying to comfort her.

"Don't try to change reality," Emma said angrily, "Don't try to make me see something that doesn't exist, we're fucked Harrison!"

"Mom, I'm going to look for a job and I swear we're going to get through this

"Imagine that I went to your ex-wife, to tell her that we would accept her proposal, but the very arrogant one told me that it had already expired, that, if we wanted, she would give us a job. Do you forget who we are?

"Mom, Olivia obviously has nothing to do for us, she doesn't have any obligations.

"Yes, if he does, it was your wife!" We were his family.

"But we didn't treat her as such and I include myself mom, I was very cruel to her, I never bothered to get to know her better, and look at the surprise she gave us.

"We must plan how things will come back in our favor, and you my dear son, you are going to get us out of this, we are going to accept her job offer, and when we are near her, we will bring her down, you will make her fall again at your feet, you are powerful and very handsome my son, that woman does not resist you," Harrison blushed at his mother's words

"It's not like that, Mom. Maybe at the moment we don't have a job and I assure you that as things are, and with her lack of experience, it is possible that we will not find anything, we could reconsider Olivia's offer, at least for a while.

"By the time you can reconquer it!" Emma said confidently, at that moment Joshua and Megan arrived, now the family was complete, and although they were not one hundred percent convinced by the idea of working for Olivia, for now they had no additional options.

Very early, the Martens dressed in their best clothes, they were ready to listen to Olivia's proposal, however, Harrison was not convinced, his ex-wife changed so much, that looking her in the eyes again was a pathetic way to die slowly, because he saw that in his heart there were real feelings for her, her absence cleared away all confusion that was in his mind,  And now, I didn't know what to do with it.

"Mom, I'm not sure about going to that company, I'll look for my contacts who will give me a job, I can't go to Isabel." Emma turned to her son, looked him up and down, fixed the knot in his tie, and confronted him.

"Well, it's not if you want honey!" You must do it, your contacts, seeing you without money are no longer your friends, and we don't even have to eat in the next few days, we are in your hands my love.

"Son, if you're not convinced, let's not go," Joshua interjected

"You shut up!" "You were the one who charged our son with the whole company when he was already bankrupt because of your mismanagement, the one who should be worried about our finances should be you and not him." Now, let's go.

The Martens arrived at McGregor Industries, when the secretary announced them, Olivia improvised in what positions she could put them, because she never imagined that the imposing and proud family with which she lived for three years would bow to her proposal; Solving it, he brought them in.

The four of them entered imposing, with their heads held high, showing the pride that always characterized them, when they met their eyes with Olivia's, something inside Harrison was revealed

<<What the fuck am I doing here>>?" Harrison thought, he wanted to run away, but his mother knew him perfectly well and behind her back she pinched him to stay at his post.

"The Martens!" I didn't imagine they would come, but I think it's spectacular that they accepted my proposal." Olivia looked them up and down, not showing a single hint of empathy, cleared her throat and sat down at her desk, started typing in front of her laptop just with the intention of making them wait a little longer.

She didn't invite them to sit down either, she just left them there, standing in front of her, eager to know what was waiting for them.

Harrison on the other hand did not stop looking at her, she was so impressive, that if it were not for the fact that he knew her physique perfectly, he could have sworn that it was another woman, and it was no wonder, Olivia radiated all her splendor.

About fifteen minutes passed, in which no one said a word, until Emma cleared her throat and boldly spoke to Olivia.

"Olivia, dear," Olivia raised her head and looked at her contemptuously, "We've been waiting for a long time, if you're busy, we can go outside and wait, these heels are killing my feet."

Olivia raised an eyebrow, and gave them a fake smile with the corner of her mouth.

"I'm sorry, something came up, but I'm figuring it out, and I'm already with you. Olivia replied sarcastically

"Anyway, we can wait for you outside Olivia," Emma insisted, while the others barely made a gesture of disagreement

"Well, it's your decision if you want to be outside, but I wouldn't be so foolish about you, because if it's not now, it's never," Olivia again fixed her gaze on the laptop screen and continued, she was enjoying what she was doing, obviously she wasn't doing any work management, but she enjoyed seeing the Martens squirm from the wait,  She wanted to laugh in front of them, but it wasn't necessary, because if they decided to work with her, the time they were there would be the closest thing to hell.

"Of course we're waiting for you, honey!" Emma snorted sarcastically, the last thing she wanted was to miss the opportunity.

Harrison barely maintained his posture, his hands were folded on his chest and his gaze was devoid of any expression, Joshua barely struck poses, but he couldn't mumble a word in front of his wife, and the noble Megan, she was simply crestfallen playing with her fingers, she was too young to be able to comprehend the situation.

Another fifteen minutes later, Olivia closed the lid of her laptop and looked up at the Martens.

"That's it! Now if I'm available to you, please sit down," Olivia pointed to the chairs that were arranged in her office, Emma wanted to beat her up, how arrogant that woman was! Thought.

<<How could he leave us standing all this time? What's wrong with him? Emma cursed to herself.

"Have you brought your resumes?" Olivia looked at them expectantly, stretched out her hands and raised her eyebrows, waiting for their answer.

Harrison grabbed his head, he was so suffocated, he didn't know if he would put up with his ex-wife for another minute.

"No! We haven't brought anything Olivia, we couldn't imagine that she was anything so formal." Harrison interjected, adjusted his jacket and stared at her, she thought for a moment about faltering, but he would never see her again as less, although inside his heart the love he felt was intact, he didn't deserve it at all.

"Then Harrison?" They're coming in for a job interview, and how do they expect me to know where I can place them?

Harrison snorted and straightened up in his chair.

"You know perfectly well that we are experts in, my father is an excellent CPA, Megan is going to college so far, I am an administrator, I was the CEO of our old company, and my mother is the only one who does not have professional certification.

"Women in my time were dedicated to the home, honey, but I consider myself capable of attending to any administrative position," Emma interrupted her son.

"I think everything you're telling me is very good, but for me and my company, what works for us is an endorsed certification, but if they don't have it, then I'll have to place them in the available positions, anyone could do those jobs.

The Martens looked at each other and then stared back.

"Well, tell us then, what's in it for us?" Emma anxiously asked.

Olivia fell silent and began to look around them, got up from her desk and began to spin around the office, causing the tension to grow more between them. She fixed her eyes on each of those present, none of them could have imagined what she had to propose to them.
