Chapter 6

Shaurya's pov

I got ready fast as I had to go to the company early today. There is a project which needs to start so I thought I would read some reports before that.

"Good morning Papa," I said to my father as soon as I saw him sitting in the living room having his morning tea.

"Good morning… going early today?" He asked.

"Yes..need to study some reports for the next project and my PA is also joining today." I said. Papa nodded his head.

We had our breakfast and I left for the office. 

I entered our office and everyone who was there greeted me. It was only 8 am so there was not much staff.

I entered my cabin and after some time Ayaan also came.

"Good morning Sir." He said.

"Good morning Ayaan….so all good?" I asked. He nodded.

"Here is the file ." Saying this he gave me the file.

"When is my PA coming?" I asked.

"I told her to join at 9 am which is our official time." He said. I nodded. 

"Ok you can leave." I said and he left.

I was working in my cabin when I heard a knock at my door.

"Come in," I said.

I looked at my watch to see it's already 9 am. 

There comes my PA ,Miss Arnika Kaur.

"Good morning Sir." She said with a formal smile.

"Good morning...So ready for your job?" I asked her.

"Yes Sir…" She said with confidence. 

I called Ayaan and he came after some time.

"Ayaan , please show  her the cabin and make her understand the works she has to do . Miss Arnika ,Ayaan will help you today. It's your first day so relax and understand the work and protocols.  Feel comfortable here.Good luck." I said.

She smiled and left with  Ayaan.

I gave Ayaan the instructions as I know she has little experience in this business world . It's needed for her to learn the work and things first. I am sure that she will learn it within a week as she has already done her business studies and has done MBA.

I had my coffee and concentrated on my work.

Arnika's pov

I wake up in the morning with a smile on my face. It's been 2 years since I have smiled properly. 

I smiled today because I got a good job . I hope at least here I wouldn't have to be insulted. I can deal with everything but I can't deal with when my self respect gets harmed.

I got up and did my morning chores.After that I had my breakfast 

I took shower and got dressed for my first day in my office. 

They doesn't have a certain dress code..just you have to look formal and decent.

I chose to wear my blue frock which reaches till my calves with a pair of my off white heels.



Arnika's look

At around 8 am I started my journey towards my office ,carrying my essentials with me.

I reached my new office at around 9 am. 

I went to the cabin of My boss Mr. Shaurya Singh with whom I will be working. He instructed his secretary Mr. Ayaan to help me and make me understand the works and protocols and show me my cabin. 

I entered my cabin and it was beautiful. 

"You can add your own taste here….decorate it as you want." Mr. Ayaan said. I smiled.

Then he made me understand the work I have to do. I have to give coffee to my boss ,make schedules for him, arrange meetings with his clients , check the files in which the boss needs to sign, type the mails as boss will tell me to do and sometimes reply the mails the way boss will tell me and other works boss will give me to do.

I will give my 100% in my job.

Shweta's pov

I was working in my office after our lunch hours. 

"Hey babe. " Puja greeted me sitting in front of me.

I smiled as I was busy typing.

"So how's the interview?" She asked, wiggling her eyebrows. 

"It was good...and I think none was better than me there as I am experienced one there." I said  confidently.

"How can you be so sure? Maybe there was someone who was better than you...I mean..come on it can happen. " Puja said.

"I feel it as I have talked with the candidates. They didn't sound so promising  and all. I was the second last candidate and there was one girl who was sitting alone and didn't talk with us. But she didn't look like one to crack it." I said.

"You are impossible. " Puja said, making me chuckle. 

"Have you got a  call?" She asked me.

"No..if I get the chance, I will always be with Shaurya…..it feels so nice .." I said dreamily and continued, "But how can I know if I have gotten the chance or not?"

She smiled, shaking her head and said ,"Just call him and ask him about it." 

I looked at her with an unsure expression.  She sighed and said ,"Come on ,do it...he will not be upset.  In fact it will help you to control your anxiety."

I looked at my watch to see it was already 5 pm and decided to call him.

Shaurya : Mr. Singh here…

Shweta : Shaurya, hi..I am Shweta. How are you?

Shaurya : Oh hi..perfectly fine. All good?

Shweta : Yes yes...actually I wanted to ask you something. 

Shaurya: Yes...say.

I took a deep breath. 

Shweta : Actually, Did I …. I mean...Did I able to get the job of your PA ?

Shaurya: Oh...Actually no. You were good ,but we got someone who is more promising than you. So she was selected and it's her first day here today.

I felt my hope crushed hearing it. I felt upset.

Shweta : Oh… Is she good? I umm...mean...Is she better than me?

Shaurya : She has a  perfect balance of confidence, honesty and straightforwardness which I was searching for in my PA...easy to deal with and will do the work perfectly. I saw those potential in her. So I chose her. 

I didn't know what to say. But hearing him praising her,a certain dislike arose in me.

Shaurya: Shweta ,I have to hang up as I have some work. Bye .

Shweta : Bye.

I hung up  .

"So ?" Puja asked .

"He got one as his PA." I said.

"It's ok...to make him understand your love you will get a chance.  This was just a try. Don't give up." Puja said and got back to work .

I sighed and closed my eyes .

Shaurya's pov

I hung up the phone and sighed. 

I hope my answer gave her the indication of what I wanted to say. I really wanted to tell her that she was overconfident but I didn't as it would hurt her.

I know why she wanted this job. But I can't encourage that . Maybe if Arnika wasn't there, I would have to choose Shweta but it would be a headache  and not so good for my work & company ...most importantly for me as she will be distracted by me and will not concentrate on her work.

Maybe I sound rude but it's true.

It was already 8 pm when I finished my work . I called Miss Arnika to come to my cabin.

"Sir…" She came and stood in front of me.

"I hope Ayaan made you understand everything. "  I asked.

"Yes  Sir. I understood  " She said. I nodded.

"From tomorrow, you are starting your work officially. Come at 9 am. Will give you your work. Now you can leave for home." I said.

"Ok Sir. Thank you " she said and left .
