My hands immediately began to tremble as they were still gripping my gown, murmurings filled the hall and the infuriated look on Luke’s face made it known to me that I was doomed.
“You may kiss your bride.” The pastor repeated in a different tone.
Tristan still had his eyes drawn in askance at me. After glancing around shortly, he wore a smile, obviously to not make things look awkward since people from different media houses were here.
“Bride,” he said through his smiling teeth, held my hands and pulled me closer to him, connecting his lips to mine.
His kiss made every form of worry leave me instantly, it immediately felt like we were alone, in a heavenly place, as sparks continued to travel from my lips to my lungs, spreading to every part of my body in a twinkle of an eye.
My entire world of sudden comfort came crumbling down after the kiss ended and I was drawn back into the real world; where there was fire on the mountain that was called 'my life’.
“And now it is my privilege to introduce to you, Mr. and Mrs. Hendrix.” The pastor announced and everyone, except their family members, clapped.
After the recessional and the wedding ceremony, Indy, Luke, Kade, Hames, Trisha, Imogen, Nikita, Amanda, and Tyler, all came towards us.
“Hazel!” Lila exclaimed, looking so breathless, with beads of sweat on her forehead.
“Don’t create a scene, we wouldn’t want it to go viral. Stay calm, I’m sure all is fine.” Imogen said to her.
“Stay calm?” She scoffed. “Where is Indy?” She snapped at me.
“Uh…” I trailed off, “she eloped with her boyfriend.”
“What?!”
“Boyfriend?” Imogen frowned.
“Don’t create a scene here.” Hames added.
“We’ll meet at my house.” Tristan, who still had an expressionless face, grabbed my wrist to lead me out.
We all left the venue and were bombarded by flashes and questions from cameras and reporters:
—“wasn’t your bride supposed to be Indy Ricardo?”
—“What happened?”
—“Who is she?”
—“Isn’t she Indy’s best friend?”…
The questions weren’t ending, they were making me extremely nervous and all I could do was lower my head.
While the bouncers were doing a great job in stopping them from reaching us, Tristan still had his hand wrapped around my wrist then he led me to the car while others left for their cars.
“Get in.” He gruffed. I got in then he did the same, shutting the door. “Home.” He simply said to the driver.
“I thought I was supposed to drive you to the airport.” The driver murmured, starting the car and zoomed out of sight.
Tristan’s face seemed even colder, increasing my fear. My heart’s excessive pounding had taken my breath completely.
Without a word, he only picked his phone, frowning harder than anyone could ever frown while typing furiously. Oh God…
After a few minutes of constantly glancing behind me to watch the cars of their other family members tailing far behind us, I finally decided to speak, “Tristan, did Indy—”
“Don’t.” He cast a very dangerous glare in my direction. “Don’t say anything, total silence.” It sounded like more of a command that I had to follow. Due to fear, uneasiness and the tension around me, I didn’t bother to get offended by his tone but instead continued dwelling in my realm of fear.
Where on Earth was my phone? I had to call Indy. I couldn’t believe she tricked me. Gosh, I felt like the biggest fool ever.
The drive finally ended then we stopped in front of an extremely grand dark and light grey, probably acrylic, house exterior mansion with white window grids and window headers. Some part of the wall was glass, and there were a lot of elephant shrubs and a few trees around the building. Once again, my worry flushed away at the beautiful sight in front of me.
He wrapped his hand around my wrist again and pulled me out of the car, still frowning.
“Why?” He asked through gritted teeth, not bothering to go in first.
“Why? You’re asking why I got married to you instead of Indy?” I was biting my lower lip furiously, really beyond pissed off that Indy could ever tell such a big lie to me, that devil!
“I should’ve known.” He scoffed. “Indy was always on and on about how great you are but you’re just like others, you’re all gold-diggers, trying to swing out of poverty by trapping billionaires like us with your filthy tricks.” The extreme contortion of his face would’ve scared me if my head didn’t just explode from his words.
“Gold-digger?” I frowned too. “Don’t question my character. I had no idea—”
He cut me off, “so you expect me to smile when you exchanged places with my bride just for money?” He hollered. “That’s very cheap of you, you’ve—”
“Indy deceived me.” I clenched my fists, really pissed off by Indy.
“Oh, really? So she forced you to get married to me?”
“She didn’t but she said you were aware.”
“Wow, lies. I’m so furious right now. I can’t believe this nonsense. Why are you middle class people always trying to get out of poverty without working for it? Why would you play dirty tricks? That’s simply why I never associate with middle class people because you’re all fucking gold-diggers!” He was raising his voice at every word, making my head swell with anger so much. I swear I could break this man’s bones if I had the strength to do so.
I wanted to scream and set him in his place for questioning my character. I was beyond pissed off but my brain was unable to produce the proper words anymore and my mouth just said whatever came out of it. “So what if I’m a gold-digger? Who would enjoy being in poverty and living with a crazy Aunt? What if I also want to live a luxurious life, uh? What if I also want to be a billionaire, a billionaire’s wife?” I hollered.
He looked like he had just been hit by a trailer of shock. “Wow,” he huffed. “Dios, tan barato, no puedo creer estas tonterías. (Gosh, so cheap, I can’t believe this nonsense).” Uh?
Three cars pulled over behind his car and both family members as well as his sister and Aunt Mandy came out of the cars.
~ TRISTAN ~
After coming out of the cars, Aunt Lila ran to grasp Hazel's shoulders. “Where’s Indy?” This woman looked like she was going to pass out soon.
“She eloped with a guy called Ian.” Hazel explained, shooting daggers at me from her hazel eyes.
“Where is she?!” Luke hollered, making her flinch.
“I really don’t know.”
“Try calling her, Tristan.” Mom asked with worry-filled tone.
“I already did and she didn’t answer my call either.”
“I should’ve known something was fishy when she said Hazel wasn’t going to attend the wedding and she wanted only Hazel with her.” Aunt Lila broke into tears.
“She isn’t answering any of our calls. Please tell us where she is.” Uncle Kade asked in a more gentle tone. “This will affect Lila’s health. Please, Hazel, let us know where she is.” He pleaded.
“I promise you I don’t know.” She still insisted on lying? How could she be so annoying?
“Of course she doesn’t know,” I added. “They are all the same, only interested in the money, the benefits, not thinking of the consequences.”
“Don’t say that, there must’ve been a good reason behind this, right Hazel?” Dad asked.
“She already admitted to it, it’s just for money.”
“How can you be my daughter-in-law now?” Mom frowned. “This still makes no sense. Why did you exchange places with Indy? Why won’t you tell us where she is when everyone is so worried?”
“I already said I don’t know where she is.” She pressed on. Still stupid lies. Only heavens knew how much Indy must’ve paid her to lie to everyone, Indy was well known for wasting money so she could’ve paid her a fortune for this nonsense. I was getting angrier every second. I had never felt this infuriated and heartbroken in my entire life, not even after Lucy’s incident.
“Ian.” Luke said with gritted teeth, clenching his old hands into fists.
“This still seems like a movie to me.” Dad chuckled. How on Earth could he chuckle in a situation like this?
“My only daughter,” Aunt Lila said, sounding like she was out of breath and almost fell but Uncle Kade caught her in his arms.
“Take her home, Kade.” Luke said angrily, taking his phone out and started calling whoever he was calling while Aunt Lila and Uncle Kade left for their car and it was driven away.
“Don’t ever return to me. This is your home now. For all we care, the newspaper stated that Tirstan’s family will give the Bride 10 karat Diamond wedding ring as dowry, we’ll receive that.” Mandy smirked then staggered out of sight like a drunkard. They just wanted that? Birds of the same feather. Middle-class…
“Why, Hazel? Why? I really thought she was a good friend to Indy, I thought she was a good and trustworthy person, but just for money?” Mom’s face was still so stern while Hazel’s face was so blank.
“It has happened, she’s now our daughter-in-law. I don’t know why but I like it.” Dad smiled. What was wrong with this man?
“Hames!” Mom exclaimed and he chuckled.
“Welcome home, child. We have to leave now, Nikita. Tristan, Imogen, all things work together for good. She’s a sweet person, I know that.” Dad gently pulled Mom who seemed like she was running out of her mind, with him and to their car.
Nikita had her arms folded across her chest, clearly saving her words for the last.
“I really don’t know what to say to you, man.” Kye shrugged. “It’s actually great, don’t make any decision out of anger, you didn’t want to get married to Indy anyway. I have to leave now, my wife needs me, she won’t stop calling. By the way, Hazel, I’m Kye, your husband’s best friend. Happy married life.” He gave Hazel a handshake though she clearly didn’t want one, taking his leave afterwards.
“I need you to find her, dead or alive! She must pay for going against my order! She’ll be ruined for this terrible mistake, that stupid woman.” Luke startled me by yelling to whoever was on the other end of the line. He was definitely referring to Indy. Crazy old man. “You still won’t say where Indy is? You’ll regret your actions very soon, young woman.” He threatened Hazel then also left for the car.
“So are you going to say anything or what?” I asked Nikita.
“What can I say? Didn’t I warn you to stay away from such cheap, worthless, crappy, middle-class people? They only want money, but you won’t listen. So classless.” She said, glaring at Hazel with disgust-filled eyes.
Hazel rumpled her gown, clenching her fists. It was obvious that she was mad at Nikita’s words but I’d have been even angrier if this had happened yesterday or a few minutes before the wedding. Maybe Nikita had always been right after all.
“Sister-in-law. Silly me was excited to have Indy as a sister-in-law” She scoffed, heading towards the car when it honked.
I spared a glance at Hazel before storming into the house, and used the elevator to go to my room on the second floor.
After getting rid of my clothes, I had a long bath to get rid of my anger, returned to the room and got into my pajamas.
My eyes travelled to outside the window and I noticed Hazel sitting on the floor, resting against the car, while the driver was talking to her.
He held her shoulder, probably consoling her but her face remained pale like she was in shock, not paying attention to the fact that a man was taking advantage of her by caressing her stylishly.
What gave this stupid man the right to touch his boss' wife?
I ordered a maid to my room. “That woman downstairs, she’s my wife.” I frowned again, stopping myself from cringing. “Send her in. If she doesn’t agree to come in, make sure the security men force her here but not roughly, she’s a woman.”
She nodded and took her leave.
I picked my laptop and started working on it. After a few minutes, Hazel was gently pulled into the room by two hefty security men and the maid with them. They left then shut the door after I dismissed them.
She didn’t even glance at me and her face looked so blood-drained.
“We’re staying in this room together. That’s what you want, right? To be with a rich guy, to be famous? Shit, I’ll have to sort this out with social media.” I groaned, raking my hair with my fingers.
“Can I borrow your phone? I have to call Indy, I left mine at the wedding venue.” She said, still not looking at me. So now she could talk to Indy?
“Don’t even dream of touching anything that belongs to me. Tomorrow, someone will fix the room for your belongings.” I scoffed and left the room to avoid feeling really pissed off again.
Heartbroken and disappointed were an understatement to what I was feeling at the moment. I was so disheartened to know that the woman I had developed weirdly strong feelings for, Hazel Evan, was also like the other women I had come across, especially Lucy, all making fun of my emotions.
I was thinking I was finally given the grace like my father, to probably experience what they called true love, from a gentle, angelic, loving, honest, kind, pure person but guess who was so damn fucking wrong? This idiot… me.
I would’ve gladly married her if it had happened normally but by her actions and the fact that she had admitted that this was only to get out of poverty, to be famous, it confirmed that Nikita had always been right, I had fallen for the wrong person.
These women were all the same, all the fucking same!

Sorry for the long A/N.
Stretching my arms out and yawning, I rose from the beautiful and most comfortable bed I had ever slept on (a lovely king-sized bed) and I have never had such an awesome time sleeping like this.Oh yeah, of course, my so-called husband was nowhere to be seen in this room that was surprisingly 'ours'.I arranged the bed, did my morning routine in our excessively classy gold-themed bathroom, made sure to spend enough time during my bath and washed my hair with the wonderful strawberry-scented shampoo. I returned to the bedroom, straightened my hair then wore a red dress I found in the wardrobe that clearly belonged to Indy.I left for the kitchen, not crossing paths with Tristan at all.“Good morning, madam.” Two of the male workers in the kitchen greeted me.One thing I had noticed in this house was that there was only one female worker and the
“Are you my driver or someone else is?” I asked Mike, making breakfast for everyone and of course definitely not Tristan.“Yes. I’d be so honored to drive you.” He said with a bow that caused a smile to appear on my face.“I have to go to work today, my boss is so mad at me for taking such a long break.”“The boss' wife has a boss.” David chuckled, passing a glass of juice to Mike.I didn’t respond to him but finalized the meal while Mike took his leave to arrange for the car.I had breakfast with David and a few other make workers at the dining table, chatting with them whi
Tristan finally pulled over in front of the bakery I worked at. I would’ve asked him how he knew where I was working but of course he must’ve driven Indy here.“Don’t move.” He said with that annoying authoritative voice of his. Curious to know what he was up to, I didn’t move.He got out of the car, turned around and surprisingly opened the door for me, stretching his hand to me.I raised an eyebrow at him but he only wore a smile.“Just give me your hand.” He said angrily through his smiling teeth. What sort of weird man was this?I accepted his hand then he helped me out of the car.“Thank you?” I said, still wondering what had gotten into him all of a sudden. He stood up for me, drove me to work though he said I shouldn’t work here anymore, he al
What on Earth could be more frustrating than living your life the same way everyday? It had been three months since that crazy man called Tristan had left for God-knows-where, not even a call to say hi, he only ever called to say stupid things or give orders, or he must’ve accidentally butt-dialed because he says nothing.Images of him with different models always flooded the internet, frustrating my life so much!My feelings for him had almost washed away 100%.Except the good food and mansion, nothing else was different in my financial status; I wasn’t swimming in money or anything of the sort, just the same poor me.Well… it was probably till at least 9 months I was going to see that devil again.“Hey, what are you thinking of again?” Mike asked, passing a glass of orange juice to me.&nbs
~ TRISTAN ~I was finally done with work for today. I had tried to hurry up in order to cover up for my honeymoon break.“Finally free,” I got up from the chair with a smile of relief on my face, arranged all the necessary files accordingly on the desk, placed the photo properly then left the home office.“Hazel, Hazel—” I had to tell her about the honeymoon immediately. We needed to leave tomorrow so we could return quickly.I got into the elevator to convey to the living room. After the elevator doors re-opened, a frown was plastered on my face at the sight of Hazel with Mike; he had his arm around her shoulders and they were laughing at something I could tell was definitely stupid.Storming to them, Mike immediately flinched from her and rose to his feet.&n
Tristan didn’t return home last night and neither was he home this morning.I had packed my bags for the so-called honeymoon but still no sign of him. Despite my numerous calls, no response.“Where is Tristan?” I asked a random man who suddenly approached me.“I have no idea.”“Gosh, I've been trying to call him since yesterday but no response. What’s going on?”“I really have no idea. I was only told to drive you to the airport. He said you shouldn’t be late.”I let out a heavy sigh. “Please pack my bags.”“Of course, I will.” He bowed politely.I left for our room to give him and another man my bags then locked the door after they left, stripped my clothes off then got into a long black rhine
My chest was burning with excitement from simply hugging him, it felt like I had an entire world of joy in my arms, like I had achieved a world goal.“What are you doing?” The vibration of his deep and husky voice against my chest caused me to flinch. He gently pushed me from him, looking confused. “What was that?”“You don’t know what a hug means?”“What was that for?”"Tristan.... I'm really confused, I don’t know where to begin.”“Why did you just hug me?” He frowned again, walking towards the bed and
“Good morning.” I greeted Tristan who was typing away on his laptop.Of course he didn’t respond to me so I walked away, grabbed a nice and comfy dress to wear.“Wear something else.” Tristan’s deep voice said from behind me. I turned to him but he was still staring at his laptop’s screen.“Why?”“We’ll have to attend a party, it’s business-related. So we're going to buy new clothes today, for you to wear to the party. Be ready in twenty minutes.”“I’m sorry about reading your diary last night but I think we have to resolve this misunderstanding.&rdqu
Her words felt like a hammer struck my heart. “Are you crazy?” I couldn’t believe I was saying that to her.“This is not about being crazy. It’s what’s needed. I’ve thought about it long and hard, and the only conclusion is that it’ll be selfish of me to stay with you, knowing what’s to come.” Tears started streaming down her face.“We’ll face it together. That’s the point of marriage. Together, in good and bad times. Our marriage vows were not for the sake of showoff.”“That’s cliché.” She sniffled. “Tristan, please, we’re not characters in a movie or a book. This is not a matter of whether we can fight this together. It’s reality, and we need to face it. I’m heading for destruction, that’s for sure, but I’m not pulling you down with me.” She held my hands. “I love you so much, and this is the best choice.” The pang in my heart was starting to feel like a burning sensation, irritated that she could think of such.I yanked my hands from her grip, rising to my feet. “Stop with this ‘I’
~ TRISTAN ~ “Y-yes. Indy pushed me!” Her eyes widened.Kye held her hands, his face turning red. “What do you mean? How did that happen? She was in our home?’“Yes, Kye.”“How?” I wondered, a frown forming on my face.“I… I had seen her at the mall a week before she pushed me: she was on the phone and looked so mad, then I got curious and followed her.”“Why would you do that?” I scolded.“I’m sorry. I--I was curious…. She was acting very suspicious. I just wanted to know what was wrong with someone that used to be a friend!” she cried. “I found myself following her to a building where she met a man and he yelled at her for killing someone! She admitted it and just claimed the person was bothering her.”“Indy killed someone?” my voice was low, almost a whisper. I knew Indy was crazy, but had she gotten that bad?“Yes. I was equally shocked. When I decided to run, she saw me and tried to chase me. I ran away and she lost me. I assumed she didn’t see my face and wouldn’t know it was me
I watched his brows fuse together as a tight line formed on his forehead. “What is that supposed to mean?” His hands fell from mine. Oh no, he was judging me. Yet, a strong urge to let it all out overwhelmed me. I would rather he knew the truth and hated me, than continue to lie to his face all because I was being greedy for his love. “After my dad left me at this man’s hands, the man maltreatment and abused me. One day, I had tried to escape, and accidentally shot his dearest bodyguard. Due to that, he--he tied me to a chair and had set a ring of fire around me.” The memory struck me again. I shut my eyes tightly, shaking my head. No, I had to tell him everything. I had to let go of the trauma. “I was…” my words got caught up in my throat. “…burning. I watched the fire grow closer to me and I couldn’t do anything about it. It hurt so badly. It felt like hell. Every day, I feel the heat. It choked me; I suffocated. And watched my life flash before my eyes.“Right after that, he p
Heavily thrusting my fists against the door, I muttered cuss words, also convincing myself that I wasn’t here because I was scared; I was here to give them a piece of my mind and get this over with immediately. The moment a click vibrated from the other end of the door, my heart began throbbing harshly and my breath became unstable. The door flung open and Aunt Mandy’s unpleasant figure stood there, a cigarette dangling from her lips. She scanned me from head to toe, a smirk on her lips. “I knew you’d show up.” She chortled. Nodding her head inwards, she pulled the door open wider.I walked in, feigning a confident look despite my heart racing as wild as ever. On the living room couch, Giovanni sat there, gulping down a beer. The living room was filled with nasty trash and the smell made my eyebrows scrunch up.“Look who’s here,” Giovanni smirked, rising to his feet.He towered over me; he had very bulky muscles that made him too intimidating despite his old age. I had to lift my head
~ HAZEL ~ “Hazel,” Tristan called, wrapping his arms around my waist from behind and placed a kiss on the crook of my neck. His action made my giggle, a blush quickly forming on my face. “I thought you already left for work.” I beamed. “No. I was at the home office. I haven’t since you today and it’s been making me feel so incomplete. I also thought you had gone to the restaurant. I can’t believe you’re still here.” He planted another kiss on my cheek. “I missed your presence.” “Me too.” I turned to him. “However, I have to go to the restaurant.” “Can’t that wait till tomorrow? It’s past noon already.” “No, it can’t.” I wiggled out of his grip, grabbed my bag from the chair and kept my recipe book in it. “Why not?” “I didn’t intend to go today, but I’m meeting up with a new business woman for the hotel. She said she spoke to you first?” “Oh. Mrs. Shine? So, it’s today? Dang it.” he moaned in complaint, standing behind me again. “I’ll miss you.” His tone was low, expre
~ TRISTAN ~“Sir, your sister wouldn’t stop calling you.” Rob whispered to me. She knows I have a meeting. Why would Nikita think it’s sensible to demand for something at such a time? She could be unreasonable sometimes. “Ignore it.” I continued with the meeting, the endless buzzing of my phone with Rob pissed me off. What the heck was her problem? It wasn’t my turn to speak, so I wanted to end the call and place the phone on airplane mode when I accidentally answered it. “Tristan!” Her voice immediately set an alarm in me. “What's wrong?” I asked. “It’s Hazel. I don't know what's wrong with her, but it seems like she’s… dead.” “Dead?!” I jumped to my feet. “She had an attack and now she has pierced herself with broken glasses.”“What on Earth?! Why are you calling me? Call the ambulance! I'll meet you both at the hospital.”“Mr. Hendrix, this interruption is very rude.” I ignored Mr. Rajeed and dashed out of the meeting room. I wanted to use the elevator but it didn’t respond.
~ HAZEL ~“Where are you going?” Nikita asked, placing her legs over the arm of the couch with the television remote on her tummy. “I'll go to the hospital to check up on Charlotte, then I’ll head to the restaurant. Why?”“Nothing. I was just wondering…” she shrugged, “will you be free later tonight? There’s this awesome movie I need to watch. I need to watch it with a female, and all of my friends don’t live in this city. We can spend girl time together; there are a lot more things I still have to tell you about those boys.”“Sure, no problem.” I smiled, turning around. “It’s weird that I'm asking you to spend time with me, right?” She asked. “Yes, definitely.” I turned to her with a smirk. “But you're turning out to be a good girl sooner than I thought.”She playfully rolled her eyes. “It’s definitely because I’m bored.”“Or because I’m too sweet to be hated forever?”“Please stop.”I chuckled and she joined me. “Just don’t be late. Plus, I need more advice. Antonio sent a text t
Her words made my blood boil in intense fury and I felt like my head was going to explode. “This is the madness you’ve been planning all along, right? We were never intimate. There’s no fucking way I am the father of the child you’re carrying. I’ve not been serious about it, but I swear you need mental help, immediately.”“Don’t be silly, sweetheart. You’re probably getting old and losing your memory, but I remember every single detail of our intense night. If it isn’t real, then how do I possibly remember how hard that beautiful baby, that huge fucking cock, is? How it went deep down my throat and inside of me.” Indy bit her lower lip again, staring down below my belt like my member was a piece of cake she wanted to eat. “How do I possibly remember how your hands trailed down every inch of my body, leaving hickeys on me?” She shut her eyes with a moan. “Gosh, I can't wait to relive that night over and over again. “You’re foolish.” I couldn't take her insanity anymore. I was beyond
“What the heck do you mean?” I wanted to check it out for myself but Tristan held my wrist, automatically stopping my movement. “What do you think you're doing? I don’t want you to be traumatized over nothing.” “Nothing? Charlotte is fucking dying, yet that is nothing?” Kye asked, hurt flashing in his eyes. “No. I mean, I’m certain she’s not going to die. There shouldn't be any need for her worry to increase over Charlotte when she's not going to die. Just calm down, Kye.” He pulled me away to Nikita. “Nikita, both of you should return home. It’s late. I’ll stay with Kye.”“There’s no way I’m leaving until Charlotte is fine.” I protested.“Hazel, don't be stubborn. You look tired. I’ll update you every second. Just go home. Please.” He held my shoulders. Though I didn't want to leave till Charlotte was awake, I had to admit that I was extremely tired. “Okay. You must call me when she wakes up.” I succumbed to his demand. “Yes.” He placed a kiss on my forehead and I left with Niki
